This is probably old news to everyone but I recently got myself a new cell phone which finally had a strap hole in it. I’m currently using my company’s mascot as a strap but I wanted to get one of those straps you can use to clean the screen because I have a slider phone and the screen constantly gets dirty. Soo…being a weeaboo that I am I headed over to Strap-Ya which specializes in weeaboo & “kawaii” phone straps from Japan. (Some of these you can get at Kinokuniya though which is why I never purchased from there before.)

Anyway I clicked on one of the sidebar links on the left that said ?? and had a golden poo strap in the photo…and well that’s what I got. It’s not really the concept of golden poo that amuses me, but the titles and taglines that they write all over the page. I don’t know if it’s to be ironic or they figure using humor will hide the fact that they’re telling us overseas people that Japanese are fascinated with pieces of shit to attach to their cell phones. Pardon me for this post, I’m trying to make it relevant but it seems my blog is slowly turning into my encounters with all things Japan rather than an anime blog these days due to lack of any good anime to write about. Anyway, when I began watching anime just as all anime fans, the first thing we think of is “I want to purchase merchandise from THIS show!” Needless to say I spent some share of my otaku money on sailormoon chibi figures, shirts, keychains and whatever other nonsense was available from DiC at the time. Nowdays, all I really buy is manga, and as I ranted before, even the funds for that are starting to dry up. But there is one thing that still keeps gnawing at my wallet: DHC. Continue Reading »

I feel like such a nerd writing this, but this could possibly be relevant to all you anime hobby related photographers (figures, cosplay etc.) As you all know I love cosplay as well as taking cosplay photos (of people who cosplay things other than Bleach & Naruto these days though). The annoying part is, when I get home I have to open up my camera SD card, stick it into the laptop copy the photos and upload them to the internets. Since the Haruhi doujinshi I drew was sold out this morning, I put up a poll recently in regards to me selling my “sold out” doujinshi on DLSite like I had originally intended to. While I was about to sign up this evening, I started to read their terms of service and I came across an interesting paragraph:

While the creation of Parody works are active among Japanese creators, We are still investigating the legal status on Parody works created within outside of Japan. Therefore, at this point, we can not accept any product that features existing licensed characters from Anime, Games or other mediums.

So basically, unless I wanna make original character doujins (which no one on there will care to buy) and post it there, DLSite will not accept my work. I don’t know when they plan to change this rule, or if they plan to change it, but all I know is, my great strive for online doujin sales is pretty much over at this point. I’m sure you guys are gonna say “just do it anyway, no one will care” but it’s less of a load on my back to deal with honestly. Last thing I need is Kyoto Animation sending me threatening emails or something

Ah well for those who didn’t get a copy all I can tell you is better luck next time

As you already know the Japanese “pancake” is referred to as “Hotto Ke-ki”. While we were at Mistuwa yesterday they had a sale on the “hotcake” mix so we decide to pick up a bag (mainly because we ran out of Bisquick.) I guess to be completely weeaboo you’d have to pick up the Morinaga hotcake syrup but we figured using Eggo syrup wasn’t gonna be much of a difference.
It’s really amusing how the back of the package has these cute instructions. I mean it makes it seem like the one making the pancakes is some 10 year old. The frying pan says “juu~~” and the pancake is saying “puupuu” in one of the instruction panels. The good thing though, if you can’t read Japanese, they prominently affixed an English instruction label for a swift and easy way to make your hotcakes. Continue Reading »

I was watching CDTV this evening and I spotted an interesting commercial that I uploaded for you guys to see:

Pretty creative if you ask me, especially that “Touka Koukan” pun thing (if you haven’t watched Full Metal Alchemist I guess it’s not as funny xD). It was pretty surprising as I pretty much never see anime related commercials unless I’m watching an anime related program. Also, Sen no Kaze ni Natte is still in the top 50…after 2 years. Wtf
