I find it funny how the majority of
my search results lately are from this drama, yet its these posts that get the least amount of commentary. I wonder what that means (other than there’s a lot of closet jdrama watchers or they’re too shy to comment since this is mostly an anime blog.) So as we ended last week, Aiko’s dad saw Seiji kissing her and rushed towards them. However, once he got to them, he made a sharp turn and went into the house…followed by shutting himself in his room and clenching his fists in anger. Aiko recalled a time that this happened in middle school when her dad saw her walking home with a boy and the next day the boy stopped speaking… Continue Reading »

I’m starting to really
get attached to the Engrish version of My Girl. I can’t wait for that single to be out XD! Basically it’s an awkard atmosphere between Seiji and Aiko because of him asking her to marry him the night before. At work as usual, all the girls treat Aiko like crap and make her do all the work while all they do is fawn over Seiji. Aiko’s dad is against it as usual and everybody at his work keeps teasing him about it. Aiko and Seiji though still want to convince him. Continue Reading »

To be honest I laughed
out loud on more than 1 occasion while watching this episode. Sadly that’s more than I can say for most anime I’ve watched this season. :/ Anyway this week is the great big misunderstanding between Aiko and her dad…who is now convinced that Aiko has found a guy to marry. Because last week she lied to him telling him that the only way that she’ll be out of his “grasp” is to get married and leave the house…he’s going out of his mind trying to figure out who it is. He first of course sets his eyes on Seiji. Continue Reading »

While the anime
season is looking bleak, the drama season looks as fruitful as ever! So with my first drama of the season I begin with the Japanese version of “Father of the Bride“. Even the ending credits feature an Engrishy version of “My Girl”. The story deals with a 20 year old girl, who has finally entered the workforce, but her father just can’t seem to let go. Our heroine Aiko (played by Satomi-chan) has had her dad hanging on her shoulder since she was in kindergarten. Because of this she had to follow strict rules like being home by 6 and not ever having a boyfriend. Continue Reading »
