RenAi Game Review: Girlfriend of Steel 2

Published by Hinano under RenAi/Eroge

In an ongoing attempt to clear our my backlog of all sorts of dating sim games dating back to like 4 months ago, I decided to start by playing Asuka’s route in the GOS game. There’s Rei and Kaworu (for all the yaoi fangirls) too but well I hate Rei, and I’m not into gay, and I frankly would rather see Kaworu and Rei get it on with themselves than with Shinji. Anyhoo the biggest surprise to me was uh…where is Mana? Wasn’t the whole Steel Girlfriend thing supposed to revolve around her? I’m not really sure how this time around the game relates to her in any way. (Or maybe it’s not supposed to, someone enlighten me.)

Let me start out by saying this is the worst dating sim type game I’ve ever played. Not because of the art, not because of the (lack there of) story (or pr0n) but the actual game play itself. I followed this guide, and thank god the person told me where to click because trying to figure out the kanji/locations for all the districts and the geofront rooms maps made my head spin. (Don’t even get me started on the map of the stupid cave.) Continue Reading »

Game Review: Alice in Hentailand

Published by Hinano under RenAi/Eroge

So I found out that UnisonShift was releasing a new game called “Alice Parade” which was the same people who did Nanatsuiro Drops and the art was also done by Itoh Noiji. Perhaps I should have read the game summary or looked at other reviews because this was NOT LIKE NANATSUIRO DROPS AT ALL.

The premise is very simple. Your name is Alice, yes you are a male. You’re a man named Alice who gets late to college one day and runs into a bunnygirl who takes you to Wonderland. Naturally in the first 10 minutes of the game, this is what I expected:

However, this is what I got: Continue Reading »

RenAi Game Review: Nanatsuiro Drops

Published by Hinano under Nanatsuiro Drops, RenAi/Eroge

Well I finally finished the game..but to be honest I only played through Sumomo’s story. The problem is this game is so adorable and she is clearly the “main girl” while the other 2 are just supports you can screw for the ero-loving fanboys. I didn’t wanna destroy my cannon with Sumomo x Tsuwabuki so I decided to just not play their stories. Please don’t pelt me with rocks, if you really wanna know what happens with Nona & Nako, play the game yourself or google up some Japanese blog that probably has 萌え!!! written in large red fonts all over it. This must be a MAN thing.

Published by Hinano under RenAi/Eroge

So I ventured into the world of eroge and decided to try playing Aekanaru Sekai no Owari ni. Unfortunately I did not get beyond day 2 of the game because of various problems that I guess wouldn’t be problems if you were a Japanese Otaku male. I thought it would be interesting cause I could see the guy’s face in some pics, and it was made by the Otoboku team so maybe it would be funny in some way. Unfortunately because of all the high tech vocabulary (something regarding him joining a shooting game team in order to train to kill people who shot his sister or something?) and the LACK OF VOICES FOR EVERY MALE CHARACTER this game quickly became tedious and difficult to understand for me. I don’t mind when the male lead has monologues but this guy had so much I got so sick of reading everything he said.

Also being an art guru, seeing some of the CGs look so messed up (like oddly shaped hands) really annoyed me like…hey you know even MY hands look better drawn than yours do, and you’re making money off this shit! Well anyway even if I did end up plowing through this, I may not have understood the actual story anyway. The fact that half the character don’t have voices makes things 20 times harder for the kanji impaired.

Lesson learned is, from now on I only play games that have an anime series coming out for them (or had one come out for them) so at least I have something to “motivate” me to play it. That or avoid games where they discriminate against male characters. With that in mind, I wish someone would freaking finish seeding Nanatsuiro Drops. I’m at 99.5% for like 2 days already!!

RenAi Game Review: Clannad

Published by Hinano under Clannad, RenAi/Eroge

THE EPIC 1 MONTH GAME IS OVAR! Anyway the story, like with Kanon, focuses on 5 girls but it’s possible to get “endings” of some of the sub characters as well (although this is mostly for the CG collecting types.) The first girl I played was actually Nagisa, but because her story acually ties in with the rest of the girls…I will mention her last. Unlike some of the otome games I played this is like a “visual novel” type (like most of Key’s work) so you just keep going and pick choices in the story…rather than “on this day I will go to the 2nd year classroom” etc. Oh and with the whole “sad girls in X”, this seems to follow the “Sad girls in rain” theme. The theme of this game is “family” so every story deals with either parents or siblings or just starting “your own” family. This post ended up being epic, so major spoilers ahead and lotsa pics and text! Click at your own risk. Continue Reading »

OH MY GOD

Published by Hinano under Clannad, RenAi/Eroge

God I haven’t cried like this since I watched Air.

I don’t know if I’ll be able to make it in one piece through the rest of the girls.

(I swear I will get through and post a real review.)

RenAi Game Review: Keitai Shoujo (PC)

Published by Hinano under Keitai Shoujo, RenAi/Eroge

So in the end I decided to call my section “RenAI” games rather than Eroge since some of the games I plan to play don’t have any porn in them, although they are intended for the male audience. Anyway the real reason I wanted to check out this game is because the anime’s coming out in a few weeks and it has cell phones in it so it sounded interesting. I also liked the character designs of the (what appears to me) the main girl Ichiru. However, this is the type of game where looks can be deceiving and it was so awful I could only make it through the story of 1 girl. Continue Reading »
