I AM SO CONFUSED!
Please follow this post and you will discover my confusion. If you’ve already played the game, you should be just as confused as I am if not riding on a “WTF” en-route train. But let’s begin with the non-confusing parts and work our way DOWN. So anyway the arcade thing that Ryou Kyou and Tomoya were in - I think in the game it was just Ryou and Tomoya’s 2nd date. Kyou was only there for one of their dates if I recall correctly. Well looks like Ryou’s rejectinon flag is here when her match with Tomoya ends up being “friends”. Gee who didn’t see THAT one coming! Continue Reading »

GO AWAY YOU’RE DEAD…JUST LIKE THIS GAG!
Clannad is starting to remind me of this song by B’z called “Lady-Go-Round“. (Which was actually translated by me back in my B’z fangirl days.) It’s like 1 girl comes, goes, next one arrives. While I think their temporary kicking of Nagisa out of the picture is a good way to focus on the other girls’ stories - the fact that they’re trying to smush Tomoyo AND Kyo/Ryo it’s starting to become some kind of nabe pot, and not the good kind. I think this statue is some kind of a butt god because I always see it on a commercial for laxatives.
So uh what can I say? If you’re wondering “What’s the point of Mei coming?” Well in this episode - no there isn’t one. In the game she actually watched Sunohara play soccer against a bunch of assholes which is why it was a lot more dramatic than having her watch him play a friendly game of basketball. Also again - Tomoyo feels like she’s forced into the picture. They’re like trying to intertwine her story but it just feels like they’re trying to throw a raddish into a bowl of cheerios and hope that it matches with the strawberries. Kyou and Ryou - uhm yea they’re getting jacked on time too. What doesn’t make sense to me is how they’re cutting time out of characters whose endings we have not seen, and keeping characters around whose endings we have - i.e. Kotomi. Go away woman, stop creating a personality for yourself! (Don’t get me started on Pooko’s reappearances.) Also the Basketball arc is actually a “flag” for the Nagisa finale route…so that’s probably why although to viewers it felt out of place, the game players know its necessary.
Upcoming Attractions: Looks like they’re (lol spoiler) moving into the graduation arc where Nagisa gets sick and can’t graduate.

So here I am enjoying my scene of Nagisa and Tomoya. Where Nagisa is crying because she feels guilty for not letting the other club get the teacher sponsor, and wants to quit her club for them. Where Tomoya hugs her from behind and then asks her to go out with him……..BUT NO. AND SO FOLLOWING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF KIMIKISS THE COCKBLOCKING RETURNS!

And so Kotomi’s arc comes to an end. Did anybody cry? I gott admit…I didn’t. I actually did cry in the game (ちくしょ!
)but I dunno something in the anime just didn’t jerk a tear out of me. Also lols, the scene where Kotomi and Tomoya both cry is basically the “replacement” for the scene of Tomoya and Kotomi hugging and kissing. Hehe. Continue Reading »

Because of
the break in broadcast I completely forgot where the story was, so my emotional attachment to it sorta fell apart. Despite them playing my “insta-tear” song, I kinda sat there like
the whole time. Only thing I could concentrate on was “oh look, Tomoya has some friends to help him rip weeds out, although I coulda sworn in the game he used a lawnmower.” It’s really novel still for me to see Nagisa, Kyo and Ryo sorta be in Kotomi’s story for the hell of it but I guess I’m down with that. I also like the “cute hints” that are thrown here and there to push Tomoya & Nagisa closer together ahead of the other girls
Upcoming Attractions: Hopefully the conclusion to Kotomi’s story. No offense but I’m getting kinda bored of her and I wanna see the other girls at this point.

First of all I’d like to point out that Fuuko Filler was strangely unexpected and in some sense annoying because like…whoa go away gir’friend you’re out of the harem pool now. You stay dead until we need you for Nagisa’s conclusion dang it! Anyhoo today’s episode was generally surprising, but in a good way because KyoAni took some story elements and made them more emotional than I expected. For example the scene of Kotomi crying like that…I guess you get a different impression of seeing her rolling on the ground then just seeing a still image with tears in its eyes. Also when Tomoya enters the room full of book cut-outs, it was more impacting seeing the whole room rather than just a little bit of it like in the game CG. Also for those who want a spoiler:Kotomi’s parents are dead and all the cutouts are from books where their work/names are mentioned. (Highlight to see
) Also yay for inserting Kanon fodder into this week’s episode with the stuffed anteater.
Upcoming Attractions: Tomoya tries to cleanup Kotomi’s backyard to make it the way it was in the good ol’ days.
