Special A - 09
LOL I totally forgot this scene was in this story arc! 
So if it wasn’t for this scene I was about to call it quits with blogging this show. I can’t really say why anymore but perhaps some mangas were just not meant to be animated. The “dramatic” parts of the show feel stupid and overdone. I only laughed at the end where Yahiro told Hikari that boys love kissing. Anime aside, why the hell is Hikari so STUPID but like in 2nd place? It shows you can be good in the books but have 0 common sense. “I heard boys will be happy if you kiss them.” WTF are you 6? Really it’s something that wasn’t really explained in the manga either. Being dense about someone liking you is 1 thing, but something like that? 
At least the Tadashi and Akira wagon is slowly starting to move its wheels.

I’ll keep watching to see if the other pairings get better treatment in the anime. But it definitely pales in comparison to the manga.
You know what I want to see? I want to see Studio BONES do Kaichou-wa Maid-sama. Heck, they did a fantastic job with Ouran, they could so KaiMaid justice.

But still, even with the kissing, it was Hikari’s densely-minded kiss… *sigh* I always wondered that, too, how someone could be so intelligent and: 1. make the bowling ball onigiri, 2. know nothing about common sense. She has such a one track mind and thinks only of her rivalry with Kei. ~__~
Anyways, I eagerly await the sick bed scene.
Hopefully that will be better.

Haven’t seen the episode yet, but I finally got around to reading volume 5 of the manga last night and I’ve come to the official conclusion (based on that and the anime) that I don’t care about Hikari and Kei anymore. Hikari is just so dense no matter how many cute scenes they have together, she NEVER gets it. As far as romance goes Tadashi and Akira is the only pairing I care about now. They are just so cute!
Drill it to her head maybe she’ll get the fact that he likes her. Gawd I bet an average normal person could figure out someone likes them just by the nice things they do for them or smiles only for them. You’d have to throw a brick at her head saying I LOVE YOU HIKARI - Kei on it and even then she may still not get it.
Well… I’m just wondering the same thing… If she claims that she can do everything that Kei can do but always lang on the second place position, I’m just wondering why she can’t cook (because in the manga, Kei apparently does) and lack that much common sense. I guess you’re right to say that there are people who are just book/street smart but have definitely low EQ.
I think in the manga, when the first time he told her he loved her, she thought he meant as a friend.
Despite the flak it has received from various bloggers I really like Special A and look forward to the subbed version coming out each week.
I’ve got used to the OP and find Hikari an interesting character.
She may be very dense in the romance department but she is kind, loyal and works really hard.
Considering Kei’s advantage in having a photographic memory the fact that she is able to come so close to him in tests is worthy of respect and one of the reasons he loves her (yes I know she’s only a character in a Manga and Anime…).
The animation with the ultra long legs is quirky but cute.
Do I prefer Macross Frontier, Toshokan Sensou and Itazura na Kiss to Special A? If I had to make a choice I probably would but since I don’t I’ll keep waiting patiently for the subs and (hopefully) read your blog while I’m waiting.
*LOL* What’s up with the clawed hand of doom? I’ll probably continue to watch this one last on the weekly list of things to do…Kei getting lucky or not.
I still like Special A a lot, but… Between Kei expecting Hikari to confess to him without taking the initiative himself, and Hikari being as dense as a black hole, It can get pretty exasperating. I’d really like to see some genuine movement in their relationship sometime before the last 2 episodes.
Right now, I can’t really understand why Kei is content to sulk about Hikari’s denseness when he won’t even confess, or why Hikari is number 2 at an elite academy when she has all the sense of a sedated parakeet.

I was pretty disappointed in this episode for the part that hikari was trapped in a cell because it the manga, she easily broke it down but here, she has to be a weak girl.. T__T And to have cute chitose to save her.. x3
The only thing I liked in this episode is probably the part for Tadashi and Akira..
