Japan attempts to make us more fashionable with Poupee Girl
Just for the record, this post is for my female readers. All you mans are not invited. 
The one thing I admire about Japan is all their really cute avatar services. While all we get are the simple 
emoticons, or hideous tranny chatrooms, they have really cute anime style dolls which you can get various clothing and room accessories for.
The downside? Most of these services require you to pay if you want to have more than the default tshirt and jeans. But to combat this, and to open doors to foreigners comes Poupee Girl - Poupee being the french word for doll. I guess the goal of the site is to have a resource for clothing from various brands - but the difference is, these are clothing from people who actually buy it. It’s not a magazine scan that you never know where the hell you’re gonna get. It’s a photo from someone’s bedroom or living room of their clothes that they actually purchased.
(Of course you do have idiots who try to upload magazine scans but they eventually get caught and their account suspended.) In any case, a friend of mine told me about the site and when I joined I instantly got addicted. I’m not a fashion mogul or anything so a lot of the crap I uploaded is some unheard of brand, but I happen to have a huge collection of H&M items.
The other downside is most brands are either expensive American brands, or standard Japanese brands. So you won’t find stuff like Unionbay or anything from Kohls and Kmart on there. However if you often shop at the GAP, H&M and Uniqlo, then you should have no problems uploading pics of your items. You don’t have to upload brand name items, however when you upload brand name ones, often you get a better piece of clothing for your doll and more ribbons.
In addition you can take “purikura” with your friends’ dolls on there and add photos of your doll to your blog (although I think you need an amoeba blog for that to work.) You can also sell any clothing item you get in the flea market.
What kind of users go to Poupee Girl? Pretty much everyone. While the site is in Japan and all events are Japan time, I’ve seen people on there ranging from Thailand to Spain. They are making the site more and more English friendly so it’s a lot easier to understand how things work once you join. The site’s currency is in “ribbons” and every time you upload clothing you get x amount of ribbons. Great huh? No more having to buy credits at some Japanese convenience store to dress up your avatar!
Every couple weeks the site’s owner, Cathrine has an event such as changing the background for your doll photos. (By the way if you take a pic of your doll once every 24 hours you automatically earn 10 ribbons!) Currently the event features a “summer cruise” hence my nice boat image above.

I spent about an hour on it so far (just wandering around the site and feeling envious already). I know I’ll probably lose track of time and spend hours setting mine up, so I’ll have to take a break and do all that stuff tomorrow (or at 3AM as it usually works out).
I had a an account there cause i used to use it as a guide to draw clothes from but i got tired of trying to navigate through the website with only guesses seeing as how i cant understand any other language other than english.. but seeing as how their making it more “english friendly” ill check my account out XD
I only just made the account this year around febuarary but i had no friends either soo i was reluctant to stay but since il at least have 1 friend there ill be back more often
