Kaichou wa Maid-sama Ch. 29

Published by Hinano at 6:57 pm under Manga

Thanks again to Eileen for providing the scans. It wasn’t really that interesting of a chapter to me. It consisted of Misaki dressing up as a guy to help out one of the maids at the cafe. The maid has a customer there who always came to visit her and I think she wanted to do something for him. So then they had a “pastry eating contest” and the maid asked Misaki to help purposely lose to him so that he could get a “prize photo with the maid”.

Unfortunately for Misaki, Shintani also heard about this contest and decided to enter. And since he has a black hole stomach he beat everybody. Also it appears most people recognized Misaki through her disguise except for him, although he did get suspicious but Misaki managed to cover it up.

We did get a cute Misaki and Takumi scene at least where he made fun of her for wanting to become a fatty and she yelled at him as always saying he doesn’t understand her problems.

In school the following day Shintani invites Misaki to come eat with him at the cafe she works at. :029: Hm I kinda wish the plot would sorta move along. I feel like we’ve been sorta going in circles at this point and now we’ve just added a new character to the mix. I sorta wish she’d wrap things up with the story already.

I think it was the opposite, actually. Erika had inadvertently promised to go on a date with the desperate guy if he won, so she asked Misaki to beat him for her. Thankfully with Shintani there the guy’s chances were reduced to 0.

I know what you mean, though. I did appreciate this chapter for the cake pr0n, but it’s time to start turning the gears a bit. We were teased a ton in the past few chapters about Usui’s past, but it looks like it’s on hold for a while.

    But I REAAAALLLLY want to know about Usui’s past, it looks . . . . . complicated.

L-chan> Oh maybe that too. I didn’t really understand it  Well it wasn’t that important, actually it seemed like another excuse for a Misaki/Takumi scene which annoys because it’s like god stop teasing and give us the goods already!!

    Yes I translate them myself.

Is there a plot in this manga from the start?

  6. L-chanon 25 Aug 2008 at 2:33 pm

@Kokoja: Sort of. We have a basic background of why Misaki works as both a maid in a cafe and as the president of her school council, the first of which is to make money to pay her family’s giant debts and the latter because she wants to change her 80% boys school into a better place for girls.

As for Usui, we’ve only been given small, tantalizing tidbits about what makes him tick and why he’s in love with Misaki. There’s hints that he may come from quite the priveleged background, but there’s nothing concrete. All we know is that he’s considered quite the “perfect prince.”
