Special A: Ch. 76-81

Well uhm due to the small response to my Vol. 13 post I’d just like to reconfirm if anyone is still interested in me covering Special A manga chapter? I know I was a little behind but now I’m finally caught up. I’m splitting the post even though I was planning to review up to chapter 87…but if not too many are interested or there’s maybe someone who did this already then I won’t bother continuing after this. So please voice your opinion thanks :105:

Chapter 76 introduces a new kid named Tokiwa who ends up being #2 in the school rankings. With this Hikari is excited because now she has a “buddy” who is also striving to be #1. She gets a bit friendly with him, much to Kei’s dismay. Kei of course being Hikari’s stalker does not let this just pass by. :twisted:

Great cockblocking! And so Tokiwa never gets to confess his feelings for Hikari who’s basically nursed him while he was sick from all those part time jobs he took on. His dream is to open up his own hair salon I think.

Kei takes Hikari and tells her she had to “be careful” but since Hikari is dense as a brick it took Kei a hot passionate kiss to get some wheels turning in her head. :031:

And boy did they start turning… :twisted:

Hikari ends up running away from Kei and avoiding him because she can’t stop drooling at his hotness (And who can blame her?) Eventually he “challenges” her to get her to tell him why she’s been avoiding him. It makes him so happy when he hears her answer though. :oops:

Meanwhile things are moving with the Ryu x Fin pairing. For Golden Week they have to decide where to go on vacation and they end up deciding to stay in Japan or go to Fin’s country. So the twins challenge Fin to a dual because they don’t want Ryu being hogged. They have faith that Ryu will pick them but he picks Fin.

He says he does it because Fin’s country is a music one but I personally think it’s cause he’s starting to fall for her… :oops:

The story turns back on Hikari and Kei and Tokiwa. During some event (I forgot sorry ^^;) Hikari ends up as Tokiwa’s partner and of course she doesn’t see anything about it but Tokiwa has other plans in mind. At one point when Tokiwa and Hikari get separated Kei confronts him and tells him to keep away from his woman. :043: Hikari suddenly appears and has no idea what’s going on.

Anyway there hasn’t been any continuation to this so far up to ch. 87 so maybe later we’ll see more on the Tokiwa/Kei rivalry. By this point you should know that Hikari considers Kei her boyfriend even if she’s incredibly shy about it :grin:

    thanks so much for the summary it totally feeds my craving for kei and hikari paring. ive been trying forever to see what has been going on with everyone in SA recently so your review helps. im glad hikari is finally growing some sense since like the first 50 chs i wanted to :043: her out for being so dumb. i hope you still do some coverage on SA itd be much appreciated :105:

    Imo this is one of the best shojo manga’s ever- I get so fangirly over it :123:

    I wish you would have blogged the part with Ryuu X Finns kiss- but that was back in volume 9 haha, it was just so freaking adorable!!! I wish they would have done more with it though… you’d think you would have seen Ryuu’s thoughts and feelings, but nope, they go straight into Hikari and Kei :cry: Though I have to admit, they have gotten super adorable as well.

    I think you should keep blogging SA’s manga. I’ve already read summaries of a lot of these chapters now, but I really like reading your summaries and thoughts especially. I just love the way you summarize the chapters. I can’t say what it is specifically, but I guess I enjoy reading someone else talking about KeixHikari since anyone blogging just the anime thinks that Kei and Hikari are a boring pairing.

    So, please keep blogging the manga!

    Special A gets so cute and adorable, I’m so glad they start going out and Hikari stops failing. Ish.

    By the way, have you ever read the manga Nosatsu Junkie? Or in Japan, Charming Junkie? I think you would really like it. It’s one of my favorites, check it out :].
