Itazura na Kiss - 07
…what Kotoko got, for her graduation.
It seems like in this episode any kind of sympathy I felt for Naoki pretty much died and went to hell because he went back to being a dickhead (probably spurring comments of “誠死ね” on niconico) but at least Naoki’s mom was on Kotoko’s side. Sometimes I wonder if it wasn’t for his mom whether their relationship would even progress.
I know there’s been series where a tough guy eventually warms up to a stupid girl but in this case it’s taking its sweet time I suppose but you can definitely tell Naoki is on the path to it. I no longer really feel sorry for Kin-chan in fact I find him just as annoying as Kotoko (if not more.) His elvis impersonator act didn’t win me over and thank god he got called for work so it would end.
During the graduation celebration Naoki basically went along with the students and made fun of Kotoko saying her feelings for him for 3 years were useless. Instead of running away crying (which I expected) Kotoko immediately pulls out the loli trap pics of Naoki and shows them to everyone. Of course rather than laughing all the fangirls run and try to grab it for themselves. 
Luckily Naoki manages to get it back and drags Kotoko away into a dark alley. (LOL)
Kotoko still has her guard on pretty well and she tells him (and finally cries) that she will forget about him, and start all over at college. She will pretend she never liked him and forget all the things that went on between them. Now I know this is probably weird because the only thing that happened between them was a span of 6 episodes but perhaps had we read the manga this would have been more significant. Anyway Naoki isn’t about to have any of this because now that she pulled him in to (the path I mentioned earlier) she better not be kicking him out.
Now that’s what I call an itazura na kiss.

My only trepidation with them going on to college is that Reiko (I think?) the long-and-black haired girl from the OP is going to show up, and she’s quite the bitch. Not as big a bitch as her sister, but a bitch nonetheless.
Then again, it’s the college years that things really get good, and if they’re going along at a quick pace like this then chances are good for seeing the “showdown in the rain” scene.
Oh noes that’s who that long black haired ho was in the preview! Wow sounds exciting, rain showdowns!
Can’t wait!
That mom should work as a pimp, or at least as a matchmaker… Anyway, I think that things would still progress without her but it would take a long time for them to get to this long awaited kiss.
I can’t believe you used to feel sorry for Kin-chan, I found him annoying from the very beginning and this episode just made me dislike him even more.

Machiko must be proud everything is proceeding as she has foreseen. Naoki will turn to the Kotoko side as his parents before him. He and his kisses will be all Kotoko’s. Kotoko is my kind of idiot, for all his vaunted intelligence Naoki cannot escape her grasp. So who is the more stupid? The stupid girl or the one who falls for the stupid girl.
Kin-chan will be peeled off one way or another…

ohhh..finally..may i ask what chapter in the manga covers this episode? I’m interested in reading the manga ^^ i’m particularly intrigued with the “things get better in college” comments by people who’ve read ahead.
You can’t even really tell he likes her until the moment she finally and definitively wins, and even after that for a long time it seems like he’s STILL a jerk!
humm.. i wonder if naoki kissed kotoko because he likes her or for some other reason…
i got no idea why he did that… the first 6 episode naoki dint even show feelings for kotoko and than suddenedly he kiss her??

That kiss was kind of long overdue I think, since I was under the impression male leads in shoujo would sweep the girls off their feet, as opposed to the male leads in shounen that would either crave for dongs or be too much of a wuss around females.
male pride… i think that kiss was purely motivated by male pride. =_=
anyway, the thing i love about this anime is just as when you are at the verge of sympathizing or hating a character, it pulled you right back. well, i was hating kotoko last episode because she was downright pathetic and the previous one it was naoki because of the insensitive “regular bowl” comment, etc. and i thought i will dislike her even more in the following episodes. i will still have to wait for the subs… but it looks like naoki is the ass on this one. so next week… kotoko going to be hated??? maybe
In the jdrama, I always thought that Kotoko was realllly annoying.
… but here, not so much.
Just wanted to point out that if you can’t get enough of watching Hirakawa Daisuke suffer at the hands of a girl he mistreats, there’s also the fourth installment of Mnemosyne.
I’m thinking that if Kin-chan really wants to impress Kotoko (and her father) he should go into construction and _finish_building_that_damned_house_!

I still can’t take Naoki seriously though. I every time I see him I think NICE BOAT! In a sorta good way because hes not as much of an ass as Makoto.

@Hinano: Er, actually the “rain showdown” is between Naoki and Kotoko, but there are other times when the bitch has to suffer. They even join forces a couple times, usually against her even bitchier sister.
As ugly and annoying as Kin is, I admit I have a soft spot for him, mostly because his seiyuu also voiced Kawachi in Yakitate! Japan. And I love Yakitate! Japan.
