So about a month ago I was contacted by the Marketing Coordinator from Dark Horse and I said I wouldn’t mind pimping some of their stuff on this blog. While I don’t really do news posts for any kind of releases, especially US companies, I guess I don’t mind helping out once in a while. Anyway Dark Horse is releasing 2 things. One of them is Blood+ and unless you’ve been under a rock for the last 2 years you should at least know what that is. Now personally I never read Blood+ as it’s not really my type of genre but I did hear it has romance and I recall following some reviews from TjHan and Omni on the anime. I wasn’t really gonna do this since many people are really behind, but since someone asked here’s a brief review. For some strange reason the volume started out completely disconnected from the ending of Volume 11. For a while I felt like I was reading the wrong thing. I kept thinking “is this really vol. 12? Did I skip something…?” But lo and behold they didn’t “connect” the plot until midway through so I guess I have to give this one a thumbs down. One thing that really bugs me are chapters about sports competitions. I think they work better in anime format, but in manga format they often really bore me. I know you’ve all been impatiently waiting so here it is. But before I go into it I have to first talk trash about Kinokuniya and Japanese racism since it is relevant to me purchasing this book. As you guys know Shugo Chara has Special Edition volumes that come out along with every normal edition when a Shugo Chara volume is released. Kinokuniya only had 2 volume 6’s sitting out period, neither of which was the SE. I asked a lady working there if she could help me find a Special Edition or open up one of the drawers where they keep extra books. She told me “can you please wait” because she seemed in the middle of something. Ok that’s cool I just hung around looked at random How to Draw Manga books while I waited. I then saw her come back but rather than helping me, her attitude went from “Go away white person” to “Hi I’d love to help you find it” when she decide to help a random Japanese family who had come upstairs during the time I waited…and basically ignoring my existence. That’s great Kinokuniya. You market your sorry asses towards weeaboos, but when we come to spend money, you ignore us. Yea well you just lost about $6 extra from one of us, fags. So since there is no Naruto anime episode this week I figured I’d do a combo post with manga releases. Today I checked out the latest chapter of Naruto of course along with a coincidental upload of the latest chapter of Ouran High School Host club. In my opinion, poop hits the fan more in Ouran than in Naruto, since something incredibly surprising has to happen in Naruto for me to get that kind of feeling…actually Naruto was more of a big joke than anything else. Ok last post for tonight then I gotta pack for Anime Boston. XD Anyway, I meant to post this a while ago but never got around to it. Anyway you guys remember that Shippuuden ending of Naruto where they showed the Naruto cast in a manga style school life kinda situation? Well they actually made a spin off special from that which sorta explains how everything happens. Basically the reason that Naruto got beatup by those yakuzas and stuff is because they attacked Ino Sakura & Hinata. So remember how I had those Striking Revelations in Shugo Chara? Since I’m reading a little ahead of the scans I figured some people may be curious. Anyway you know Ryu? That guy who the twins are always all over. Well now that the twins all have their own significat other, Ryu is kinda ronery.

So Ryu gets kinda close to the soon to be prince of London (England?) because the guy has like no friends and needs Ryu’s help to win Hikari’s heart. Apparently if he doesn’t get married, he can’t become prince etc. So Ryu helps him but they develop a pretty…close relationship. Almost BL close. Continue Reading »

Since I heard about Special A becoming an anime this spring, and seeing the manga at Kinokuniya a few times I decided to check it out myself.

I have to admit I fucking love it. It makes me feel all warm & squishy inside with all its shoujo goodness and KISSING. IT HAS KISSING! (And the best part is the mangaka pairs up all the guys with the girls that they fit with rather than putting them with 1 person and then many chapters later putting them with another for no apparent reason. *cough)

I won’t get into spoilers but yea the lead woman is pretty dense. She’s denser than a brick but seeing her overcome the denseness and eventually melt for the lead guy is my desired shoujo romantic goodness. Anyway this show I’m hoping is going to be awesome. The cast already looks awesome - the 2 ppl making out in this pic will be voiced by Goto Yuko and Fukuyama Jun! XD

I just pray that this doesn’t end up nearly as awful as Boobnaut and Rosario + Pantsu.
