I should have known that there is no use trying to talk sense to yaoi fangirls

Published by Hinano at 11:20 pm under Conventions, Rants & Raves

This is completely irrelevant to anything other than the fact that after Anime Boston more and more events are popping up that seem to be some sort of twisted hints that are telling me “Stop going to anime conventions.” I honestly think the only thing that continuously kept me coming back to cons is because I like to make Doujinshi, and cons are a good place to sell them (although it seems online sales are just as good if not better  )

Anyway the point of this post…is recently I’ve been contacted by a chica from New York asking me to participate with her on an eroge panel at Anime Next. She specifically wanted me to be there because of my “experience” with otome games. They were going to discuss how games work and compare the original games to their anime remakes. (Although to date there is no Otome game turned anime - only yaoi games turned anime lol.)

So since that seemed kinda fun to do I agreed to go. Now after a couple days mulling over this I thought to myself - will the audience be able to handle this?? I can imagine the audience will be pedophile BO otaku or yaoi fangirls who thought they could get some yaoi screencaps to leer at while their parents are having dinner in Manhattan. I put this worry aside and browsed the anime next forums to see what kind of crowd was coming and came upon THIS thread.

I don’t know what posessed me to respond, but I figured maybe if I talked some sense into these brainless piece of shit excuses for human beings they would understand what they are doing is a dangerous activity. It’s NOT fucking hillarious. If you don’t wanna bother reading I’ll cut to the point. Someone started a thread about Yaoi paddles and someone in the thread said this:

Isn’t the Yaoi Paddle Game going around in a circle and spanking people you don’t know, until you’re too sore to sit down? Razz I second the notion of the Yaoi Paddle Game! ^^

I didn’t even bother reading the rest because that alone pissed me off to no end and so I responded with:

If someone hit me with one, I would immediately report it to security and have you kicked out. There’s a reason why many conventions are banning them. They are not “toys you can whack people with” they are WOOD and they can HURT.

Now I had honestly thought I was giving them a sensible response. I thought they would understand that it’s the same as getting some nunchucks and spinning them around thinking you’re Bruce Lee for kicks & giggles. But alas, it was like trying to convince a log it was not made of wood. After getting the following response from one of these teenage twats:

Exactly, not even I the YAOI fairy would want to hit someone like you anyway. <_< Its only fun and games, no one even ASKED you if you WANTED to be spanked so get out of this thread and leave us Otaku alone.

The fact that they use Otaku like it’s some sort of proud trademark should tell you alone the brain capacity of these pimple faced brats.

So this shit in combination with what I read on about certain deviant artists (←I still think he’s a dude lol), has started to convince me that something about this hobby of mine is a mistake. I mean I have a shitload of prints I had printed that I really wanna sell at Anime Next because it doesn’t cost much to get there (so no hotel fees like anime boston) and my apartment is tiny enough that I could use the space…but at this rate it’s like god is it even worth it? Maybe I should just quit making doujinshi while I’m at it because the idea of going to a con with these shitheads is making me wanna bang my head against a wall.

Also I discovered from my Japanese friend at dinner this evening that in Japan if you like anime it’s bad (otaku etc), but if you like Disney they consider you pure and clean. LOL imagine saying “I like Disney movies!” as a grown man in America. We had to explain to him that it had a similar connotation.

I don’t know what the point of this post was but I just had to say it. This has been like boiling in me ever since I got back from Anime Boston, and it continued when my “entry” for the Connecticon mascot contest was brutally wiped by Sai. Oh yes also people in the English SAI forum hate me because I told them that the creator doesn’t seem like he has any intention to add Paypal since he never responds to any of the English users questions on his BBS and they basically called me a hater and told me to leave the boards. Fags.

I’ll just blame it on cold medicine.

P.S. I don’t care if Jam Project is coming, I refuse to attend Otakon ever again.

“Exactly, not even I the YAOI fairy would want to hit someone like you anyway.”
God, this sounds like the comeback a six-year-old brat, who’s unable to muster up an intelligent thought would say.

I agree that your response is indeed the right one, and any thinking person would agree with you but after reading the rest of their answers it’s obvious that watching so much yaoi has destroyed the little intelligence they had. But what else can be expected from a bunch of idiots who enjoy hitting each other.

Why do you continue loitering on shit boards then? Now move on.

  5. akonNo Gravatar UNITED STATESon 29 Mar 2008 at 12:00 am

That would piss me off too.

If it’s too much trouble, then I’d say don’t bother going to cons. If you leave feeling nothing but a fat@$$ headache (that you paid money to get), then it’s not worth it at all.

    Uhh…NO! Don’t stop drawing!

Oh yeah, thanks for the link to that ‘artist’ thing.

  7. HinanoNo Gravatar UNITED STATESon 29 Mar 2008 at 12:30 am

LianYL> Basically because the idiots at Anime Next won’t respond to anyone about the artist alley tables so I check the forum regularly to see if there is any updates in regards to that. That’s really about it. Normally I don’t go to con forums for kicks and giggles

microlm> Welcome, ironically I found out about it because of people talking about “low sales” on the anime boston forum

akon> For now at least I’d avoid the “fan run” cons. From what I hear New York Comic Con doesn’t have these problems…and now that I think about it, there weren’t too many insane yaoi fangirls running around New York Anime Fest…but then again it was only in its first year so they’re bound to increase in numbers eventually.

Scheris> I honestly don’t get how teens these days can be so brainless. I look back and think if I walked around school saying I’m an otaku and a yaoi fairy, I’d get beaten and raped or something.

    John> as always!

Shin> at which part did you facepalm?

That’s when you reply back “Well, that’s okay because not even the most desperate, horny shitface would want to hit you with his penis. Woops!”

Or you can just projectile vomit all over them; it carries the same connotations.

You are making enemies so fast now! Don’t be like Owen, lol. Tell these kids you know where they live and will be calling their parents!

And don’t go to that lame Anime Next! Go to Connecticon instead!

Hey, I even moved my CT Buildings Blog to its own domain,
historicbuildingsct.com. And Ive crated one for Massachusetts:
    mass.historicbuildingsct.com.

I’d better get back to the dango comics…

  11. CaitlinNo Gravatar JAPANon 29 Mar 2008 at 2:41 am

I’m not the biggest fan by far but I’m extremely careful how I say I like anime. As a foreigner (and also an adult), it’s apparently ok for me to like Sazae-san and Maruko-chan. Anything else is instantly, “Oh, you’re one of the foreign otaku.” -.- But if conversation leans that way, I’ve found jumping to Disney and how much you love Mickey is distracting enough.

I agree with your stance on the game. I’ve never heard of it but if anyone randomly hit me with a yaoi paddle, particularly a teenager, I’d be pretty angry. I don’t see the difference of getting beaten at school or anywhere else, just because there’s a yaoi paddle involved. Even if I were to say no, I’d be willing to guess that some would hit me anyway the moment I turned my back. :(

God, why must the fans of things I love be such fucktards? This is why I stay the hell away from forums like that.

And also why I usually go to smaller conventions. They have more even numbers of people who aren’t complete idiots.

  16. BlissmoNo Gravatar AUSTRALIAon 29 Mar 2008 at 7:43 am

Well, you’re probably lucky to be able to go to conventions. I still have to study (a lot) since my parents are always watching 0_0

And the only reason I find time to post up summaries and watch anime is because I told them that it’d help with my english writing skills.

And now that I’ve read this post, I now know how some people can be. I never knew people were like that on the net … I thought that if they can use the net they have to at least be somewhat smart/sensible.

Hinano, just tell them to face the fact that the only reason they can’t stand you is because you’re much cooler than them.

  17. LydiaNo Gravatar UNITED STATESon 29 Mar 2008 at 7:45 am

Banning yaoi paddles? I agree to that! I do not see what the big thing about yaoi is, anyway. Thank goodness, if I ever got into it (and I never will - can’t stand it), I would probably be 300 pounds by now and living on Cheetos.

  19. onaNo Gravatar PHILIPPINESon 29 Mar 2008 at 7:51 am

I hope I never, ever, ever even SEE a yaoi paddle in a con where I live.

  20. BerenNo Gravatar FRANCEon 29 Mar 2008 at 10:03 am

The only yaoi I ´ve ever watched was Gravitation, and just because it was great fun, and the only yaoi couple I support is that of Subaru and Seishirou (from Tokyo Babylon) ’cause their romance is kind of tragic (and it would also work if they were a guy and a girl).

I mean, I think it is all right if you like yaoi, but you can´t turn it into your main goal in life, going around there screaming like a little girl and insulting those that don´t share your interest!
Fortunately, we don’t have those kind of idiots in Spain or France (as far as I know)

  21. SabasNo Gravatar UNITED STATESon 29 Mar 2008 at 10:06 am

They’re yaoi fangirls. Logic and reasoning never applied for them.

Don’t let them ruin your enjoyment of the hobby, or the terrorists will win~

  22. HinanoNo Gravatar UNITED STATESon 29 Mar 2008 at 10:26 am

    Ashley> I always find your input incredibly amusing :lol: But I suppose if I did that I’d be sinking to their idiocy level xD;

DS> How about you move your blog to your new domain? :P

Caitlin> Wow foreign otaku? LOL. What about Crayon Shin-chan? haha
The other problem is these idiots don’t pay attention to what’s around them…so even if they don’t mean to hit YOU with it, running around and spinning to hit someone else prolly wacks other people in the process by accident

Tess> you and me both sistah :P

    Forceflow> Indeed lol

Kirokokori> The thing is, Anime Next is still a considerably small convention. I think last year the max was 7000 people…and the same people run Manga Next which only hits about 3000.

Blissmo> Again, it’s like trying to explain to them that calling yourself a yaoi fairy isn’t going to get you anywhere in life, except maybe prison rape lol

Lydia> Yea that about sums it up haha

Endz> It’s exactly what it sounds. It’s a wooden oar (smaller than a boat one of course) and it has the word “Yaoi” (or Yuri, Uke, Seme) painted on it.

ona> I think the yaoi paddle thing was created by this US con seller “Hen Da Ne” so I think you’ll be ok :P

Beren> I watched a lot of yaoi shows, (Gakuen Heaven, SukiSho, Princess Princess) because a lot of them are actually funny. They focus more on humor as opposed to buttsecks. Gravitation was this way as well until it got all emo in the end. I think the crazy yaoi fangirl title is strictly held by an american teenage brat.

Sabas> Haha yea that’s why I’m still gonna go to the con…but if I see any of my friends getting paddled or any kind of violence I’m reporting it to security!!

  23. CherylHewNo Gravatar MALAYSIAon 29 Mar 2008 at 10:28 am

LOL I ain’t a yaoi fangirl and I buy Malaysian ripoff Pocky called Rocky (LMAO) at RM1.50, about less than 0.50USD XDD Well I’ve been to 2 cons over here and it’s no way as bad as AB XD Well the cons, even the biggest are no way as huge as US cons (12000sq ft hall here) though recently the number of otakus attending seem to have risen so it’s packed, but no crazy lines thanfully ^^;; And no yaoi paddles for sure!!

Meh, conventions here are thankfully more shithead-free compared to those places. Although the conventions themselves are a lot less fun (that’s probably subjective, but generally, there’s a lot less to do, less places to go around, no “dealer’s rooms” [technically], etc.). But now I’m just ranting.

  29. JohnGNo Gravatar UNITED STATESon 29 Mar 2008 at 4:02 pm

If chocolate on a stick only cost 50 cents then I would be pounding it, too. Only con I’ve gone to is San Diego Comic Con which isn’t an anime con at all (though the anime viewing rooms are great for naps unless something like Bleach is showing).

I forgot what I actually wanted to say…

    Let’s try…

    1) Pocky is overrated.
    2) Hey! I like Disney! At least not the recent crap. The classics are good. Also, Disney dubs are the best around.
    3) Anime is full of pr0n - hence why the association.
    4) Yaoi in moderate amounts is good. Like all things, excessive yaoi is bad for your health. So is excessive loli, harem, fanservice, shota, yuri, etc2. Always enjoy in moderation. Yes, even excessive cute is bad as it causes your teeth to decay from the excessive sweetness and induces dieabeetus.
