The first season was so disappointing >_> The second is okay so far but I'm losing interest fast...I hope Yoshiyuki doesn't pick Yume or Otome but Anzu  or end up alone

Oops, nevermind, the staircase encounter was right before the rooftop, so that example was bad. But yeah, the junior high thing should be definite, though the school itself is a high school (or an academy).

Yoshiyuki is a 3rd year student, and Otome is 1st year in the high school section (which is why she and Mayuki are clearly upperclassmates, and use a different style uniform.) This would be why it's a high school, yet it holds junior high students.

Yoshiyuki in DC II first season is in class 3-3 (he still is), and in anime normally senpais are 3rd years while the protagonist is a second year. That already proves Yoshiyuki is not a 2nd year in high school.

Koukousei is likely correct, because it's a big school, so big it has a junior high and a high school section (it's also weird because you don't see upperclassmates to Otome, or lowerclassmates to Yume, so you only see a 3 year range.)

This is more of a school property, having both junior high and high school. I don't think they said they're specifically in junior high (if they did you wouldn't be surprised). Again, aside from Mayuki and Otome, the rest of the characters are technically in junior high.

If my DC memory is correct, there's a junior high and a high school division. So say in the original Da Capo, Junichi was a 3rd year student in junior high, but Moe was a 1st year high school student. This was also why when the Mizukoshi sisters were eating lunch at the roof, the older sister had to "come all the way just to meet up with Mako" aka, the school is the same but there's different sections. If Yoshiyuki were to graduate, he just moves into the high school division, which would be where Otome currently is.

Now it's also weird because there's a 3rd year floor and a 2nd year floor. Yoshiyuki and yellow ribboned students are on the 3rd floor. Yume and green ribboned students are on the second floor. I believe a 1st year junior high student was denoted by ... a red ribbon, but there's no prominent first years, so I can't prove this anime-wise (likewise there's like no information on 2nd or 3rd year high school students, if they even exist).

Yes, it's kind of weird that a high school division would have a student council president. But the different uniform pattern is one evidence. I believe the original Da Capo time setting was Junichi prior to graduating junior high, therefore being 3rd year. (Da Capo II is analogously similar, so Yoshiyuki's grade position is identical with Junichi's)

And yes, the junior high fact was a bit iffy to swallow while I was playing Da Capo, realizing "wait, this is junior high" ... meaning they're like 13.

This reminds me of when someone made a commentary about how Lucky Star characters looked much smaller/younger than say Haruhi characters, except the premise for LS was 2nd year high school which SHNY was actually 1st year high school denoting that a direct comparison of age actually makes Haruhi younger than Konata.

I tend to like small properties like grade level or height or something, though I overextended the explanation. XP Anyways, due to the plot premise and what they emphasize, it's actually very easy to overlook that Da Capo's grade levels are actually junior high (except for characters like Moe or Otome).

If I recall correctly, Da Capo's school seems to be comprised of 8th, 9th, and 10th graders since the usual story premise is the last year of junior high. Since Yume has a green ribbon, she's a 2nd year of junior high ... so isn't looking 12 actually normal (unless 12 and 13 is that much different)? Unlike other visual novels, where the premise is usually high school with ages 15 - 18 or so, but Da Capo is actually junior high, meaning the age range is more like ... 12 - 15. o_o

For those who watched the original Da Capo, there's already an explanation in the second half of that series as to why Sakura didn't age or grow an inch...

The sakura tree was planted for her by her grandma, and her wish was for her to stay the same because she thinks Jun1 liked the "current her" during that time (i.e. she didn't want anything to change between Jun1 and her)... there was this whole revelation about it... also explains why she stayed young even when the sakura tree first "died" in the first series, taking everyone's wishes with it except Sakura's.

Maybe there are 'some' magic they believe in more than others, but heck I ain't gonna defend this broken plot. The prospect of Sakura's eternal youth is way more mysterious than even the unwithering sakura blossoms, or even the tree's wish fulfillment.

I miss the nabe sisters! It would be pretty funny if Mako, Moe, Yoriko, Kotori and Nemu appear in this anime as grandmothers.

padfoot> I think Sakura used some weird magic to keep herself young. What I find funny is how no one else finds this "weird" yet they have trouble believing in "magic". This entire anime has so many loose ends it makes no sense anyway.

Taiyaki> I do too :(
