Oh HELL NO.

Published by Hinano at 9:45 am under Shugo Chara

A 2nd season of Shugo Chara? Another 30 episodes of filler? I think I’ll have to pass. After 52 that’s it for me. Ugh.

 It was hard-enough time making 52 episodes with as much material as they had! Ha, ha. How the heck are they going to make 30 more episodes? Nom, nom, nom. Filler.

  2. Nana UNITED STATESon 20 Jul 2008 at 10:15 am

Ugh, more fillers… I’m thinking they’ll probably use some of the material from the newer chapters though since a lot happens in them.

  3. Kirokokori UNITED STATESon 20 Jul 2008 at 10:17 am

Well, there’s hope that it WON’T all be filler…maybe?
I haven’t been keeping up with the show for awhile, I’ve been going back and watching older series I never saw, so I didn’t know the filler situation was so bad.

  4. Hinano UNITED STATESon 20 Jul 2008 at 10:18 am

    of course it’ll be filler.
That’s why I said 30 episodes. The other 22 will probably be actual story with whatever manga chapters they have but I can’t take another 30 of filler. It’s like Kirarin Revolution all over again

  5. FuyuMaiden UNITED STATESon 20 Jul 2008 at 10:23 am

Ah. Fillers. I totally forgot about that. I had it together enough to think that they might decide to add in a bunch of fillers to finish off this season (and start fresh with volume 7). But I totally forgot about next season.

…Well, at least the episodes that aren’t fillers are good. I can still look forward to those. It really depends on when season 2 starts I guess. If they wait until the manga is over or almost over it should be fine, but if they start right away, there might even be a whole filler arc. Ugh. Even I might drop it then.

No, it’ll be 30 episodes of complete and utter failAIDS, unless you’re a pedo or something :V

    LoliPr0n?
    Charanaripr0n?

    An entire season worth?
    Even I have limits.

  9. DS UNITED STATESon 20 Jul 2008 at 11:17 am

I guess this means I’ll just stick to the manga and for me that means the US releases :P

  10. scottfrye UNITED STATESon 20 Jul 2008 at 11:46 am

Why do we need more? I guess I will have to switch over to manga or just end it all when the anime is over. I think I will probably stop and move on to other things.

@Hinano: Says you! I think the 2nd season will be great! At least its popular!

Another thing that would make my boring Sundays great would be a 2nd Shounen Onmyouji season. That’s my #1 favorite anime!

  12. Drakron PORTUGALon 20 Jul 2008 at 12:27 pm

    “Why do we need more?”

Well … its about ratings and demographics, I have no idea how well Shugo Chara is doing but a 2nd season after a 52 episodes series seems to indicate its doing well.

  13. NegativeZero AUSTRALIAon 20 Jul 2008 at 12:29 pm

I’d much rather another season of half-filler half-plot Shugo Chara than yet another formulaic Precure series. At least it’s got interesting characters and actually mixes stuff up a bit.

  14. Warpshadow UNITED STATESon 20 Jul 2008 at 12:41 pm

Are you really all that surprised though? Magical girl shows are infamous for their filler episodes, almost to the point of eclipsing shonen fighting shows in this area.

  15. [...] Unlike the naysayers, I’ve enjoyed the majority of Shugo Chara, with and without the filler. Sure, we’ve had some rough spots (the recent string of fillers was very ), yet I see Shugo Chara as the best pure magical girl series since Cardcaptor Sakura. [...]

  16. Di Gi Kazune MALAYSIAon 20 Jul 2008 at 1:00 pm

Shugo Chara is doing well in the male lolicon demographic. Hence another season of naked transformation!

  17. mixed PHILIPPINESon 20 Jul 2008 at 1:22 pm

hmmm.. would be better IF it will be a Shugo Chara! Movie.. (well most animé movies are “FILLERs”, so to me it would be better that way, still I would watch it even if it is a 2nd season full of fillers   ) According to a friend of mine who resides in Japan.. Shugo Chara! is pretty popular!!

  18. kakoishii UNITED STATESon 20 Jul 2008 at 2:31 pm

I think I might pass, I can only stomach mahou shoujo series that have a direction to the plot rather than being saturated in menial fillers, oh and is it just me or has character development gone completely out the window in this show? Simply put without hinano around to let me know which episodes or worth seeing I’d be stuck sifting through all those episodes first hand, and something tells me that’d be just painful.

  19. EX-Keine UNITED STATESon 20 Jul 2008 at 3:22 pm

Magical girl series with fillers are bad.

However, shows like Hayate the Combat Butler has fillers that are acceptable by my terms, for 52 eps. I enjoyed the whole ride of that one, and I can’t wait for another 52 more later, just because Hinagiku and Maria the maid are pure love…

Forgive me for saying this, but I just want to go “HAHA!” on you for, correct me if I’m wrong, saying that you wouldn’t care(?) for the aformentioned show and thus chose the wrong road at the fork leading to this post. Sound like Shugo Chara was a little bit of a waste, eh?

  20. Liinae CANADAon 20 Jul 2008 at 3:49 pm

but if it were amuto fillers than i’m fine with that C:

  23. JustAnotherReader UNITED STATESon 20 Jul 2008 at 6:11 pm

actually….i will consider watching it IF it has more character development and ikuto appears more often…preferably a main character  but i will probably end up watching it anyways if it is lucky enough to have a fansub group but somehow im doubting it with the recent post that formula sub made…that would suck…..i have this thing about not dropping a series, but because of that i have suffered through many unbearable animes  well lets see what happens with it…hopefully i wont go brain-dead bc of fillers

  24. Vangui ARGENTINAon 20 Jul 2008 at 6:16 pm

A second season means they don’t have to invent an original anime ending, so it isn’t really bad, even if it is 90% fillers.

  25. Rose AUSTRALIAon 20 Jul 2008 at 8:56 pm

Fillers are really just original animated material that shows us more of the characters we love and gives us more entertainment. How could that be bad?

That said, personally, I think a second series is wonderful news. Depending on what happens in the rest of this first series, it’s very likely that the second series will have the Ikuto arc - or at least part of it. Isn’t he the reason why so many of us are watching this?

Besides - this means that the anime won’t have some lame ‘tie up everything in 7-8 eps’ ending. I definitely prefer a second season to that.

  26. Mamotte!_Manga_Fan UNITED STATESon 20 Jul 2008 at 11:16 pm

they aren’t gonna be fillers. It’s gonna be the Ikuto Saga. It’s gonna be about Ikuto and Amu’s final battle with Easter, and possibly Amuto love? :D

  27. totali UNITED STATESon 20 Jul 2008 at 11:21 pm

    moar liek o hell yes!

Nobody can stop the power of Amu’s heart beam!

  28. Mika UNITED STATESon 20 Jul 2008 at 11:44 pm

UGH! MORE? WTF? I thought they’d just add some filler ending, but they just HAD to stretch it, didn’t they? Weeeeeellll, you should at least check other blogs who blog this show despite fillers- pick out the non-fillers and watch those and maybe even blog them? (MAYBE THERE’LL BE AMUTO FILLERS FINALLY?! KYA!) I’d really like to see the Ikuto arc and Amuto in bed animated.

  30. Hoshina UNITED STATESon 21 Jul 2008 at 2:57 am

Just as long as the show is still going I don’t care if they are fillers! this makes me wonder what will happen, I hope that they live up to my expectations.

  31. Hinano UNITED STATESon 21 Jul 2008 at 9:20 am

I find it funny how some bloggers are all like YAY 2nd SEASON! but no one but me has been blogging this show.

  32. Di Gi Kazune MALAYSIAon 21 Jul 2008 at 9:31 am

I just realised that 500 was in ZnT3 so… 501 gets to be here. I find it funny how the said bloggers don’t blog season one and want to commit suicide all about season 2. I really don’t believe that they are even watching Shugo Filler Chara. It’s like…… watching kanopr0n for the plot and then commenting how non-pr0n it is!

Given that 26 episodes of Pitaten with 4 volumes of material was… atrocious and 26 episodes of Kamichama was in Hinano’s words… -insert a random hinano comment here-, I seriously doubt 52 + 26(or 52) of shugo chara on 7 volumes is going to turn out any better.

I’m waiting to see how much pain it will cause when Kamichama Chu! comes out… animated. And oh yes, Kazune looks cute in a nun habit.

The summary: I’m waiting for another season of Macross Frontier and cute Ranka instead.

  33. Hinano UNITED STATESon 21 Jul 2008 at 10:36 am

The problem is, ep 42 is gonna conclude volume 6, and volume 7 just came out. Obviously its gonna be like 90% filler.

  34. Rose AUSTRALIAon 21 Jul 2008 at 11:25 am

Just because a second series is ‘green lit’ doesn’t mean that it’s going to be on the air the week after season one finishes, though. Doesn’t ‘green lit’ just mean that a second series has been approved for work to be started on it? It takes time to create a series - a year or two break between seasons of an anime isn’t unusual. The manga has been coming out pretty steadily, so there could well be another five volumes out by the time the second series catches up to that point. After all, the current episodes of the anime would have been made long before the corresponding events appeared in the manga.

What amuses me about the ‘filler’ debate is that if the anime had started airing before the manga came out, then the complaints wouldn’t be about how many filler eps there are, but how much of the story was left out of the manga

  35. Di Gi Kazune MALAYSIAon 21 Jul 2008 at 12:44 pm

It won’t be fillers… It’ll just take 3 episodes to power up just like Dragonball! Or was it 5 episodes to power up?

  36. Melissa UNITED STATESon 21 Jul 2008 at 1:09 pm

Even though there are fillers, there might be some Amuto scenes so I am going to watch it.

  37. Mika UNITED STATESon 21 Jul 2008 at 7:18 pm

I think Simplicity, the blog you just linked in your post will probably do the second season. She says she’s thinking about it, but she’s already done up to 41- even the fillers. So there’s a big chance she’ll blog it. Let’s hope so. Cuz I don’t want to watch the whole season, just the Amuto.

OR they will continue fist season with a LOT of fillers and continue the story in a seconed season which will be HORRIBLE! i hope that will not happen but if seoned season is all about healing X eggs  then i am not going to watch it BUT if it has something to do with AMUTO then YEAH !

  41. Luna-chan UNITED STATESon 22 Jul 2008 at 4:32 pm

Oh hell no? are you kidding? the recent chapters prove this season’s going to be nice, better than ending it with just nothing. No crappy anime-original ending, more amu and ikuto fun. What could be better? Besides the fillers in this show aren’t that bad, I watch them. Why must fillers be hated?(plus you can just skip them if you want) And if you notice most of the character development happens after Dia’s arc, so I’m sure the character development will pick up in the anime as well.
Come on you guys, be a little optimistic. Dont you wanna see the AMUTO?
(and youre not the only one who blogs this, simplicity does a nice indepth blog on it)

 I totally agree… don’t think I could stand another 51-something episodes either. Trying to finish this series is enough!

But I do love your title for this post: “Oh, Hell NO…” Classic!
