Dropping Hayate no Gotoku from blogging. I’ll probably still watch it on the subway to work but I don’t feel like blogging it anymore. I don’t really have much to say about it and spitting out a summary is already done by a few other bloggers. Pointing out parodies isn’t as fun as it used to be and someone told me this show is gonna be 52 eps…of nothing. I’d rather do something else that interests me on Sundays. (Like cooking for the week and going shopping.)
I know that this week was an anime original episode..and while the DBZ parody made me laugh when Hayate was fighting the dudes at the end…I didn’t wanna just blog and be like “uh yea I liked this scene…umm that’s about it.” I’m not sure what it is lately but it’s becoming more and more difficult to blog these kinds of shows and as you can see I’ve been dropping them one by one. Back in the day when downloading anime was hard, you had to watch everything you downloaded cause of all the effort you put into getting the file. Nowdays it’s just a few minutes of torrent gets you what you want (and especially in my case where I don’t have to wait for fansubs.)
Now if you excuse me I have a french manicure to do.

So I basically skipped last week
because I had nothing good to say about it. It was a blah episode to me. Ok let’s think about this: We’re at episode 17…and I still have no idea wtf is the point of this show. Someone tells me it’s gonna be 52 episodes…52 episodes of what? I mean the whole premise of Hayate was cool for the first 7-8 eps but afterwards I’m kinda just sitting there going…so like what’s the point? The bleeped out parodies are no longer funny to me because I never get half of them. The obvious parodies (like the MAR waitress and all the 17th century Klaus paintings) aren’t as “omg lol!” anymore. I mean I enjoy watching the show sometimes and all. I liked this week’s episode of Hayate really trying to help Nagi by making sure that she wasn’t embarrassed in front of everyone. It was really sweet near the end but I can’t help think that “oh they were just parodying some random anime” (like how the title parodied Hand Maid May) and the whole “seriousness” aspect flies away for me. I don’t wanna drop the show but I’m not sure if I’ll be strictly blogging it week to week anymore unless I got something good to say.

So while I was
making dinner this evening I was thinking about how I would blog Hayate. (Well it’s a more interesting thing to think about than “when will the potatoes finish boiling?”) So I’m at a fork in the road here and I can’t decide whether to continue the parody path or move on to the commentary path. I’m the kind of person that like if someone does a detailed summary of a show before me, I feel like no one’s really gonna bother reading my regurgitation of it unless I’m blatantly making fun of a show. It’s hard to make fun of a show that I actually like though. Continue Reading »

So I know
last week was that Haruhi parody and this week the ones I really noticed were the Star Wars text, the usual MAR, I think and FMA one and some other one that slipped my mind. I’m just happy to see the Hayate x Nagi scenes. That girl who confessed her love to him……well while I feel bad for her, I’m still rooting for Nagi. Also I coulda like not watched last week’s episode and woulda known what happened because of all the pointless flashbacks this week.
Upcoming Attractions: Did I hear “kiss” in the preview? Cause I saw Hayate’s face turn red after Maria brought it close to hers…hmm..

I liked the episode this week but I don’t really have any parodies to report. I totally missed all the bleeped out words and I know the grandpa and the pendant was in some other anime but I couldn’t pin point to which one. Also the part where Hayate extends his hand going “I’ll protect you is that ok?” to Nagi, was probably some other show parody. I guess unless I see something directly parodied like Inuyasha or whatnot, its hard for me to directly figure out what they’re trying to make a satire of.
Upcoming Attractions: I think it’s Christmas again? And for some reason Hayate wears a wedding dress o_o (probably another Nagi fantasy.)

Alright I know it was a filler, even the anime itself admitted it but it was pretty awful. It appeared as if like every staff member came up with a parody and they all spliced it together to attempt to make a coherent story…except that it failed. (Hmm what anime have I said THIS before in?) However I did like 2 of the parodies:
Ayanami Rei returns from the End of Evangelion
When I first heard her voice I said “is that Mikuru’s seiyuu it sounds like her!” and then my suspicions were confirmed:

“P.S. This episode was almost as stupid as when JP’s mom took the rib bones that I threw into the trash, OUT of the trash and attempted to tell me that they still had some edible meat on there. I had to convince the woman to throw that back into the garbage because she probably would have eaten them I had I not done this (just like the 10 day expired sour cream…which is still in the refridgerator.)” -JP Meyer

Nothing really stood out to me this week as far as parody. I mean there were a few here and there but nothing obvious (like Inuyasha etc.) I liked the Hinagiku parts where she jokingly said “if it’s you Hayate, then you can do whatever you want~” and the Nagi “i’m worried about you” parts. Oh well it had a lot of blushing Hayate so that’s good. I’ve also come to the conclusion that I don’t really like kimonogirl (forgot her name.) I think I in general dislike those types of boke characters. Hayate & Nagi are still my 2 favorites, but Hinagiku’s not too far behind. OH and also seeing Hayate pee water was…strange.
