Vampire Knight: I reached chapter 35.
Ok so as I’m reading and seeing this page I’m disappointed but I haven’t given up my Zero x Yuuki thing. All that of course changed the moment shit hit the fan. (Major spoilers after jump if you have not read this far.)

I’m having complete deja vu here. I mean what’s the deal with shoujo mangas suddenly dropping the bomb and making brothers & sisters make out? 
Although I suppose one guy will be happy if he’s watching this show.
So now that I read ch. 36 they cleverly inserted that Yuuki was “adopted” and that her mom put a special spell on her to “forget that she’s a vampire”. No seriously wtf. If this was possible, why couldn’t they just do this to Zero? That woulda saved a lot of angst.

I think Yuuki is leaning towards zero. Ever since Yuuki was revealed to be a pure blood. She’s been emoing about Zero a lot that she hasn’t even spoken to Kaname o_O
They are vampires and in addition to being a bunch of poncy blood sucking parasites who oppress the proletariat they are also deviant sexual creatures. What were expecting some sort of decency? Come on comrade this is Japan…
Aw, because Zero’s not a pureblood, silly! Plus his parents were dead before he became a true ancestor lols.
And now you see why I am highly unimpressed by Vampire Knight. I had high hopes going into this series, and then I’m presented with this crap.
And this is why I say VK is too pretentious for it’s own good. It’s not just emo, it’s pretentious emo.

I admit that I keep reading, as you said in a “can’t look away” way. It’s like watching a natural disaster, you are morbidly curious and hopeful somewhere in your gut that everything turns out okay. It’s the reason I keep reading Naruto, even though it’s fallen down the black hole of fail. I have to see how things turn out.
I guess what I’m more pissed about than anything is poor Zero getting the shaft. He’s 10x a better character than Kaname. And I really could care less about the rest of the Night Class.
Yea I really haven’t taken interest in any of the other characters…I have trouble remember anyone else’s names at this point
If this was possible, why couldn’t they just do this to Zero? That woulda saved a lot of angst.

I had the same reaction as you.
But I’m also kinda dissapointed that after 38 chapters so little has actually happened in the manga. I mean, I still have huge question marks floating in my brain while I read this. I’ll probably take another 40 chapters to actually go into Zero’s background? I’m also a big Zero/Yuki fan! 
Did you see his heartbroken face when he looked at Yuki in that moment?!

I read all of the current scanlated chapters now (39) so I’m pretty much “caught up” in that sense. while I no longer see Kaname as a lolipedobear as much as before, I still think he’s a weird stalker but I guess he kinda has his reasons, but he’s sooo angsty I prefer Zero. Btw seriously Ichiru ugh he needs to die in a fire 
It infuriates me how the mangaka will maybe jump into the zeroxyuuki bandwagon in 0.001 seconds when she’s been having Yuuki KANAME I LOOOVEE YOUUU this whole time.
And I don’t understand what the hell is going on since chapter 37.
oh my, they really messed up big time. and during the whole shop district thing, if yuuki was a pure blood, then why isn’t that level E afraid of her.
I remember reading this: I was like OMFG!!!!!!!! INCEST!!! Not again….
And then after that Yuki pretty much pretends that Zero doesn’t exist anymore. And he’s still locked up for some reason (don’t really remember why) so far.
LOL I love how everyone’s basic opinion of VK is:
Zero was locked up because of that whole issue about twin vampire hunters and crap so Ichiru’s like “this town aint big enough for the 2 of us” *shoots* lol

I am confused. Yuki was not adopted by her “real” parents (she’s a real vampire). She was adopted by the Headmaster if that is what you mean. But, yeah, incest. I thought it was funny, too, how the author tried to justify it by going, “It is normal for pureblood vampire siblings to marry.” Ha, ha.
Kaname confuses me, though. Apparently, the real Kaname’s soul got killed by the bad Kuran guy. Then, somehow, another soul was placed in his body. I need to re-read that part. Ha, ha.
Oh, and I started watching Soul Eater and loveeee itttt. I did not watch it before because the animation weirded me out. I LOVE IT NOW. Ahh.

I wonder if anyone knows about this but:
In this series, Pureblooded Vampires sometimes purposely have incestious marriages (i.e. full biological brothers and sisters) to maintain the “pureness” of their bloodline. So if Yuuki (who is a Pureblood) is to follow her family’s tradition (her real parents were themselves Brother and Sister), she has to marry Kaname (whom she was in fact betrothed to from the beginning). So anything happening between Yuuki and Zero would be a monkey wrench, since Zero is a Class-D (i.e. human-turned-vampire).
Bah when you read shoujo manga nobody cares about monkey wrenches xD;;;
Yeah, I was thinking the same as you Hinano when I reached that kissing scene in chapter 35. It was like…well, at last some good kissing!
But on the other hand, I still prefer Zero as a pairing for Yuuki. Anyway, I have the strange feeling that Kaname will die at the end of the story or something along those lines, beacuse things are getting really complicated, and I don’t know what the mangaka will do to wrap up the story nicely…

The thing with Vampire Knight is that all sorts of relationships; from incest, gay-like to possible lesbian-like relationships can be found in the manga.
I wonder what’s next?
Well, after reading the manga up to the latest chapter, this is my thought (feel free to correct my comprehension)
I put it under spoiler tags btw..
1. Yuuki and Kaname are siblings but when Kaname was young, Rido took him and awakened Kuran ancestor (whose name yet to mentioned) into Kaname’s body. So even though they’re siblings, but the Kaname inside Kaname’s body is not her brother anymore. Physically, yes Kaname is Yuuki’s brother but actually he is Kuran’s ancestor.
2. Because of that, (Rido being the person who awakened Kaname), Kaname cannot destroy Rido. He needed somebody to destroy Rido and Zero is the perfect person. Dunno how Zero will do this since in the last chapter, we saw that Ichirou shot Zero with the Bloody Rose.
3. Level E vampires aren’t afraid of Yuuki since she has not become a vampire yet (as in the whole shop district thing) - to answer Liinae.
4. I personally think Zero has romantic feelings towards Yuuki because Kaname said “Because my feelings for Yuuki are probably the same as yours” (I can’t remember in which chapter) Well I know for sure that Kaname loves Yuuki and wanted Yuuki to be his bride.. so that means Zero loves Yuuki too??!! Oh my.. I’d prefer YuukixZero than YuukixKaname
zero is the perfect person to kill rido becuase apparently *forum info* within him flows the blood of 3 pure blood vampires making him somewhat the strongest vampire hunter, and also the fact he still cares for yuuki etc and will do anyhting to protect her so its like kill rido of yuuki is killed. blah blah speculation is though that ichiru’s shooting of zero was not out of ill will but love (brotherly?
), but thats looking at it positively. The shooting wont affect zero (in a bad way at least i hope)
atfer about 5 chapters of vampire yuuki, im wondering, if she is awaken, where are her fangs?

kaname is technically like loads old. with all this going on i wonder if they gonna drop a bomb on zero and say he and ichiru are like the result of an affair with some random pure blood or better yet a kuran and are lovechilds or something

So he’s an incest-pedo-bear. I kid, I kid. Well, I still think Zero might get Yuuki, and hopefully he’s okay in chapter 40 after reading 39.
Hmm… I have a feeling that Zero wont get hurt by the bullet. After all, Kaname just told him that he is a very powerful vamprie hunter. So, there is a possibility that the mangaka will use this opportunity to show of his newfound powers. Just a thought. Haha. ^^
Or maybe, Ichiru never kill Zero. Maybe just shoot the wall or never shoot. Then say something like. “I cant kill you in the end becaue you are my brother.” Then let him go. Maybe. Maybe
I oso have a big, huge, feeing that Kaname will die in the end. Die nobly of course, and protecting and scarificing himself for Yuuki no less. ^^ Just a guess ~
I must say, that the chapters from 35 onwards are rather confusing and very emo. I hope that something happier will happen soon~
i have a BIG question for the girl vampires. what if they had their period? o___O

I once saw someone describe Vampire Knight as “a teenage girl’s self-insert fanfic” and was amazed at how accurate that observation was.
Maybe the fact that his ancestor feeded himself of a vampire… and that whole thing about twin hunters murdering each other or steel each others powers in their mother’s belly is quite related to Kiriuu’s strenght. My I wrote a story about vampires few years ago and I got surprised how the curse of Vampire hunters in this Manga is close to mine. Lol
