Soul x Maka: A Fangirl Moment.
As I mentioned in one of my Soul Eater posts that I’d do some sort of crazy tribute to Soul and Maka. After reading all the manga my fangirlism meter went off the scale 
I also posted a poll recently and based on the winning choice I don’t think I’m alone in this! So I invite all SouMaka (ソウマカ) fans to share in my joy (and visual novel procrastination) as I flood you with 37 of my favorite Soul x Maka manga scenes.
Yes Maka, but you’re both cuter together. 
This scene got cut out of ep. 4 Monday version, we’ll see what happens tomorrow.
Fangirling aside, I find myself disappointed with the manga scanlations. I read scanlations of most of the books because they were available online so I could read them outside my house. But as I was going through and grabbing scenes from the Japanese scans…I realized some of my favorite or memorable scenes were incorrectly translated. That makes me sad 
One scene that I know right off the bat is the first time Soul & Maka “dance” with their souls in that Piano room. In the English scanlation Soul said “I like you Maka so do whatever you want.” The CORRECT translation should have been “Do whatever you like Maka”. I mean really wtf?? I think the most important part in any fansub or scanlation is the translation. I don’t care how well you can clean up or how well you can translate sound fx…if your dialogue translations are wrong, what kind of idea are you giving the readers about the story?? Anyway I’m disappointed but glad to say I’m no longer reading the scanlation - in fact after volume 7 I was reading Japanese dialogue only.

Aw, these are sweet.
Although, Kid is my favorite, I definitely support SouMaka. It’s such a cute pair. =3

Good stuff. I really liked when he raised her skirt in the hook graveyard to get their teacher/zombie to talk. I haven’t LOL’d so hard at a manga since Rock Lee offered Neji a piggyback ride. God that was ages ago.

Seeing SouMaka makes me feel all tingly and warm inside. It’s the feeling I got from KeiHikari in SA manga.
@Hinano-He amuses me too. I guess I like him because he reminds me of Tamaki (which we haven’t gotten enough of lately :sad:), but that’s probably because they both have the same seiyuu XD. I also like his symmetric OCD.
All the characters have funny quirks though. Soul with his coolness and weakness for big tits. And Black Star being a total idiot, thinking he’s so “big”. That’s what makes this series awesome. =D
Aww, this is so cool, although I like Kid more, they are definitely my favorite couple, who’s not yet a couple, this season, KanaxShin is the other one.

i’m 100% with you on this maka x soul thing. also, if there are more important mistakes between scanlations and the original Japanese, can you please post some up? i would really like to know what the English only readers are missing.

monica> I only noticed a few scenes I remembered. Another scene I recall is during the battle of Blair vs that mouse chick, scanlation said “Let me see what’s under here” while the actual Japanese said “Everything under your outfit is totally visible!” So basically that made Blair go from seeming like some lesbian, to basically calling the mouse girl a whore back. I didn’t particularly notice any other ones but again I didn’t really look in detail either. It’s a shame really
Wait… he goes to the hospital?? Wouldn’t it be easier for him to stay in blade form and go to a metal shop and get soldered together?

I like Soul & Maka too. Very cute. When he took that hit for her in the church; I finally understood what Mariah Carey was singing about in Hero. So cute.
I really like the artwork & character design. So much flawless effort. They are very complex but come across far more personable, if that makes any sense.
As far as favorite characters go, I’m loving Tsubaki (sp?). When I saw her in the anime, I realized how much better she would look with Maka and how much Soul & Black Star would make much better pairs on sight (not romantically!). To my surprise it was covered in the manga and explained perfectly. DTK and his twin guns are perfect! He manages to be funny and annoying all at once. Although the dumb sister seems a bit tacked on to the ensemble.

Great choice of scans BTW - although I like the character designs in the anime better. I certainly hope that some of the relationship scenes between Maka and Soul get into the anime.

i do have soul eater cosplay planned but JP will probably go as a very tall soul xD but then again later in the manga he’s about the same height as Maka anyway
