A Tribute to Vocaloid Kaito

Many people who keep up with the Vocaloid trend most likely already heard of him. However those who only know Hatsune Miku and Kagamine Rin/Len and nothing else - may not have heard of a popular male voiced vocaloid named Kaito. PiaPro and NicoNico users together have given him the personality of having some ice cream fetish and he is often found paired up with either Meiko or (more commonly) Miku. He’s also referred to as “nii-san” because him and Meiko came out before Miku, Rin or Len so he is like the “older brother” figure. Some choose to argue that pairing him up with Miku is “siscon” but others (like me) don’t think of any of the vocaloids as “blood related incest siblings” anyway. There’s even been pairing of Rin & Len who according to Crypton aren’t related anyway - just happen to look identical. After the jump is a selection of my favorite Kaito songs.

1. Cantarella - A video featuring Kaito & Miku. While there were a lot of image videos created for this song, I think the one below is the most fitting. XD This is my favorite Kaito song.

2. VIP★STAR - Kaito sings a cover of Hirai Ken’s “Pop Star” and it sounds ridiculously similar. :shock:

3. Saikyo OX Keikaku - I know I posted this somewhere before in my Sumomomomomo posts. Kaito sings the Sumo^6 ending song.

4. Bokusatsu Tenshi Kaito-kun - Kaito sings the Dokuro-chan op.

5. Moonlight Densetsu - Kaito sings the Sailormoon OP.

6. Saa! - Kaito sings the Mamotte Shugogetten OP. The animation is pretty awesome too :D

    I’ve never really like Kaito much at all, actually. His voice sounds too robotic 90s voice recognition software to me.

    For example, Miku’s GaoGaiGar opening rendition sounds better than Kaito’s, which shouldn’t be the case.

    Link> I agree with you on the robotic part but I think he has some pretty good songs (especially the first 2 I posted). A lot of them are really bad though lol especially if the user is a newbie to the program. Miku isn’t much different though…a lot of her songs are pretty awful too haha. I think Rin & Len are the most advanced.

    Shin> LOL 3rd world, I assume Gackt will be more “vocal” although I personally wish they’d make one for Inaba Koshi, the lead singer of B’z.

    Not exactly fetish, though Ice Cream seems to be the object he’s associated with, as much as leeks are for Miku, a steamroller is for Len/Rin, and beer is for Meiko. As for sis-con, uh, wrong blog, yo. :)

    I’ve found a few more good songs made using Kaito, but unfortunately I can’t access my Youtube account here at work.

    I always thought aside from the steamroller, Rin = Orange, Len = Banana?
