Friday Premieres: MMORPGs and Collapsing Houses
Tower of Druaga - So despite Aroduc’s summary (which I made a good decision in the end not to base my opinion of this show on) I decided to watch this show after seeing the number of parodies mentioned by Kurogane. I was pretty amused that in the OP it looks like they’re showing normal people who play MMORPGs. Being a long time RO player I feel like I have to watch this show because a lot of the jokes are pretty amusing. But MMO jokes aside, how about the NicoNico video joke? Or that Evangelion joke when Jil’s wings like turn into the Eva 01’s from the Eva op. xD Once Jil’s dream kinda ended it wasn’t as funny. I really hope the rest of the show will be like this episode was…and doesn’t get all serious business on me. JP tells me it was directed by the guy who directed Full Metal Panic and Gatekeepers, both of which I liked. I’ll have to check out episode 2 before I decide whether I will be picking this up. Also I watched it in horrible quality on Crunchyroll because it had subtitles and someone watching it with me is Japanese is impaired 
Itazura na Kiss - is just too awesome. I expected to enjoy this show but what makes it more awesome is it reminds me of those 90s shoujo animes that I miss oh so dearly. Anyway this is a definite pick up for Friday as I had originally planned but I wanted to check it out just to be sure. I don’t really know what she sees in that guy, and aside the fact that he’s voiced by the guy who did our favorite Nice Boat captain, I wanna kick him square in the nuts just for being a jackass. So naturally I really hope by the end of this show he’s on his knees begging for sex0ring from the girl because he wants her that badly. Also the fat girl randomly amuses me because I almost never see fat anime characters (except for Chouji in Naruto 
) If you like Moe things, steer clear, if you like good old fashioned shoujo, come along for the ride. Also the ending song was really catchy.

Eh, it’s typically impossible to take another blogger’s opinion when it comes to shows because we all have ridiculously different tastes. Take a piece of conversation Aroduc and I had in IRC yesterday for example. It went something like this…

People are nailing the Itazura na Kiss character designs but imo it’s light years beyond the original source material. And yeah, that guy is a jackass forever. I don’t think he ever becomes not-a-jackass. Of course he has a traumatic childhood history as a trap which I think is where his personality comes from.
After that first Druaga ep, I hope and pray that it remains funny throughout. The main character is apparently a level 1 noob, which is, as we all know, the funniest time in any MMO. My own personal noob highlight was accidentally summoning 4 waves of enemies on an scripted fight in WoW, complete with screen shots of people going “I KNOW IT WAS YOU!” to me. If this thing turns out to be a wholescale parody of the entire MMO experience, from dumb noob to jaded, bitter raid farmer, this could be one of my favorite shows of all time. If it turns into pure serious business… well lets just say I have little faith in Gonzo’s ability to execute a modern day Lodoss.
What -is- wrong with Totali?
Druaga wasn’t bad, but I’ve just seen almost all of those jokes before, 95% of them from Slayers. Aside from the last little sketch they did with all the parodies and once the surprise that it was a comedy wore off so much of the humor was just… well… seemed like it came from a 10 year old’s joke book. I’m not an MMO player though, so *shrug*

Me too, but its fast and I also am “impaired” as your someone.
Still they delivered AND they are actually seem to be decent subs … still in shock from that …
And a lot of parodies are not from MMORPGs, the “I am your father” is … not, last time I checked there is no tentacle rape in MMORPGs and the “after this I am going home and get married …*death*) cannot happen in MMORPGs.
Its more of a parody of the typical elements in RPGs.
LOL, I thought the first episode of the tower of druaga was hilarious, but since it was just all a dream, I dunnoes, it may turn into serious business as you said. Still, I love their clothes and even though the fighting sucks, I like the pictures
Go Fatina~ Haha, that part when Neeba was telling them to wait etc, was so frking funny. And even though I’ve never seen Turren Lagann, I definitely recognized the similarities in the scene when Jil transformed and his sword turned into a hammer.

the quality on crunchyroll was horrible.. like a badly tuned tv… the niconico joker part was really funny
and the part when fatina… (sounds like a philiphin maid name) got tentacle bondage and the guys was juz waited and watch..

Yes I KNOW about the star wars parody but its just so overused in American movies that I think I mentally ignored it when writing this post. I guess to Japan it’s still funny? lol
I think it was that guy’s house that’s just a piece of crap thats why he was able to afford it lol.
The tentacle bondage part was damn fun, the star wars parody was OK, but I didn’t pay attention to it since I really hate Star War movies, instead I preferred the “to fight me, you must defeat me” line more.
Overall, it was a pretty decent first episode and I hope the rest of the series stays the same, but I rather download it than watch it on CR.
You still need to watch the “real” version of the first episode of Druaga. It shows all the things that happens when Jil was sleeping and it also introduces the other characters (the Opening is also slightly different with the other characters).

nah… the most of first episode was just jin’s dream…. but the real world is somehow more seriously than his dream… soo i dunoe what will happen next.. but i think ultimatly their target is the top floor of the tower where Druaga is…who they are trying to murder
One thing I learned from that anime is… Planning to get married while on a journey is fatal apparently XD Still yeah I’m not too enthusiastic about it as it is Gonzo, poor Gonzo. But hey least the episode was a good laugh it felt like one of Karura’s parodies.
Actually, I was wondering if anyone tried tried the BoSTV version of Druaga… GONZO aside, this little experiment at immediate delivery of anime with good subs looks promising.

I looked at episode 14, but it was not the same, by the way, kotoko looked older in that picture for a reason
