So while I have not been blogging this show, I do actively watch it every Thursday (because it comes out late on Wednesday and by the time it downloads I’m headed for bed.) So yea I’d like to honestly say I’ve really enjoyed this episode because of this scene:

I think the fact that this is “romeo” and “juliet” no longer really registers in my head as much as “this is an anime that has hugging and kissing yay!” So for all it matters this could be Ryouta and Junko who want to be together but can’t because their families, the Kawasumi’s and Moriyama’s are enemies.
Oh and that blonde ho getting stood up really tickled my fancy.

Well aside from the fact that this week we learn that Romeo’s dad is growing a marijuana tree in his castle, there was nothing interesting. I’m probably going to still watch this show but it’ll probably be in the backlog or something. I don’t really know HOW to blog this show other than spitting out a summary but then I get internally confused as to “what’s going on with the actual R&J story”. Then I start to wonder if I should compare it or not or if I should just post a verbatim summary (which without stupid jokes I really hate doing.) Plus if I try to point out the weird crap they throw in every week, people come back and flame me like “How dare you insult this beautiful Gonzo work of art” etc. So yea this will be the last post on this show.

Well it was a pretty good episode if you ignore the fact that the name “ROMEO” no longer stands for that rico suave type character who wants to hit that….but rather some average guy who sees flowing hair and petals and suddenly falls in love with this chica. I also don’t get the point of Juliet cosplaying as a guy until her 16th birthday. What difference would it have made? Everyone except the shota seemed to know who she was. Also when those people came I thought they were gonna lynch mob her…rather than bow to her and call her their leader. So yea looks like next week Romeo finds out that him and Juli-chan are just not meant to be. Btw don’t they have NORMAL horses in this show? Every horse has wings

Oh and regarding this post’s title….Juliet’s nose changed in size and shape very often throughout this episode.

So I don’t know why Japan is on a Shakespeare rage
(I guess they got tired of Bae Yong Joon?) but they released 2 specials. One for King Lear and one for Romeo and Juliet. I don’t know anything about King Lear, being an uncultured swine that I am, so I decided to check out the R&J adaptation (and more so because I heard Takizawa Hideaki was the lead role for Romeo.) Anyway unlike the Gonzo “adaptation” (if you can even call it that ) this is a story about modern Japanese college-aged kids, who have something happen to them that parallels the Shakespearean play. Needless to
say, something about this show makes me want to continue watching it. Maybe it’s the KyoAni level “hair porn”, maybe it’s the flying horses or maybe it’s just the fact that I sat there wondering how Juliet managed to hide her tons of hair and her boobs. Or maybe it’s just because Romeo is a bishie or because the gay Shakespeare just reminds me a lot of Fuji Takashi in his “Oh My Juliet!” PV. Or maybe it was the fact that one of the executioners was voiced by the guy that voiced Sato in NHK ni Youkoso! Continue Reading »
