Well since some people like to see progress here is some progress for you!
I jumped head first into programming last night and getting familiar with Ren’Py and the codes. Sure it involved me screaming out loud “what the fuck is wrong with this stupid thing” (And JP can attest to that) but eventually I got something going. I wrote out a couple lines just for testing purposes but I’ll probably do dialogue in greater detail once I get the paths & routes all smoothed out. At least the “basic” skeleton is done so it’s art, programming and writing from here on out!
P.S. Anyone recommend a good FREE sound FX site? All the ones I found require you to either register or buy their CD :S And Flashkit doesn’t have as many options as I would have liked.

…why in the
hell are they $40 for a Saturday only attendance? That’s $10 more than New York Comic Con! I can’t see how this is justifiable when the NYCC probably has a lot more dealers/events/people that require more costs…than NYAF which has a lot less and a lot less content to begin with. Not that NYCC was exciting for me due to lack of Anime related content, but NYAF is pretty bare boney in itself. Last year I left the con feeling kinda let down because things closed early but I know that’s just because that’s how the Javitz center works. So with all of this in mind why the price jack? I had seriously thought about going to this con but I can’t see a justification of paying $40 to go for 1 day unless they get something as equally or more awesome as T.M.Revolution (B’z anyone?) The way they’ve made it is that attending for 3 days you get a MUCH better deal - but since this is only the con’s 2nd year, I don’t really find myself wanting to attend all 3 days. (Especially when last year a lot of panels/events repeated from Friday to Saturday anyway.) I really hope NYAF staff considers lowering the price or they may find a big attendance drop this year. My Anime Next 3 day pass was $40 - and I have to pay the same for a 1 day con that ends at 8?
Edit: Just got a response from the staff blogger:
This year’s NYAF will be running much longer than last year’s. While most events wrapped up at 7 in ‘07, we’ll be keeping panels, screenings, and special events on until 10 this year. If you need to wait and see, though, that’s cool. We’ll be announcing guests and programming beginning in June.
Alrighty then I guess I can see where that extra $10 comes from. I’ll wait and see what they bring out in their programming before making my purchase though.

Eh well
same setup this week. The only thing that amused me was how Sakura managed to randomly insert herself into a gossip between girls and they didn’t notice until the end and were like “wait…who are you?” and she’d do her “I’m the new 17 year old transfer student hehe!”
Also this week the murder happened by accident…basically the teacher was jealous of her “lover” teacher because of a rumor she heard about him getting it on with a student lol. I also liked the “Sandy” whose “Father is American” and her part time job was being a gravure model lol. No other development otherwise, I have a feeling we may not see any until maybe eps 7 or 8.
Upcoming Attractions: Udagawa & Sakura go to solve crime at the beach.

So like I said, I did go to Mitsuwa and while we picked up our regular groceries too you couldn’t help but notice the giant Pocky booth right at the entrance to the supermarket. Just in case you pretended not to, there were Japanese girls running around with pocky and/or Pretz (which I don’t like that much) in wine glasses and handing them out to you. Continue Reading »

A really
nice emotional episode this week focusing on Megumi and her family. Basically since she’s been staying with the school dorms she doesn’t see her parents that often. She’s also been adopted so she is not blood related to her mother. (Someone correct me if I’m wrong.) She once had a brother named Tomoya who died in a car accident that her family got in. Everyone but him survived because Megumi who as a loli could use her persona, used it to protect them but did not manage to protect him. Continue Reading »

I love
how in these kinds of shows that if someone gets sick, there is no way out and everything has to be cancelled or shut down. I mean who cares if someone in a puppet show gets sick. Sure there’s no one else who remembers the lines, but who the hell’s gonna see you reading them from a script behind a giant black curtain? I mean hell when I was forced to be some background character in a Hamlet play I wrote my lines on top of a book I was carrying and kept looking down to make it seem like I’m a noble old fart and it worked fine! I know everyone’s been anticipating this:
“Siblings”
“You’re so cold to me, even though we went on a date together at the amusement park at night”

I’m so exhausted I don’t have the energy for any summaries but generally the episode stayed true to the story. Unfortunately I think next week is a filler so I may end up skipping it. I’m glad the anime team didn’t cut this part out and make up something about how Utau is his non blood related sister or she’s adopted or some other jazz.
