So while on the way to NJ today I decide to watch Last Friends, the drama I talked about in my jdrama spring preview. Holy shit is this drama fucked up. Basically take a bunch of fucked up 20 year olds, and put them in a house together and you get Real World Japan. The main heroine is played by the girl who played Rei in Proposal Daisakusen. Monochrome Factor - I didn’t know anything about this show going in, and coming out all I could think of is “Yaranaika?” LOL is this a BL anime?? I’m googling everywhere and nowhere does it list it as BL, but it’s hard to think of this as anything but gay when some gay grim reaper shows up, makes out with the hero to give him “special powers” to defeat weird looking monsters..and then in the preview the gay grim reaper tells us of his fantasies with the hero. Also the only girl I saw in the show is so tsundere that every line out of her mouth sounds like someome has a knife to her throat. Some parts kinda amused me and I let out a chuckle, but all the BL crap is too much! I can’t take it!! Can someone confirm whether this show is BL or not? So while the shota and the erojiji were raving about this show, after watching it I just couldn’t feel the same way. (Although I am sad they didn’t invite me to their live viewing ) One thing that really annoyed me is Hirano Aya’s voice acting. It’s like she was trying so god damn hard to be all loud and spunky that it cames across as nails on chalkboard. Second, unlike Inukami with elephant wangs, having a guy shoot lasers out of his cock isn’t as funny when it looks like they’re coming from his abs. Finally, aside from the 20 year old guy and the lolis (they look like they’re 12 btw), every character’s design in the show is hideous. The animation in general reminds me of something like TriZenon, but the difference is Trizenon (and Inukami while we’re at it) had romance, while this just seems to be headed towards the gag/action show direction which really doesn’t interest me. I think the male audience will like it, but female audience, maybe not so much…unless of course you’re a Hirano Aya fangirl or just love these kinds of things. I never planned to watch this in the first place, and after a taste I guess I’ll have to pass anyway.

I think KanoKon is supposed to be maybe a shortening of “Kanojo complex” (or maybe it refers to that konkon sound effect of animals) but I could be wrong. I think a better suited name is “Chichicon” also known as Boob Complex because that’s really all this show is about. Actually it’s not much different from To Love Ru, but the real difference I suppose is in the lusty shota. I know he looks like an innocent loveable shota, but actually he’s a horny little shota who has been dying for some busty cool & spicy wolf fox to come around and bring him to manhood. While some people are going to blog and fap to this every week, I think I will pass. If this show had less boobs and more elephant wangs, it coulda been a winner though.

Tower of Druaga - So despite Aroduc’s summary (which I made a good decision in the end not to base my opinion of this show on) I decided to watch this show after seeing the number of parodies mentioned by Kurogane. I was pretty amused that in the OP it looks like they’re showing normal people who play MMORPGs. Being a long time RO player I feel like I have to watch this show because a lot of the jokes are pretty amusing. But MMO jokes aside, how about the NicoNico video joke? Or that Evangelion joke when Jil’s wings like turn into the Eva 01’s from the Eva op. xD Once Jil’s dream kinda ended it wasn’t as funny. I really hope the rest of the show will be like this episode was…and doesn’t get all serious business on me. JP tells me it was directed by the guy who directed Full Metal Panic and Gatekeepers, both of which I liked. I’ll have to check out episode 2 before I decide whether I will be picking this up. Also I watched it in horrible quality on Crunchyroll because it had subtitles and someone watching it with me is Japanese is impaired

Itazura na Kiss - is just too awesome. I expected to enjoy this show but what makes it more awesome is it reminds me of those 90s shoujo animes that I miss oh so dearly. Anyway this is a definite pick up for Friday as I had originally planned but I wanted to check it out just to be sure. I don’t really know what she sees in that guy, and aside the fact that he’s voiced by the guy who did our favorite Nice Boat captain, I wanna kick him square in the nuts just for being a jackass. So naturally I really hope by the end of this show he’s on his knees begging for sex0ring from the girl because he wants her that badly. Also the fat girl randomly amuses me because I almost never see fat anime characters (except for Chouji in Naruto ) If you like Moe things, steer clear, if you like good old fashioned shoujo, come along for the ride. Also the ending song was really catchy.

Well I expected this show to be a piece of crap and unfortunately my expectations were pretty much met. It’s basically like Rosario to Pantsu meets Narue no Sekai, except they didn’t need Gonzo to come fuck it up, the manga is just THAT awful. I really couldn’t get past 2-3 chapters of it and dropped it ages ago. When I heard the anime was coming I facepalmed but figured I’d give it a chance. It’s like every annoying thing about the manga has been accentuated to 10 times worse and don’t even get me started on how many pics of boobs and butts I had to sit through while watching this thing. Unlike Rosario to Vampire which has random panty shots here & there, this show just goes into detail on crotches & tits. Oh wait, I think I recall this being done in another anime drawn by the same studio…Needless to say I won’t be picking this up.

Also none of the other Thursday shows today interested me.
Edit: It just occurred to me that this is my 1000th post. How sad.
