Soul Eater - 04

So between last week and now, I actually read all of the Soul Eater manga released in Japan to date..meaning I’m up to ch. 47 and past volume 11. This means I have a crapload of spoilers but I know a lot of people have not read this far so I’m having a hairy time figuring out a good way to blog this show. Should I just warn people that there MAY be spoilers in my post or something? I’ll try not to spoil anything major, but for starters, rewatching the OP made me go “OOOH! Now I know what THAT is!”

This week featured Maka, Soul, BlackStar & Tsubaki taking special lessons from Shinigami-sama. Those who read the manga - I wonder if you feel the same as me when I can’t really take the fight here seriously now that I sorta know who what where and why of the whole thing. It’s also hard to take a “bad guy” as bad when he really is a good guy ^^;;

Well before I do any spoilers let’s do some comparisons. While the anime drastically waters it down, there’s quite a large number of fanservice in soul eater. BONES manages to keep some of it but it seems they removed the vast majority of panty shots. (This is especially apparent in this arc because there was a lot of them in there for some reason.)

So what do you guys think? Is cutting the fanservice giving you a different feel for this show? Do you wish it was left in or is it better the way it is? Also, I love the part though where BlackStar’s like “let’s take a crap on his grave!” :lol: Anyway next week they’re gonna be fighting Stein, who is like the only hot older make character in this whole series XD Too bad he’s like covered in stitches like some kind of a rag doll. :mad: He’s also the the candidate for yaoi fangirls to pair him up with Maka’s dad lol.

    I know what you mean about this fight. It was pretty difficult to take it seriously because of the outcome. The same will go for the next episode against Stein. Also, I personally like the lower amounts of fanservice (although I did kinda miss Black Star’s “interrogation technique” and Soul’s failed attempt at the same). Boobs and panty flashes do nothing for me, and it’s easier to take Maka seriously when I’m not looking at her underwear.

    Oh god, if the yaoi fangirls do that their going to make Maka’s dad cry… XD
    I actually don’t mind the show not having as much fanservice as the manga, but then again I’m a girl who’s not interested on seeing other gilr’s boob. :twisted:

    I’m personally not complaining about the cutting out of fanservice, but I guess now that I read the manga it’s kinda like “lol they covered up this scene lol” :lol:

    Woah, I thought anime stuck in the crotch and boob shots, not take them out. :roll: Oh well, I don’t watch anime for the fanservice, so I’m alright with it. And please not too many spoilers!! :sad:

    I suppose they can’t put too much pantsu because its shown at 6 pm? Most japanese men grow up to be dirty-minded anyway. Actually all men grow up to be dirty minded. Look at the ones here who keep complaining about no Pantsu… lol… NO PANTSU =(!!!

    Hey. Taking out a scene where flashing panties is the primary form of interrogation is inexcusable. Especially when it’s Tsubaki and Maka.

    i actually prefer it without the fanservice. adding panty shots just for the sake of fanservice makes the show feel cheap to me :roll:

    Oh man I totally forgot the panty flash scene!! Although for some reason I thought that was later in the manga.. xD damn that was actually pretty funny :lol:

    Nope not really… I mean fanservice to me it seemed was a sort of comic relief in SE. I still love the story and the characters (especially Kid :P ).

    Yay for you blogging this. It’s definitely one of my favorite series along Himitsu the Revelation, this anime season.

    one of just 3 animes I am watching this season - low on free time due to job+games - otherwise just dropped in to say hi
    BTW, Maka is hot! makes me wish to make a BG2 mod with her and Soul as intelligent (sorta) weapon (take this , Lilarcor!)
