Soul Eater - 08
I jumped the gun last week thinking the Maka x Soul raburabu hospital scene was in this week’s episode. I think it’ll actually be in episode 10, mayybbeee a little bit in episode 9 although I doubt it as that one is focused on the gag with the Excalibur. So the focus this week on the exciting combo of Stein and Death Scythe (Maka’s papa) since they were partners before Maka’s mom made him into a death scythe. Maka is shocked that her mom killed one of these types of witches in order to complete the Death Scythe mission.
I didn’t remember this fight in detail (cause you know what my selective memory focuses on 
) but it was pretty damn awesome. Also Chrona being “bullied” was pretty funny lol. I’m looking forward to the scene where her dress gets pulled. (Yes I will now refer to Chrona as a she after that scene lol.)
There was actually some fanservice in this episode! I was shocked, I was sure they’d cut it out or do something to replace it. Anyway Maka-tan waiting in front of the nurse’s office for Soul

Well in case you haven’t already figured it out (or read the manga) Medusa-sensei = witch that Stein fought. (I mean their hair style and voice is identical, plus the little hint at the end was a dead give away anyway.)

Soul actually looks pretty normal human in the 4th screenie without showing his teeth or the drool. I like it.
And Excalibur was probably the funniest manga moment next to the written exam for me.

Yup! I burst out laughing during my swim meet and my teammates just thought I was weirder than I already was.
Too bad the manga right now is all serious business with only some funny parts. 
I loved that chapter, too. I especially enjoyed how Kid is supposed to be some fricking genius, yet he failed because he could not write his name perfectly.
I also liked how Patty built a giraffe.

Is Excalibur simply a joke? I first noticed him in the opening credits, and after his little brief stint in the manga, I have a hard time wrapping my mind around that being his only place in the mangaverse.

why so much focus on soul eater anime? You must have noticed the obvious lack of lovable voice actors, retardation of the original storyline and cliched anime gags everyone has heard over9999 times.
Unless you really like the fight scenes(for good cause). But somehow I don’t think that’s what your ’selective memory’ is looking for.
Liek gawd, make a list of what is good about soul eater, because I do not see it.
Dude, why all the hate?
Nobody is calling Soul Eater original. It’s all about execution.
And with maybe a couple exceptions I think the voice actors are great. Are the only “lovable” voice actors the ones you can easily identify? or are the voices just not “cute” enough for you or something? I think the voices are well-acted for the most part and they fit their characters extremely well.
Especially Shinigami-sama! How can you not love that voice!?
I personally like the voice actors, it’s a matter of taste I guess. Also I read the manga and I don’t want to spoil you.
BUT.
Soul Eater may not be the most original story out there, but it somehow manages to gracefully sidestep many cliques out there. The story only gets better so if you’re patient I think Soul Eater will really start to grow on you.
I have a feeling ‘why?’ is ‘heh’ who was a big fan of code geass (the originality!)
Anyway, yes soul eater covers old ground but it does it with a very cool (in my view) style and as opposed to say naruto (that it gets compared to one too many times for comfort), I feel that Maka and Soul’s characters and relationships are going to develop due to the events in this arc.
Also I like the big pictures, could never make out the leek-head thing before.
Code Geass? Pfft. Its’ Death Note with Mecha. And minus the Shinigami.

I actually love the voice talent for Soul Eater. So far there have been no missteps IMHO. Everyone has their own preferences of course. Personally I’m offended by all this Code Geass bashing.
I didn’t notice the storyline changing all that much. Having watched so many anime that ended before the manga, changes are something I’m used. And it’s not simply the story, it’s the character design that really sells it. A good story, cliched or not, can be made anew with vibrant characters. And I’ve yet to find 1 in this show that I dislike. Even Medusa, who as of chapter 47 is super interesting, manages to make me sick and entertain all at once. What better traits for a villain.

Well at least I dislike him because he is just too annoying. If I were Tsubaki I would’ve broken his jaw a long time ago just so he would stop talking.
LOL XD during the tsubaki arc I thought Black Star had redeemed himself, but then when he went all bat shit on Kid in the later chapters that pretty much ruined it all for me.
What are manga characters but a rollercoaster of love and hate?

also Medusa-sensei being just under their noses meets Palpatine leading the Republic into clone wars under the very nose of Jedi council in improbability rankings…
anyway didn’t one of the laws of anime say simple costume change make one completely unrecognisable?
