Just like Aroduc my old school fire is burning with delight the moment I heard Megumi Hayashibara voicing our orange haired heroine. I’m not covering Sekitits or Mahou Tsukai because I disliked both (as I pretty much expected.) You can read JP’s post on it and well with the slice of life show, why the hell is it just photos of backgrounds? Like I could go take my moblog, add some royalty free music and add a few close up face shots and voila! I made an anime! So basically my Wednesday pick up will be Slayers. Continue Reading »

Warning:
This is a tl;dr post about MMORPGs so feel free to skip if you’re not interested. I was talking to DS last night about RO and he was surprised to hear that I actually have been playing it on and off for the last 5 years. I’m not really much of a gamer and unlike most people I don’t actually get addicted to MMOs to the point where they affect my daily life. However, RO has been that one game that I just can’t eternally give up. I’ve had break periods ranging from 6 months - 1+ years but I still come back every time… Continue Reading »

While trying
to find a god damn upload of this episode, I ran into some videos of people playing the game. So I randomly clicked on one and less than a minute in, it occurred to me that Yume looks like she’s 12. I have to say I’ll give the props to the anime team for making everyone at least LOOK their age. The only character who I feel looks better in the game than the anime is probably Koko. I feel she looks kinda buff in the anime but cuter in the game. Yume looks 12 and everyone else’s head just looked incredibly deformed to me during the dialogue scenes. It was so revolting that any desire I had (which was low to begin with) to even try the game out pretty much jumped out the window. This week’s episode was only awesome because Jyuunichi ran us down memory lane of the original Da Capo and talked about “girls being able to read minds who sing well”, “a girl who loved bananas”, “the sisters who ate nabe” and “cats who turn into human girls”. Ahh thank you Jyuunichi, you’re the only thing saving this for me from the brink of total doom.

This
is completely irrelevant to anything other than the fact that after Anime Boston more and more events are popping up that seem to be some sort of twisted hints that are telling me “Stop going to anime conventions.” I honestly think the only thing that continuously kept me coming back to cons is because I like to make Doujinshi, and cons are a good place to sell them (although it seems online sales are just as good if not better
) Continue Reading »

Recently the webmaster of Fan History contacted me letting me know about her site. It’s basically the wikipedia for fandoms. So you can go in there and tell your tales of how anime conventions went from having every other guy cosplay Vash the Stampede, then Ed Elric, Naruto and Yagami Light.
And while we’re on the topic of history, how many of you started your fandoms with these guys? XD
A lot of you guys already discussed it in my post about obsolete fansites but I’m sure when you think of something else it would be great to add it to the wiki. I could probably write a whole paragraph about the evolution of anime downloading that began on Geocities/Tripod, then Hotline, then FTP, then IRC and now Bit Torrent.
Anyway check it out, here is a direct link to their anime section.

And because I don’t have a witty image for this post, here’s an ancient logo I did for some fansub group.
So the last 2 days I spent walking around Manhattan’s 2 prominent weeaboo spots: Kinokuniya and Asahiya bookstores in search of Kamichama Karin and Modotte! Mamotte Lollipop Volumes 6. Neither of them had these, even though they were released last week. If this was me 3 years ago, I would have immediately gone home and ordered and overpriced Amazon.co.jp order of said books and everything would have been said and done. Continue Reading »
