Well
this basically concludes ALL the episodes of Sumomomomomomo. Episode 24 was kinda lame because it included some angry loli who wanted to create chaos so that she could continue making weapons for people to use. She abducted Koushi and made it seem like she wanted to have him be protected from other Budoukas. Of course he fell for it because he just needed a quiet place to study. Continue Reading »

I was
informed on MAL that Sumomomomomomo actually is 24 episodes, and the last 2 were goofy specials unrelated to the story that were released on DVD only. (Something another studio is planning to do as well.) I dug around a bit and found them uploaded to various video sites because the torrent for the raws was posted last August. (I can’t believe I didn’t notice it oh well ^^;) Continue Reading »

I picked
up Sumo^6 this afternoon at Kinokuniya hoping for an exciting continuation of this passionate budouka story. Unfortunately even though it was the “next” volume, the story felt like it had progressed backwards. Koushi still sucks and can’t be a Budouka, and it’s emphasized in this volume by Yuusuke who say that it takes years of hard training to become one - not just something you can do “in a week”. Even Tenka had mentioned “you know everyone I met so far who is a budouka has wanted to be one for a reason - not because his family is making him to.” So it’s not that Koushi can’t be one, it’s that he doesn’t have the desire to be one, therefore he eternally sucks. Been a while
since I did a post on this right? I was reading the manga well into the show and after the anime ended abruptly (on a disappointing number may I add - I mean 22 wtf?) I sorta kept on with the manga chapters. (I missed ch. 54 though but anyway) I was at Kinokuniya and since Shugo Chara vol 5 was not yet available I gave into my temptations and bought volume 8. I can never leave Kinokuniya without buying something (●´艸`).
So anyhoo if you basically ended with the anime here’s a brief catchup. Things between Momoko and Koushi get better and he ignores her less and actually starts to appreciate her a lot more. There’s a couple random arcs (like with the crazy muscly teacher) but most of the focus is on trap-chan who is a girl told to live as a man. (Or at least I think she was told, that or she just wanted her father to appreciate her and be a good budouka so she decided to be the son he never had - I forgot I read this like over a year ago x_X;.) Anyway after all this, volume 8 begins with Koushi deciding officially that he wants to train as a budouka with his father’s help. Continue Reading »

I know WTF right?
So yea it seems this really was the final episode. They really skipped around and shortened the big climax which disappoints me because they coulda gotten rid of the idiotic filler episodes and maybe stretched this whole thing out instead. I prefer story over fillers unless fillers are good, but in this case the fillers sucked and this really puts a damper on my ending of the series. For those who do not know, the manga is still going but after the manga there’s just a small arc with a reverse trap that ends in the April issue so I guess that’s why they ran short of story to animate. This week was pretty awesome…
hell even JP got pumped. It pretty much followed the manga story and was actually one of my favorite parts of the whole arc. The focus was mainly on the past of Iroha, Hanzou and TenTen. Anyway the next match Iroha volunteers to fight and says she wants to do her revenge on TenTen who ruined her life. Basically TenTen pretended to be all nice to her when she was a kid, but in reality she hated Iroha and because of her Iroha’s clan left her…all except for Hanzou. Continue Reading »

I’m
really annoyed that they spend 3 episodes on fillers only to leave like barely any room for the action in a regular storyline episode. This didn’t even really follow the storyline that much because of the whole Tenka x Tenchi double team thing. I mean it was cool and all but out of place. For some reason the whole Momoko comforting Koushi and the whole training bit (and where’s the part where Koushi’s dad and Momoko’s dad are on their way to help or something?) just felt super rushed.
And for those who missed Sanae’s naked ass…..well now you can literally see her naked ass. The only difference in the manga she was like “oh fuck embarrassment!” but here it seems her embarrassment is what summoned the giant pegasus thing. Also I don’t know why they went into a “2nd” room when in the manga all the fighting took place in one arena. The only time they fought “elsewhere” was when they fought the oldest one. Oh well anime team is getting “creative” again I guess :/.
Upcoming Attractions: TenTen vs Iroha.
