Manga Review: Special A Vol. 12

I wasn’t really gonna do this since many people are really behind, but since someone asked here’s a brief review. For some strange reason the volume started out completely disconnected from the ending of Volume 11. For a while I felt like I was reading the wrong thing. I kept thinking “is this really vol. 12? Did I skip something…?” But lo and behold they didn’t “connect” the plot until midway through so I guess I have to give this one a thumbs down. One thing that really bugs me are chapters about sports competitions. I think they work better in anime format, but in manga format they often really bore me. I had to deal with this while reading Ouran and Kaichou wa Meido-sama as well.

So basically to cut to the chase you can skip the first chapter and just read on until basically Kei is like “Look WOMAN, I only want to make hot passionate love to you, I don’t need your stupid “nakama” crap. Now come here and kiss me.” :twisted: Of course Tadashi cockblocks them as usual so no kissing in this volume :(

Also Hikari goes to Kei’s house to act like his “sister” because of an earlier incident where Kei sees that Hikari is a “oniichanko” (a sister close to her brother…..all I ask is why this all of a sudden?). Anyway Kei’s brother Sui gets jealous but eventually accepts Hikari and lets her know about Kei having to move to London. Finally we are back on track with what ended in volume 11!

Then you got this kusojiji who’s one of those old grandpa’s who doesn’t want his grandson to be swayed by some FLOOZY poor Japanese girl. (I’m having Ouran vibes again) So basically now Kei has to like find a way to overcome his grandpa in order to be able to stay in Japan and not move to London permanently.

So that’s about the jist of it. I wonder if the anime will even get this far… :neutral:

    Wow… Like as you mentioned, I’m behind. What happened since volume 7??? :shock: I missed so much already.

    Hinano> Really?! Finally. It took a while for her to get it through her thick skull though. :neutral: Actually, when I first started reading this I was getting tons of Ouran flashbacks. =D

    Thank you so much for writing this up! I can’t help but feel a bit guilty though, sorry if my request ended up being an inconvenience for you… ^^;
    As for the volume itself I’m kinda disappointed nothing romantic really happened. I was hoping something would happen like in the last post you did for the manga, where Hikari and Kei kissed. I got my hopes up too much I suppose :neutral: I really like the art style in the manga though, too bad the anime wasn’t able to reproduce it.

    unfortunatly for me.. i cant read kanji… so i have to wait for scanns… :cry: and the scannss are slow so up till now i’v only read untill the part where kei kissed hikari 2nd time on the lips :twisted: up till that part everything is so funny that i almost laugh till my head drop off :twisted:

    Can anyone tell me which volume is chapter 34? That’s where i’m at. I can’t really find any more english scans of it. It stops coming out since February. :cry:

    mmm about the twin story, jun ends up with a girl or a guy? XD im curious cuzz i want junn to end up with a handsome guy XD! *fan girl*
