Kamichama Karin - 12
So despite the
horrific episode last week (that I thankfully didn’t have to blog) I rather enjoyed this week’s and I’m really looking forward to next week! (for once) So basically the title is “goodbye my first love” although I had expected Karin to find out that Kirika’s a girl rather than see her talking to Kazune’s bird. The animation was also not so shitty so my guess is stuff that actually follows the storyline is done by a different team than stuff that’s random filler crap. is the infamous hot springs episode but for some reason while watching it, nothing at all felt vaguely familiar. I mean I know it’s been a while since I read the manga and all, but why does it feel like 90% of the episode was made up filler? It started with Micchi having Japanfever and saying he wants to immediately visit a hot spring. So for god knows what reason, the Karasumas are invited as well. This like makes no sense, this didn’t REALLY happen in the manga did it?? 
technically wasn’t a filler, the animation was god awful once again (not as bad as ep 4 though) and it’s hot as crap up here so I was barely able to keep my eyes open enough to grasp the point of it. It amazes me how much of a lack of effort can truly ruin a show. When I first started to watch anime it all seemed amazing to me no matter how shitty it was, but nowdays I see this half assed stuff and it makes me think like “Why bother putting out shit? If you won’t put effort into it why even animate it?” I dunno if they think their target audience of kiddies won’t see the difference, but when you adapt a Koge Donbo work, for ONCE can it look nice? I’ve yet to see her works be adapted into something that makes me go “WOW nice job anime studio people.” 
This episode was some random time slip, combined with made up animation team crap combined with Kamichama Karin CHU! the sequel manga. It all really started to go down the hill the moment Kazune appeared in a Godzilla suit and chased after Karin breathing fire. The whole episode premise was “Karin lost her ring” but what happened in between that (along with repeated footage) is really beyond my comprehension. Due to this, there’s no actual summary this week but my usual barrage of sarcastic screenshots. 
more on the school festival this week I guess this will be a 2 ep or 3 ep arc. Anyway Kazune’s been training Karin to learn to “run away” even if she gets a bit physically hurt. Karin is angry that he wants her to run away instead of teaching her how to use her god powers properly. In the meantime at the Karasuma house, the other Himeka says she wants to walk around the school festival. Kirio also tells Kirika to destroy Karin, while Kirika says there’s no harm in just taking her ring. 
I found I was rejected from yet another position which threw me into another “I’m never getting a job” spiral. So this summary may start to sound robotic. Maybe Hung was right when he said #4 is the bad number because this week was a huge improvement on the animation quality. Not as great as the op but definitely better than last week’s disaster. I only saw maybe 3-4 actual scenes that lasted long enough for me to notice how crappily they were drawn. (There was one scene where Himeka looked like she was pregnant lol!) I actually liked their touch this week when they did the Koge Donboish version of Karin’s eyes in certain closeup scenes. 
Kamichama Karin on Saturday night and I was horrified at how awful the animation was. I haven’t seen animation this crappy since I watched
