Friday Premieres: MMORPGs and Collapsing Houses

Published by Hinano under First Impressions

Tower of Druaga - So despite Aroduc’s summary (which I made a good decision in the end not to base my opinion of this show on) I decided to watch this show after seeing the number of parodies mentioned by Kurogane. I was pretty amused that in the OP it looks like they’re showing normal people who play MMORPGs. Being a long time RO player I feel like I have to watch this show because a lot of the jokes are pretty amusing. But MMO jokes aside, how about the NicoNico video joke? Or that Evangelion joke when Jil’s wings like turn into the Eva 01’s from the Eva op. xD Once Jil’s dream kinda ended it wasn’t as funny. I really hope the rest of the show will be like this episode was…and doesn’t get all serious business on me. JP tells me it was directed by the guy who directed Full Metal Panic and Gatekeepers, both of which I liked. I’ll have to check out episode 2 before I decide whether I will be picking this up. Also I watched it in horrible quality on Crunchyroll because it had subtitles and someone watching it with me is Japanese is impaired ;)

Itazura na Kiss - is just too awesome. I expected to enjoy this show but what makes it more awesome is it reminds me of those 90s shoujo animes that I miss oh so dearly. Anyway this is a definite pick up for Friday as I had originally planned but I wanted to check it out just to be sure. I don’t really know what she sees in that guy, and aside the fact that he’s voiced by the guy who did our favorite Nice Boat captain, I wanna kick him square in the nuts just for being a jackass. So naturally I really hope by the end of this show he’s on his knees begging for sex0ring from the girl because he wants her that badly. Also the fat girl randomly amuses me because I almost never see fat anime characters (except for Chouji in Naruto  ) If you like Moe things, steer clear, if you like good old fashioned shoujo, come along for the ride. Also the ending song was really catchy.

T(its and ass)o Love Ru Ep. 1

Published by Hinano under First Impressions

Well I expected this show to be a piece of crap and unfortunately my expectations were pretty much met. It’s basically like Rosario to Pantsu meets Narue no Sekai, except they didn’t need Gonzo to come fuck it up, the manga is just THAT awful. I really couldn’t get past 2-3 chapters of it and dropped it ages ago. When I heard the anime was coming I facepalmed but figured I’d give it a chance. It’s like every annoying thing about the manga has been accentuated to 10 times worse and don’t even get me started on how many pics of boobs and butts I had to sit through while watching this thing. Unlike Rosario to Vampire which has random panty shots here & there, this show just goes into detail on crotches & tits. Oh wait, I think I recall this being done in another anime drawn by the same studio…Needless to say I won’t be picking this up.

Also none of the other Thursday shows today interested me.
Edit: It just occurred to me that this is my 1000th post. How sad.

Winter Shows Snowball - Part 4

Published by Hinano under First Impressions

The only thing airing today was Cool x Spicy Wolf. It was really weird to see a period anime set in that time frame, and the music they used didn’t help me think otherwise. Horo reminds me of the firefox mascot lol. Lawrence was compared a lot to Lulu from Code Geass by NicoNicoers, but since I chose to ignore that show I could only think of Keita from Inukami or Kazuki from Busou Renkin. ON the topic of Inukami, I had the exact same deja vu’s due to the whole dude with wolf/dog/fox thing with him. I’m not sure where this show is going to go, but the studio also did Rizelmine and that LoveLove/Hit wo Nerae/Cosplayers series. All of them had really dumb fanservice, but they all had romantic comedy too so I’m hoping I’ll get to see that in this series as well. I’ll give it another ep or 2 before I make a decision about blogging it. Anybody know how long it’s supposed to run?

Winter Shows Snowball - Part 3

Published by Hinano under First Impressions, KimiAru

So because I was busy shopping for beds and mattresses today I didn’t get a chance to watch this stuff until later in the evening. Lots of premieres today so let’s get the [snow]ball rolling.

Persona -Trinity Soul-: I said “ew” more than once but at the same time it was kinda interesting. I also LOLed at their bizarro music selection as well as the scene where the guy has a sword come out of his crotch stomach like in Utena or something. I think I’ll give it another shot, it’s only 13 episodes so picking this up wouldn’t be too painful, especially on a Saturday when I only currently have 2 shows to blog. Continue Reading »

Winter Shows Snowball - Part 2

Published by Hinano under First Impressions

So the only show today was that Hatenko Yuugi show. I’m sorta in a dilemma about this and here is why: All the manga covers have the girl and the guy in these cheesy shoujoey poses which = romance. However after watching episode 1 I could barely make it through. None of characters had caught my interest, things happened really fast without any flow. I mean one minute they’re in a forest, the next they’re in the old guy’s house? Wth? Has anybody read the manga? Does this have the potential to get better and/or have some romance?? Or is this gonna be a lame boring gag show. I mean next week’s episode features rabid dogs and a shota  Perhaps this story has potential but the way Studio Deen executed it made it no better than Tits + Vampire (which by the way I enjoyed chapter 1 of the manga lot more than the anime. Rant forth coming.) I dunno, I may check out next week’s ep but this was so incredibly boring I doubt I’ll pick it up for my blogging schedule let alone bother watching the rest.

Winter Shows Snowball - Part 1

Published by Hinano under First Impressions

I could start this post with how much I hate Vista with the fire of a thousand suns, but let’s just skip that and move on to the fact that most of my shows will now be watched through niconico because that doesn’t freeze and crash my computer but anyway. So we begin the winter lineup with the good the bad and the ugly, but mostly the ugly because looking at everyone’s pre-season posts the lineup looked as exciting as the crowd on the morning commute at the NY Subway.

Let’s begin with the atrocities of this evening:
Rosario to Vampire: Or as I’d like to call “Rosario to Pantsu”. Someone shoulda started a panty counter, and I have no doubt in one of the other niconico uploads of this how someone probably did. I think if it wasn’t for everyone’s comments I woulda just stopped watching 10 minutes in. Continue Reading »

Fall Firsts 2007: Part 5!

Published by Hinano under First Impressions

Double your pleasure, double your fun, it’s the statement of the ranting in Hinano gum. On to part 5!

Rental Magica - This COULD be a cool show…10 years ago. Something about it just reminds me of something I must have seen ages ago and it almost feels like a deja vu to me. The only thing I can really think of is Gatekeepers and xxxHolic but there’s definitely something familiar about this whole atmosphere. Unfortunately it fails to impress me and nothing about it stands out enough to keep me glued to the screen. Frankly it seems like “rental case of the week” until some random plot happens surrounding the Shacho Iwa guy and his eyeball. Continue Reading »
