Fall is around the corner.

Published by Hinano at 3:04 pm under Unsorted

And that means it’s time for a super brief preview - read as what shows I actually plan to blog. Big thanks to Impz & Co. because I’m too lazy to actually put effort into researching shows beyond their promo image. Also just as an FYI, I am behind on my drama watching. I’m hoping I can catch up today but I find that watching dramas back to back is easier than watching it weekly. (I forget drama characters’ names REALLY fast especially if I know the name of the actual actor. :029: )

Definitely blogging:
Tales of the Abyss - I’ve blogged like almost every RPG based anime that comes out. I have a twisted attraction to these things.
Clannad ~After Story~ - Well now that all the other hoes are out of the way we can have some decent anime adapdation. (Or so I hope. )
Skip Beat - This will be the Itazura na Kiss replacement this fall.

Possible pick ups:
Hakushaku to Yousei - the guy on the promo image looks smexy.
Hyakko - Only if it’s not fanservice fodder like sekitits.
Kemeko - It has rabid rice cookers? Umm I dunno we’ll see about this one.
Yozakura Shijuusou - Gives me Abenobashi x NHK vibes. Could be interesting.
Shikabane Hime: Aka - So is this like Soul Eater? Except she needs 108 not 100. Will check it out, hopefully it’s not like Gurenn Lagann lol
To Aru Majutsu no Index - I will check it out but since it’s done by JC Staff I don’t have high hopes.
Toradora- This would be the replacement for Zero no Tsukaima, and well if we get kissing I think I’m on board.
Akane Iro ni Somaru Saka - Another eroge adaptation. This will instantly win or fail in my book so it better make a good first impression.

Man it’s the season of light novel adapdations. Maybe I should write a light novel about RenAi Blogger and hope that it gets turned into an animu. :105: Pretty light and pitiful season if you ask me, then again my interest in anime is waning because you can only watch the exact same character archetypes & storylines so many times…

And well I’m not even gonna bother listing what I’m not blogging because most likely I won’t even bother watching the rest. As far as dramas - no idea at this point. It would have to be a pretty amazing drama for me to care enough to blog it weekly at this point.

P.S. No, I am not blogging season 2 of junjou romantica.

    SKIP BEAT!!! *jubilation* :038: :123:

Be excited for Skip Beat. Miyano Mamoru AND Katsuyuki Konishi play the male leads. *glee*

Now hopefully you can FINALLY see what the rest of us are talking about when we discuss the awesomeness of this series. (let’s just hope the anime lives up to the manga and doesn’t ruin it like Special A)

  2. Saiyo-chanon 19 Aug 2008 at 3:27 pm

Wow there are so many great shows to watch!

    I’m so excited!

  3. Hinanoon 19 Aug 2008 at 3:36 pm

L-chan> LOL I’ve been avoiding spoilers like the plague

Hinano > “Pretty light and pitiful season if you ask me, then again my interest in anime is waning because you can only watch the exact same character archetypes & storylines so many times…”

It’s more the former than the later this season, methinks, though it is really disheartening to see J.C. Staff essentially remaking the same show they’ve been making for the last five years once again.

  5. DSon 19 Aug 2008 at 4:13 pm

But when I saw there’d be season 2 of junjou romantica, my first thought was of you!

  6. kakoishiion 19 Aug 2008 at 4:20 pm

aww, you’re not a nodame fan hinano? The nodame contabile second season, vampire knight second season, tales of abyss, and skip beat are all my definites to watch for the fall. While Ef a tale of melodies is on the low end of my maybe’s list, if you’ve ever seen ef a tale of memories you’d know why

  7. Hinanoon 19 Aug 2008 at 4:25 pm

kakoishii> EF can suck a cock. Fucking photoshop filter anime  I didn’t get into Nodame season 1, not bothering with season 2. VK S1 annoyed me (actually all VK in general annoys me now).

Digi> It’s weird cause back in ye olden days all their anime wasn’t a replica of zero no tsukaima! :???:

  8. Jayerson 19 Aug 2008 at 5:15 pm

    Aw no Junjou Romatica?
I started reading your blog because you blogged the first season. Your comments are always so funny.

  9. Meowson 19 Aug 2008 at 5:26 pm

^^ I’m only looking forward to Tytania and Gundam. Will watch Jigoku Shojou as well, but mostly because i watched the first two seasons ^^;. Everything else is blah.

  10. Meowson 19 Aug 2008 at 5:28 pm

^^; well, and Casshern of course, but that’s not till late autumn.

  11. HyperlyGeneticon 19 Aug 2008 at 5:35 pm

I’m defiantly watching Skip Beat, so I’ll look forward to those blogs for sure =D! I’m not interested in too many other shows coming out, I’ll probably still give a few a shot though.

Like I’m probably going to watch the show called Maria Holic XD! It seems ridiculous, a lesbian falling in love with a cross-dressing boy, ummm wtf haha.

  12. Ruliannon 19 Aug 2008 at 5:54 pm

I can see you loving Skip Beat although I’m a bit afaid of that animation quality. Kyoko, the main heroine, is totally you: bitter and feisty

  13. Caitlinon 19 Aug 2008 at 6:26 pm

Hmm…okay maybe Tales of Abyss for me too. It can be my gaming surrogate, seeing as I have absolutely no console anymore. T-T But this is if Hyakko turns out to be fanservice too.

  14. Ghost of Sixtenon 19 Aug 2008 at 6:42 pm

Just because J.C.Staff has done three seasons of Familiar of Zero and two seasons of Shana and the upcoming Toradora doesn’t mean all their shows are tsundere loli central. Starting from Zero 2.0’s season we’ve also had Potemayo, Skygirls, Kimikiss, Shigofumi, Nabari, Slayers, and Nodame. What about those is like Shana/Louise/Taiga?

I’ll admit J.C.Staff is highly inconsistent - they always have been, even in the eyes of a highly biased J.C.Staff fanboy like myself. Even in the past they’ve messed up shows like Lunar Legend Tsukihime, Melody of Oblivion, Doki Doki School Hours, and others. Shana and Louise attract a lot of attention and their shows turned into fail, so people are having a bad impression of J.C.Staff. But of their recent shows, Nabari and Slayers are solid, Shigofumi and Nodame are good, and Potemayo is classic. There’s still plenty of quality and variety from J.C.Staff - you’re just looking in the wrong direction.

I understand your doubts about Magical Index - its director, Hiroshi Nishikiori, did both the not so good Melody of Oblivion and the timeless Azumanga Daioh. Which Nishikiori will show up for Index? It may indeed turn into fail, but it could also be the best show of the year.

Magical Index also has a lot of lolis. That’s a good sign.

  15. LDCon 19 Aug 2008 at 6:54 pm

This fall is full of win.
I’m checking out about 14 shows.

  16. Hinanoon 19 Aug 2008 at 7:20 pm

Ruliann> Ruritan! :031: Haha if she kicks ass like in Hana Yori Dango that will be win

Sixten> Lolis are not win, you freaking pedophile. I actually liked JC Staff’s Karin, until the end where they screwed it up. Slayers is okay, well Slayers Revolution is okay but maybe it will get more exciting towards the middle, as it always did with the previous series.

Jayers> I got tired of the rabid fangirls nitpicking me about every detail because they read the manga while I couldn’t care less :029:

  17. Di Gi Kazuneon 19 Aug 2008 at 8:27 pm

Tales of the Abyss - I’ve blogged like almost every RPG based anime that comes out. I have a twisted attraction to these things.

To the point of suicidal fanaticism even if it’s crap.

There is a limit to lolis like boobs. That is why strike lolis is crap.

Hinano, ef is already about sucking cocks. It’s a h-game derivative afterall.

After seeing the previews yesterday, I have come to the conclusion: Every season is making the previous season look better. No matter how crap I say each season is, the following season seems to take it one better. Just give me my Kojika 2nd Term and I’ll be happy.

The studios are beyond scraping the bottom of the barrel. A few years back they started scraping the H-games for shows. Now they are doing it to light novels. What next when they run out of things to do? “The adventures of knife-tan in Akihabara”? Or “Bombing Komiket”? “Osama loev Loli”?

  18. usagijenon 19 Aug 2008 at 9:50 pm

I was thinking of saying, Skip Beat certainly won’t disappoint! Then I remembered I was talking about the manga and not the anime… yet xD Hurray for more Skip Beat love!! I’d say love the manga, but not let it get in the way of enjoying the anime? If that’s possible lol.

I didn’t watch Nodame s1 back then too, but now I’m slowly catching up for the Fall… so I can go ~mukyaa! with the rest of the fans XD

  19. usagijenon 19 Aug 2008 at 9:52 pm

Oh and about Kyoko, Makino Tsukushi in HYD is totally noo match for her ;)

  20. akonon 19 Aug 2008 at 11:44 pm

Shikabane Hime looks interesting..will dig up more info on it.

  21. Sheryl Nomeon 20 Aug 2008 at 12:36 am

I don’t think Toradora will have kissing. XD From what I’ve read (a few chapters of the manga), it seems more comedic than romantic.

As for the season, I won’t be able to enjoy it that much because of school. It’s just Macross Frontier and Toradora! for me.

  22. JohnGon 20 Aug 2008 at 1:15 am

Kemeko is going to be CRAZY. I dunno if it’s your cup-o-tea though. Other than that, of those you posted I’m probably only interested in Tora Dora. The main couple starts of antagonistic and in love with other people so I dunno how long you are going to be able to keep waiting for kissing.

  23. midenzon 20 Aug 2008 at 4:24 am

w00tz, alot of great shows to watch. i cannot wait XD!! Espically for Kemeko!

  24. Telliamedon 20 Aug 2008 at 4:57 am

Already? My this summer was too short.

    >>> Kemeko - It has rabid rice cookers? Umm I dunno we’ll see about this one.

Big-breasted freak jumps into a loser siscon’s window and says she wants to have intimate relations with him much to the consternation of the plain and timid girl who secretly has a crush on him.

    Again?

Really, the manga gave off huge FLCL-wannabe vibes. But it’s being animated by Hal Films who did a good job with Night Wizard. I’ll check it out expecting to be disappointed.

And JC Staff probably thinks they have another R.O.D. on their hands with ToAru:Index. Of course they’re mistaken and would’ve been better to have jumped straight to ToAru:Railgun which is more about randomly blowing stuff up.

Only shows I’m really looking forward to are ef and 5-2. And though I’ll watch Clannad, I know I won’t like it since I absolutely hated the first half. (Is Nonaka Ai still listed in the cast?)

  25. padfoot135on 20 Aug 2008 at 5:53 am

Im all in for the tales of abyss and clannad ~after story~… clannad has been great since the first season soo i hope it continews in the after story… and im a huge fan of Tales RPG series soo how can i miss that !!! i would bang my head on window if i miss it.. and i think this season does’t have much of action anime.. if u count out Abyss oh and hino… do check out Kyou no Go no Ni.. the ova was intresting  little boys and gals growing up  and i think u should check out Chaos;Head too.. it reminds me of night wizard… so might think u will love it.. from the trailers .. i think they aint gona be going easy on the bloods =) soo hope u might find that intresting

  26. Daniel Hawkingon 20 Aug 2008 at 7:49 am

Tales of the Abyss was a pretty good game in my opinion. Hopefully, the anime will live up to expectation.

  27. Hinanoon 20 Aug 2008 at 12:09 pm

Digi> The day they make an anime about the middle east is the day I retire.

    jen> I like what I hear!

Sheryl> Yea everyone is telling me this too now…looks like I may not be picking it up after all. I can’t have a tsun without a dere.

Telliamed> So its like rosario to pantsu? bah.

  28. Di Gi Kazuneon 20 Aug 2008 at 12:36 pm

    Hinano> They already have… It’s in Gundam 00. >_>

  29. Di Gi Kazuneon 20 Aug 2008 at 12:38 pm

Galactic Fairy> Macross Frontier finishes soon. NoAM :P

  30. ewokon 20 Aug 2008 at 1:19 pm

I like the new gainax heroine, an aura of badassitude around her…
    Shikabane Hime: Aka
other than that witch/demon/vampie hunting themes are cool as usual to me…
    Vampire Knight Guilty
    Yozakura Shijuusou ~Yozakura Quartet~
    Ga-rei-zero
    finally:
    CHAOS;HEAD
    Crime-mystery-supernatural-science mix… Higurashi anyone? I am on!

  31. Haesslichon 20 Aug 2008 at 1:33 pm

Toradora has the dere… but it’s more that she wants the guys best friend, and she can’t even talk to said guy, so shy and embarassed she becomes, and she blocks any moves he wants to make on HER best (only) friend as long as she can’t make progress. And, because he cooks and cleans for her, and he tries to help her get over the shyness to advance her non-relationship into relationship status the rest of their class think they’re dating.

It doesn’t help that he tries to protect her from harm, fearig the rumors that she’s a Yakuza daughter… which leads him into dramatically taking a hit or two.

  32. blablaon 20 Aug 2008 at 5:25 pm

i know this is totally irrelevant, but can you please continue blogging about shugo chara, i love the show and the manga, so please, i don’t know where else to go for information about the show, and I love your blogging. :105:

  33. Haesslichon 21 Aug 2008 at 1:36 am

    http://www.onemanga.com/Tora_Dora/6/09/

Incidentally, if you want the ‘dere’ Aisaka… here she is. After failing to deliver HER cookies to Kitamura (the boy she likes, Ryuji’s best friend), he gives her some of his and here’s her response.

  34. Haesslichon 21 Aug 2008 at 1:40 am

Oh, and since the spam filter ate the last one… the ‘tsun’ comes a few pages later (about five pages after that last one). Just so you know what you’re getting into.

  35. Shinon 21 Aug 2008 at 9:23 am

Till today, nothing has dethroned Nodame Cantabile as my favorite slice of life anime. Pity that not everyone likes it, which is odd, since I hate the genre and actually love the show to bits.

  36. Hinanoon 21 Aug 2008 at 9:55 am

Haesslich> Thanks for the link although after reading a couple pages I got beaten down with generic tsundere syndrome but not in a good way. Not sure if I’ll be picking up this show anymore as JC Staff tends to make bad even worse.

  37. Haesslichon 21 Aug 2008 at 12:47 pm

not quite generic… but she is dere towards someone else, which is the twist. I’ll give it a chance as J.C. Staff did once mean quality even if it was hit and miss. Certainly I’d have to say it’s more entertaining than some of the shows you’ve covered in the past. Like Zero no Tsukaima where she’s a psychotic tsundere who would murder Saito for not looking at her even though she’s standing behind him. At least this show has the potential to be intentionally funny and not painful to watch. And not harem.

Now I pity Kugimiya Rie for being typecast as the small wrathful tsundere…

  38. A Day Without Meon 21 Aug 2008 at 11:55 pm

NOOO you’re not blogging Junjou Romantica 2? What a disappointment! Where else am I going to read about episodes of the trashiest show I’ll actually watch?

  39. Haesslichon 22 Aug 2008 at 3:16 am

By the way, Hinano, just went through Chapter 8 of the manga. It’s somewhat more… well, it’s not romance yet, but there’s more dere than ZnT. And without the sluttiness.

  40. Haesslichon 22 Aug 2008 at 6:07 am

.. and I just finished the first volume of the light novel series the manga’s based on, and I take back the ‘no romance’ thing.

  41. Haesslichon 23 Aug 2008 at 2:25 am

    … and from the novels…

“I’m just saying this in advance, but that house over there is Ryuuji’s home. There are quite a few problems concerning the safety over there. Seriously, one time in the dead of night, I sneaked in through the window and nearly beat Ryuuji to death…It was easy. Easier than breathing.”

… yup, I’m in love. :D At least she gets dere-dere parts.

  42. Haesslichon 24 Aug 2008 at 3:22 am

And one last note - Taiga did get dere-dere at the end of the first novel/chapter 11 of the manga - which took ZnT two whole seasons of 26 episodes to do. I’d suggest sampling the anime of they follow the storyline of the manga or novel.

  43. Haesslichon 25 Aug 2008 at 1:26 am

    http://www.onemanga.com/Tora_Dora/11/05/

Slightly less than accurate translation, but close. This is what I was talking about. Better than Louse usually manages.

And I’m spamming an old post… but this is better than ZnT’s been. Time to see how J.C. Staff will screw this one up as they did ZnT.

  44. Haesslichon 31 Aug 2008 at 12:05 am

Crap. J.C. Staff’s designs for the anime make Taiga look like Chiaki from Minami-ke, Ami looks like Ryoko Asakura from Haruhi, and Minorin… looks funny.

It looks like they found a way to butcher the manga after all, after all that pretty art… and they’re stealing character designs from other popular shows because they apparently can’t even get their character designers to work. :P
