Newtype June 2008
I decided to check if the June issue arrived at Kinokuniya today and not only that but Animedia had Soul and Maka on the cover as well!! A separate post coming for that one later. I was expecting more Soul Eater features but it was basically just the first few pages and nothing much. I swear Code Gayass and Gundam 00 like own Newtype or something.

There was actually 1 more 2 page spread before this but I didn’t bother taking a picture as all it was is screenshots from the first 5 episodes. On this page I just took the part with Medusa & Chrona. There were interviews with the staff on the other page. I read bits & pieces and they admitted that the whole thing behind the “late show” is to add some kuchipaku - which is what basically the late show IS. They take recycled animation, and then add made up dialogue to it as a joke. They even listed the differences between late show & normal show for the first 5 eps - and as I had guessed, the eps I didn’t watch all they did was add the kuchipaku and the different episode previews. This is why I stopped bothering with the late show.

Looks like an ad for some Haruhi Wii dance game? Does it teach you the Hare Hare Yuukai? I didn’t bother reading deep into it but looks kinda cool.

A page on 2 seiyuus. One of them voices Ikuto from Shugo Chara and Tomoya from Clannad.
A Code Geass x Pizza Hut pizza box. You can’t fit any American pizza in that tiny thing though, only like 1 bite sized pie or a Japanese sized pizza. Also you have to cut it out and put it together. The other side of the box features that pic of Lulu holding CC like in the folder from last month.
This came with ginormous stickers. 2 of them are the code geass ones that you saw in may’s issue. The other 2 are these Evangelion ones. The heck with Rei I rather like the group picture. I’m tempted to peel it and slap it on my laptop but I fear the consequences if it overheats and melts or something.
A Kobato clear bookmark. As lovely as it is I didn’t want to rip it out of the “mold” so I just left it and stuffed it back into the magazine.
Also there were episode previews in this issue (as well as every issue) that I thought were worth noting:
Soul Eater:
Episode 8: Stein beats the crap out of Chrona and we have the Soul x Maka hospital raburabu scene.
Episode 9: Black Star & Kid go on an adventure to seek out the magical sword Excalibur who’s that annoying dancing little turd. This chapter was lulz so I expect awesomeness from this episode.
Episode 10: We start the Tsubaki & Black Star arc where she really gets to shine. 
Itazura na Kiss:
Episode 10: The rainy day episode that perhaps everyone was saying is gonna kick ass right?
Shugo Chara:
I think eps 34 and 35 are going to be fillers. Not sure about 34 but I don’t recall Amu catching a cold..? Also 35 Amu’s cousin gets married. I didn’t know she had a cousin. But now she does.

nice stickers, is it A4 sized stickers? should be no problem to put the sticker on your laptop, as long as you don’t cover any air vent holes

I am currently on volume 5 of Soul Eater. Wow. I am really looking forward to episode nine. That chapter had be laughing out loud. Ha, ha.

The issue looks pretty good. I just ordered my copy of this and the new Animage so thanks for the pictures. But seriously, ItaKiss episode 10 will have the rain scene?

Not so much looking forward to the Tsubaki arc though. That was probably my least favorite part in the manga. At least it’ll be well-animated though….
The filler where Amu gets a cold better have Ikuto trying to warm her up, dammit!

And if that Itazura ep is what I think it is, then yea, it’ll totally rock! XD I got that far in the chinese manga and it’s full of shoujo goodness.

I always wondered what the voice of Tomoya looked like.
Maybe the pizza hut pic is just a picture that come on the “life size” pizza box. I know nothing of Japan, but I would hate to think of anyone eating a pizza that small, from take out/delivery.
Personally I prefer Papa Johns.

What a sec. THE rain scene? In episode 10? Are they skipping like ALL of college and going straight to the rain scene? Rain scene doesn’t happen until their last year of college!
Either they are skipping like all of college or they are rearranging things to a fierce degree. Not that there isn’t a lot of good stuff post-college (the Keita interference is good relationship stuff . . . .) but holy crap I thought college took like over 5 volumes of manga to cover!
I wish I could just run and grab the latest anime mags during my lunch break….
I never really noticed it before since they’re usually not all in the same shot at once, but all of the guys in Junjou Romantica have the SAME hairstyle.
I’ve read Hell’s Angels before, but had no idea it was going to be an anime. The manga has some really strange/interesting art (almost western style) but the plot dissolved into pretensious nonsense a dozen chapters in so I dropped it.
I’m not sure about if its THAT rain scene but the episode is called like “Rainy Day Show down” or something (I forget the exact title) …so I figured if they name an episode after that it’s gotta be the one right?
