Gather my fellow weeaboos, for there is a sale on POCKY!

Published by Hinano at 11:58 am under Unsorted

So if you’re in the New York, NJ area, you might wanna stop by Mitsuwa between April 25th and Cinco de Mayo to load up on boxes of glorious pocky - now up to 30% off!

Last time they had a strawberry fair I bought Strawberry Pocky for really cheap, like 4x cheaper than what you’d get at an anime con dealer’s room. Perhaps I will stop by this Sunday, and stock up on some boxes myself.

Good lord! How much is Pocky in America that a sale on it is rejoiced??? :D We get ours for about 75 cents (USD).

I think normally a small box is about $1.25 XD; Remember the US Dollar right now sucks butt so everything’s gone up. The box I bought was one of the multiple pouch ones for about $4.

Also con pocky is $4 for the small box LOL

A lot of fangirls are going to go crazy with this.
I can believe someone actually pays $4 dolllars for a small box. Good thing I always buy mine at a discount price. XD
    … tch, now I’m hungry…

Still have no idea why it’s called Rocky over here.

I never really understood Pocky, I mean it tastes ok but they are rather plain. I prefer candy bars any day, I get a whole bag of delicious Kit-Kats for like 2.50 at CVS.

    @Calawain

Duh, it’s because JAPAN IS SUPERIOR

(I really only get the weird Pocky flavors so that there actually is some incentive to buying Pocky rather than just getting Kit Kats.)

Hmm… I wonder if any of the local Japanese stores are having a sale on Pocky on May 5…

  10. Sabrina-FairNo Gravatar UNITED STATESon 25 Apr 2008 at 2:37 pm

I ate a milk flavored one once. It tasted like a waxed cracker. I don’t understand this at all.

But if you see a pink seal charm/stun gun for cheap, let a girl know. :)

  11. JohnGNo Gravatar UNITED STATESon 25 Apr 2008 at 2:52 pm

They wouldn’t be weeaboos if they ate kitkats

  12. HinanoNo Gravatar UNITED STATESon 25 Apr 2008 at 2:52 pm

I’m sorry Sabrina, all I can offer you is pink poop phone straps.

Hinano> You have a Mitsuwa store in your area? :???: I’ve seeing those TV ads when Japanese programming is on (channel 18 on weekend evenings). I think there’s a store with that same name (like the one in your area) in the Torrance/Gardena area in south central L.A. where I live close by! I drove by there one day and it’s big.

Good heavens 1.25 USD for a small box? It was about 0.75 USD each in SF Chinatown and about 0.73 USD at Travis AFB when they carried it 6 months ago.

I never understood why it was so expensive, maybe they need to rethink their packing scheme.

  15. JohnGNo Gravatar UNITED STATESon 25 Apr 2008 at 4:42 pm

It’s expensive because people will buy it

  16. AdunNo Gravatar AUSTRALIAon 25 Apr 2008 at 5:57 pm

    Pocky is overrated

Ren> Yea mitsuwas are all over the US and we got one here in NJ

  18. CaitlinNo Gravatar JAPANon 25 Apr 2008 at 8:08 pm

Do they do internet orders? There’s no place in my area at home that sells Japanese snacks, muchless Japanese food. I’ve never heard of this store before but I’d be interested in getting stuff from them in the future. :(

  19. HinanoNo Gravatar UNITED STATESon 25 Apr 2008 at 8:35 pm

I don’t think so but for weeaboo mail order goods I recommend https://www.asianfoodgrocer.com/

  20. OsNo Gravatar UNITED STATESon 25 Apr 2008 at 8:45 pm

HA. A “sale”, you say. I get my pocky for $.89 a box at my local asian mart. I feel bad for all those who get tricked into buying those $4 boxes at cons, but then I realize that they’re weeaboos so I stop feeling bad.

  21. Ryan ANo Gravatar UNITED STATESon 25 Apr 2008 at 9:45 pm

Reminds me to get to the Asian market soon ^^ Pretty cheap around here, but must go to the importers, places like World Market price ridiculously.

What a way to celebrate on May 5th: you got some Pocky on one hand for Children’s Day and on the other hand, you got an ice-cold bottle of Corona with a lime wedge for Cinco de Mayo! Eating something sweet and getting drunk at the same time, huh?

(And FYI, Cinco de Mayo is NOT Mexican Independence Day, people! That day it’s on September 16th! Cinco de Mayo commerates the battle of Puebla in 1862 when the Mexican army kicked French army ass. Just to let ALL of you know, OK!?)

  23. usagijenNo Gravatar PHILIPPINESon 26 Apr 2008 at 2:18 am

I’m so envious… it’s so damn expensive here  I want my pockyyy

  24. ShannonNo Gravatar GUAMon 26 Apr 2008 at 3:50 am

Is Pocky that special? You can go to a mini mart where I live and there’s tons. For 50 cents sometimes.

    *is amazed*

  25. Di Gi KazuneNo Gravatar MALAYSIAon 26 Apr 2008 at 4:50 am

    Now getting to work.

Pocky is overrated. Really overrated for lousy partially chocolate covered biscuits. Especially when you pay 500% on the manufacturing price for it. Now TimTams. Those are something. Only shotas/lolis eat pocky here.

  26. HinanoNo Gravatar UNITED STATESon 26 Apr 2008 at 10:06 am

ok for the record, I quite enjoy pocky as a snack when I want something sweet to eat.I prefer it over like cookies because it’s small and not as dry. With cookies I have to like drink it down with something.

On the other hand, I don’t eat pocky like weeaboos do at anime cons where they chomp down 10 boxes in an hour.
