Persona -Trinity Soul- 24

Published by Hinano at 10:19 pm under Persona

Wow this show just gets more and more depressing.

This week featured a blast to the past of the incident that started the whole persona-fication of the entire town. While they explained it in detail and I tried to catch the details here and there, this episode basically confirmed my “understanding” of the entire incident. The episode actually started back when Shin, Ryo, Yuki and Jun were really young. I think this was a 10 year flashback so Shin would have been about 7, Yuki/Jun would have been like 4 and Ryo woulda been like 18 or so.

Omg they were all so cute. Anyway shit hit the fan the moment Ayane was tired of being the experimental subject and she jumped off one of the helicopters that all the professors were on. This included Shin’s parents as well. So basically this is like a “my boyfriend’s back” story, except with a loli that uses her Persona to eat people instead. So anyway everything is going well for the Kanzato family and one fateful day all hell breaks loose.

While Eiko is babysitting Shin, Yuki and Jun at the amusement park, Ryo’s parents decide to tell Ryo about their past. They explain that they quit the research team because they didn’t wanna be screwing with human’s hearts and minds. They said they’ve been running from it ever since they raised their family. All of a sudden, loli Ayane appears and she’s fucking pissed and out to take revenge on basically everyone who screwed with her. (Which is total bullshit because according to previous episodes, she volunteered to do it because she wanted to please the erojiji.)

So she basically whips out her persona, and uses it to suck all the life out of Ryo’s parents - right in front of him. Ryo is so shocked but before he can do anything, Shin randomly shows up (because he went to look for Ryo since he wanted Ryo and Eiko to get together cause he knew Eiko had a crush on Ryo). Shin shows up to see his parents being mutilated to death and suddenly he whips out his persona as well. His persona like destroys Ayane’s, and she gets so pissed a huge explosion happens.

The shockwave is so huge that it causes chaos all over the city. A lot of people get killed, accidents happen and Yuki and Jun are also injured in this accident. Ryo takes Shin to a shelter and asks Eiko to watch after him. Shin at this point is like lifeless because of the scene he just witnessed but Ryo doesn’t tell her anything. Instead he goes to find out what the deal with Yuki and Jun is. That kusojiji is there and he lies to him telling him that Yuki is injured too badly but her brain is intact, while Jun is mainly ok but he suffered heavy brain damage. His solution is to take Yuki’s brain and put it into Jun’s body.

He says that after this surgery though Jun may share some of “yuki’s memories”. Well that explains why Yuki sometimes comes out of Jun like in that one episode. Unfortunately Ryo has to make the decision on the spot since at this point both of his parents are dead and he’s basically now the “head” of the family. He signs the contract and agrees to do this. After a few days Jun’s surgery goes well and he recovers. Also one day Ryo finds Shin curled up in the shed where his parents used to do their work - blaming himself for Yuki’s death. Ryo hugs him and tells him that it’s not true.

Time passes and it seems like Shin and Jun are “back to normal”. Ryo eventually decides to go to Kyoto (or wherever her goes to study). Shin is really sad that Ryo will be leaving and before he leaves, Jun turns into Yuki and says “please give me a horseback ride again” (which is something Ryo did to Yuki earlier in the flashback.) Flash back ends, Shin wakes up in the common area of the dormitory and begins to cry. He’s finally remembered that incident from that time and now everything makes sense.

The episode ends with some pan shots of the following:

Yuki and the Kanzato parents’ grave.

Eiko’s grave.

Kanaru’s grave.

At the end Ayane says “Instead of the boy, the future was given to you.” The boy being the one in Kujira no Hane. Gosh this anime is so depressing. I told you Kanaru is gone for good.

Upcoming Attractions: Shin is all alone.

It’s the book that Shin’s mom created - the one Jun really likes.

    The show of Unrequited love

Takurou>megumi - actually thought saki was a better match for taku plus Megumi is cool but street dances which isn’t

kanaru>shin - shin aint no robosexual plus she was swinging albeit with shadows.

    eiko > ryou

Hoping this doesn’t turn into some PlatiniumHugen Ordian nonsense where Shin or his persona becomes the remaker and brings everyone back.

if I got it right, little ms. red head came back for the Kanzato parents because she wanted their souls, I think, for what reason I’m not sure, but their persona/soul (?) were intertwined with a sword linking them, so I’m guessing it has something to do with that (which didn’t make sense to me, Shin’s persona stole that sword and used it as his own??? then what weapon was he supposed to use originally, hands?), since she looked horrified to see the two persona disappear.

I wonder why Shin was wearing Soutaru’s outfit in these flashbacks? Is there a connection between them? Is Soutaru a orphan child that Ryou and Eiko secretly had? Is he a creature made from the split-off memories of Shin’s by the Erojiji?
