Naruto Chapter 397
So since I said I’d post when something “interesting” came up I figured I’d cover this week’s chapter. I thought that after the Uchiha fight ended they’d be focusing on Naruto’s team (and how much they all suck but that’s beside the point). But no it looks like the camera’s back on Sasuke (what a shocker 
) and Tobi also known as:
As if we hadn’t figured this out like 3 months ago. 
I love how whenever someone dies, Kishimoto suddenly gives them this horrible past and makes them seem like a tragic hero who died. So now basically with this chapter, Kishimoto turned Itachi (who’s dead) from being this psychotic power hungry freak to this poor man who wanted to save Konoha and his little brother. Wtf?
So remember that super Itachi poke of doom? Ok apparently that wasn’t just a joke 
So now Itachi has the magical power of transferring his eyesight powers to Sasuke. Wait…so what exactly was the point of them fighting again? I’m sure Kishimoto will pull the reason out of his ass next week. And he couldn’t leave the chapter without making Sasuke a whiny little emo bitch:
So much for me thinking Sasuke has matured/stopped being emo etc. No he’s still the same annoying turd who went after Orochi and his buttsecks bootcamp. Damn this manga just keeps getting worse. Damn I just realized I left my Naruto books at home and I meant to bring them back to BookOff today…oh well will have to do this next week.

Contrived plot development is contrived.
Yeah, this was a pretty crappy chapter, they’re probably going to come up with some random plot twist how Madara forced Itachi to kill his clan or else he’d wipe Konoha from the face of the earth, and that’s why he complied.
For we all know, the only way to save people from war, is to start a war yourself or something like that.

Honestly, I knew you couldn’t hold out that long.
It’s sad. The love I once felt for this show is steadily declining. There is no way I’m going to drop it, but I haven’t been happy with it for a long time. It’s like being in a bad relationship.
The only other time I’ve felt like this would of course be Inuyasha; and I’m still hanging with it. At a snails pace at least.
God this sucks.

Lookie, kids! It’s the old “bad guy is really a good guy but wanted everyone to think he’s a bad guy” plot device that is older than dirt! Yaaaaaaay! *barf*
*sigh* When you use a plot device like that it has to be handled reaaallly carefully, or it doesn’t work. And Kishimoto did not handle it carefully. Hence we are all going, “uh, WTF?”
My only guess as to why they had to have that “showdown” was probably something to do with he had to let Sasuke “experience” every one of his eye techniques so that he could ingrain them into Sasuke’s sharingan. Or whatever.
Can I say though that I still think Tobi/Madara is a good character? He, and the rest of Akatsuki, are the only things keeping this manga interesting. At all.

Well it’s time to turn to Nabari for my teenage ninja fix, if only someone would sub it. Itachi secretly good was lame enough when it was just a fanboy fantasy. Sasuke still emo, Naruto still weak and stupid, Sakura still mostly useless… is there ever going to be character development? It’s like they get character development moments but once their character changing fight happens they completely revert to their former personalities.
Sasuke becomes an ice cold killing machine -> Itachi dies -> Sasuke becomes emo again. Naruto learns how to calmly come up with a plan and execute it -> Naruto blows up Kakuzu -> Naruto goes back to his old stupid self. Sakura powers up because she’s useless -> Sakura kicks Sasori’s ass -> Sakura reverts back to bystander/instant comatose in every fight after that
The only one who actually ever seems to evolve is Shikamaru of all people

John> Shikamaru got shafted too ever since his arc ended. But yea generally the characters are brought back then thrown away. It’s like they’re like stock photos that you can use & reuse rather than anything that develops. The only one who’s developed was Sasuke (and even he’s reverted back)…and as everyone said that’s what this manga should be called.
Ryunatta> They mentioned it in the chapter where Jiraiya was talking about uchiha madara and they then did a closeup on Tobi’s sharingan. From then on everyone was like “oh yea tobi = madara” so now its just officially confirmed.
Sabrina> LOL I can’t believe you still watch Inuyasha. I downloaded some movie that was like “heres what happened in the next 50 chapter of Inuyasha after the anime ended” and other than Kagura dying nothing happened! I’m so glad I gave up on that show XD; I remember how in 2002-2003 Inuyasha was like the Naruto of last year.

Well about Shikamaru, I meant that his character never really backslides into the “I’m going to fake being unconscious so I don’t have to go on a mission” type of person he was at first. Meanwhile, Naruto STILL jumps in hotheaded, shouting about how enraged he is. Sakura… she just stands there and watches, being emo about things.
Sasuke doesn’t need cock. He’s been on bottom too much and I think this is why he is emo. He needs to get on top of some girl and remember that he is a man.
Sasuke + a girl? LOL.
Although I think a certain red head wouldn’t mind getting on top of him

Jesus is there any end in sight for this series? make the characters learn something or make naruto the big boss dude I’ve forgotten the name of or create some conflict between a couple nations.
Naruto has so many characters (admittedly mostly pointless) and such a large setting (mostly unused) that there could be interesting and even stupid little subplots that could be fun; what the hell is everyone else doing? Instead it focuses on the family which no one gives a shit about and don’t seem to be that strong either.
If Itachi was smart, he would have put the ninjutsu in Sasuke’s pants.
Clearly Itachi was too gay himself to be able to think of such a brilliant idea…since that would have revived the Uchiha clan which he was “supposedly” forced to kill
So Itachi’s idea of protecting is to use Tsukiyomi like twice on his little brother and give him mental breakdowns? Somehow I’m not convinced

The pacing in this chapter was awful, almost half the pages were dramatic-zooming-in-on-faces.
I just can’t believe this. You know, before this huge ass Itachi vs Sasuke battle, I actually thought Itachi was good, and I wanted him to be this way, so that Sasuke could regret his leaving the village and betraying his friends and blah blah blah…But after seeing a screaming Itachi face and enduring the incredibly long retarded fight of 2 emo gay brothers, I was like “Fine, whatever, let Itachi be evil and gay and emo”, I didn’t care anymore. Yeah, by the end of the fight I didn’t care ’bout both of them.
And now, it turns out Itachi was really a good guy, he saved village, ahaaha…Nice one, Kishi.
Fuck, I just don’t care anymore, I just want to get it over with. Just get to Naruto, man!! Sakura, Karin, Suigetsu, Hinata, Kakashi, Yamato - whoever, just not UCHIHA!
I’m lmao. This chapter was like a troll. I’m almost wishing Kishi says “HAHA April Fools” in the next chapter.
BTW, I’m still waiting for Hinata to be in the limelight. Frankly I can’t see how she’s supposedly still attracted to Naruto.

Ok, enough gloating.
I have this disturbing feeling that this little conversation will take a long, long time to get anywhere. We thought we would finally see Madara’s face and know about Itachi this chapter, but apparently we didn’t get anywhere near that.
What’s confusing right now is that if Itachi was trying to keep Madara away from Sasuke, why is Madara being all friendly with him and even insist on him knowing the truth about Itachi

And Sasuke´s story is better than Naruto´s…I mean face it…He is a more interesting charachter and Naruto is just the usunal main charachter-type who cares about him??
