Well what can I say I can’t even remember this arc in the manga…I was getting it jumbled up with another arc from like volume 7 and I know this is gotta be somewhere in the beginning. I’m having trouble recalling if there was a “massive ice cream scoop cone” vs “Hikari juggling 3 massive cotton candy sticks” scene though..that was kinda weird. Also I don’t know but for some reason the characters’ faces get more and more square every week. Maybe it’s my imagination I dunno. At least this week no one’s voice really bothered me. Next week they’re gonna introduce what’s his face, the one Megumi likes. Let’s all pray that his voice doesn’t pop our eardrums.

Ah the famous episode of Hikari and her iron onigiri. She gives the real meaning to “iron chef” as all her food ends up like a rock. I’m slowly starting to get used to Yuko Goto’s voice now and I actually found it amusing that during the imagination scene of the Kaichou she sounded like Mikuru-chan ^^;. Only thing that’s been bugging me more than ever is the character designs all of a sudden. I dunno what it is, but all of a sudden I’m like “wtf is with that long face? omg wtf nose?” Also my favorite scene was when Megumi’s notepad said “HELP” on it I’m just finding myself impatient like I was during the first couple manga volumes until Hikari finally “saw the light”.

Upcoming Attractions: I believe Hikari gets to meet Kei’s dad & shota brother.

So while the shota and the erojiji were raving about this show, after watching it I just couldn’t feel the same way. (Although I am sad they didn’t invite me to their live viewing ) One thing that really annoyed me is Hirano Aya’s voice acting. It’s like she was trying so god damn hard to be all loud and spunky that it cames across as nails on chalkboard. Second, unlike Inukami with elephant wangs, having a guy shoot lasers out of his cock isn’t as funny when it looks like they’re coming from his abs. Finally, aside from the 20 year old guy and the lolis (they look like they’re 12 btw), every character’s design in the show is hideous. The animation in general reminds me of something like TriZenon, but the difference is Trizenon (and Inukami while we’re at it) had romance, while this just seems to be headed towards the gag/action show direction which really doesn’t interest me. I think the male audience will like it, but female audience, maybe not so much…unless of course you’re a Hirano Aya fangirl or just love these kinds of things. I never planned to watch this in the first place, and after a taste I guess I’ll have to pass anyway.

Since the Haruhi doujinshi I drew was sold out this morning, I put up a poll recently in regards to me selling my “sold out” doujinshi on DLSite like I had originally intended to. While I was about to sign up this evening, I started to read their terms of service and I came across an interesting paragraph:

While the creation of Parody works are active among Japanese creators, We are still investigating the legal status on Parody works created within outside of Japan. Therefore, at this point, we can not accept any product that features existing licensed characters from Anime, Games or other mediums.

So basically, unless I wanna make original character doujins (which no one on there will care to buy) and post it there, DLSite will not accept my work. I don’t know when they plan to change this rule, or if they plan to change it, but all I know is, my great strive for online doujin sales is pretty much over at this point. I’m sure you guys are gonna say “just do it anyway, no one will care” but it’s less of a load on my back to deal with honestly. Last thing I need is Kyoto Animation sending me threatening emails or something

So since there is no Naruto anime episode this week I figured I’d do a combo post with manga releases. Today I checked out the latest chapter of Naruto of course along with a coincidental upload of the latest chapter of Ouran High School Host club. In my opinion, poop hits the fan more in Ouran than in Naruto, since something incredibly surprising has to happen in Naruto for me to get that kind of feeling…actually Naruto was more of a big joke than anything else. I was going to do a detailed Clannad post but the episode is on JP’s computer (which I watched Saturday morning before the con) and I don’t feel like transferring it. Have a game CG. Frankly I’m happy yet disappointed. I’m happy that Nagisa’s play scene was done really well, much better than the movie actually. I’ll give KyoAni that, the Nagisa breaking down and her parents + Tomoya cheering her on was awesomely done. Know what annoys me? Broken record time - why does Nagisa’s romance scene get like…5 minutes and Pooko/Kotomi get like 6-7 episodes each. Wtf? Also Tomoya’s confession was supposed to happen during that scene where Kyo cockblocked them…better late than never right? How about no.

The next episode looks like an epic yaoi fest between Tomoya & Sunohara. I had a deep and passionate discussion about this with a girl dressed as Nagisa at Anime Boston’s artist alley. She also agreed that Nagisa got the shaft. Whatever, I guess I don’t care anymore. The show pretty much went downhill after Kotomi’s arc ended. When I was making the Kanon amv and flipping through the episodes again…I thought to myself…why couldn’t they just do Clannad this way? Why was Kanon and Air so much better directed than this? Well whatever, no use in debating over spilled milk. Let’s just hope season 2 of Haruhi is less disappointing.

P.S. No kissing in a romance show = automatic fail.

Anyway…while today was a little better due to most people now having gotten their con membership, it still didn’t change the fact that people were willing to only buy specifically what they want no matter how cheap or expensive it is.
