Sorry not
many pictures today. Photos are now up in the usual location (Click on Anime Boston in the left menu). Anyway…while today was a little better due to most people now having gotten their con membership, it still didn’t change the fact that people were willing to only buy specifically what they want no matter how cheap or expensive it is. I am however thankful for all of you guys who did stop by and purchase a print and/or doujinshi.
Not a long entry today but I will basically conclude my thoughts on the con. Continue Reading »

So here
comes my report for Friday. I’m going to start out by saying I feel incredibly let down and almost heart broken because I completely overestimated the kind of audience that would attend this convention. After this convention, I seriously need to re-analyze my entire anime hobby. I’m still shocked at all that has happened, but read on and share in my misery. Continue Reading »

So the latest craze that seems to hit the anime fanart world is Tegaki. It’s been popular in Japan before but recently someone had opened up an English version for English speakers to post their doodles. Tegaki is basically a Java/Flash version of MS Paint. Your tools are just pencils and colors. The rest is up to you. This makes it interesting to see who will post random doodles and who spends countless of hours making their art looks just as good as someone in an art program.
I decided to jump on the bandwagon because this is a good chance for me to practice my drawing since I got the coloring thing down but my proportions look like crap as always.
My tegaki in action:
It’s also a good way to get yourself to practice the basics, because in a tegaki, if you don’t have that down, the rest looks like crap and won’t make your picture look any better. Give it a shot if you want to improve your drawing or at least give yourself an excuse to draw more often.

Prints I’ll be selling at the con.
So here I am preparing for Anime Boston. I have been on & off but it’s crunch time now because it’s only 2 weeks away. My biggest worry is my Haruhi doujinshi. The guy who was supposed to print it originally told me in early February that his printer broke. I had then go with another printer and my order has been “print pending” on their stupid que for the last 3 weeks. I requested this stuff to be mailed no later than March 11th so I guess I won’t panic just yet. If I end up at the con with only 8 leftover doujinshis though they will feel the wrath of my fangirl rage.

For those unfamiliar with DLSite it’s basically a site which allows artists, creators etc to sell their games, doujinshi, illustration collections online. Unfortunately most of it is pr0n but there’s a section for women that has some yaoi and non porno stuff. The English section I believe is anything and everything.
Just a work in progress…
So here I am thinking….. Continue Reading »

Remember when I said I was disappointed with the manga? I take it all back. It’s as if Hatori-sensei read my blog and is finally moving the slow meat grinder that is Tamaki and Haruhi’s relationship.
With that in mind, I’m incredibly pumped and I will continue buying the tankobons even though I’ve read some Lala scanlations online. I support TamaHaru! Please keep it up sensei! XD
In celebration I did another Kaitemita.

Also there are unfortunate news for me - but SAI apparently is going commercial in the next couple days. I don’t even know if I’ll be able to buy it outside Japan (even though it’s just a serial number) and $50 for a not really complete program (it’s missing a lot of tools which supposedly will be added in the commercial version but who knows.) Oh well

So a couple weeks ago I wrote a post in an LJ community on why people ship Neuro and Yako when all Neuro does is smash her head against walls and ceilings, down her in gas and make her balance a candle on her head and use her as his chair/mop. After reading more of the manga (I’m on volume 12 now) something occured to me: Neuro and Yako are almost like Hamel and Flute from the Violinist of Hameln. You got the hero, who’s a monster (or half monster) who finds a plain old girl and forces her somehow to follow along with what he’s doing. In the meantime he abuses her in a gag kind of manner (Flute Missile anyone?) but near the end it’s because of the girl is the hero able to conquer his final foes.
Needless to say I feel Yako will play an important part to Neuro near the end, similarly to like she did in the HAL arc. But even if NeuYako is my fannon, I’m down with it. The other fanarts I’ve seen are so freaking adorable that it’s enough to convince me to support this pairing.
And on a note of fanart, here’s a 描いてみた Part II:
Also to my Japanese visitors: 「
P.S. The Hameln I’m referring to is the manga, the anime sucks terribly. Good luck trying to find copies of it though - it’s forever out of print.
P.P.S. Holy shit there’s a sequel to this now? Must buy!
