Spring ‘08 JDrama preview extravaganza!

Published by Hinano at 2:48 pm under ■Drama/Live Action■

So everyone’s been doing Spring ‘08 preview posts…but since Spring ‘08 anime looks like poop I decided to check out which Spring DRAMAS are coming out! I actually found a few I’m interested in so I will talk about them below! :D

Zettai Kareshi - I read the manga not too long ago so the storyline is still fresh in my head. Also Hayami Mokomichi will be playing Night so it’s gonna be very hot. I am guaranteed to be blogging this drama (I think I’ll add it to my category list after this post!). I hope they do a great job with it and frankly this is the drama I’m looking forward to the most!

Last Friends - This drama actually seems kinda interesting. The premise kinda reminds me of Orange Days a bit. The drama focus is basically on the issues and struggles of the kids in their late teens early 20s are going through. Apparently they all got an “issue” of some sort and they end up being house mates. Pretty general slice of life but has the potential to be really good and emotionally impacting. Hopefully will pick this one up as well.

Puzzle - Drama featuring Satomi-chan (she was the “bride” in Hanayome to Papa that I covered last year) as a 30 year old teacher. That alone amuses me considering she’s playing a character 10 years older than her real age lol. xD It seems like a mystery drama but I could see them adding some comedic scenes every now and then. Will check this one out and if it’s pretty good may pick it up.

Kimi Hannin Janai yo Ne? - This is another mystery drama but this one is guaranteed to be hillarious. I mean one of the detectives has a bad habit of falling in love with the criminal XD. I can just imagine him pulling some sex parlor teenager off the street and then her offering to do him one of her “services” and him giving into it lol. XD Anyway looks to be as amusing as that yaoi fangirl drama I blogged not too long ago so definitely looking forward to checking this out.

Ryokiteki na Kanojo - Also known as My Sassy Girl. I watched the Korean movie like 6 years ago and I actually really liked it. However I can’t say the same level of greatness will be in this Japanese drama. Well mainly because of the fact that they set the lead role to Kusanagi Tsuyoshi of SMAP. No offense but couldn’t they have gotten a better looking actor? :S Oh well I’ll check this out, but no guarantees I will be picking it up.

And that’s it for my interesting Spring dramas. Hopefully I’ll be able to pick up at least 2-3 from this list to make up for the lack of anything worthwhile to watch in the Anime season. Also for those wondering, at this time the only guaranteed anime spring show I want to pick up is Special A and Da Crapo II.

Kimi Hannin Janai yo Ne?: this looks good! I wouldn’t bet on the chances of it being subbed, so I hope you stick with it.

There are some dramas that are subbed and it’s slowly becoming my new past time. I’m in the middle of one called “9 outs” or something, it’s a baseball metaphor and it’s pretty good. I downloaded them all at once and have been watching 1 or 2 a day for the past week. Should be done by Sunday.

The first the look very interesting.

Oh yay drama layout! Zettai Kareshi seems vaguely interesting..I read the manga, usual shoujo fluff with the customary Watase-sensei comedy! Last friends seems ok too.

Personally, for spring ‘08, I’m looking forward to that show Allison & Lilia. It seems to have all the elements that would get me to love a show (not to mention being based off stories from the creator of Kino’s Journey).

Also, Vampire Knight is supposed to be good.

hm I never liked Kino no Tabi so I didn’t think it would be up my alley. Vampire Knight again I’m gonna check out…I haven’t read the manga yet, been making my way through Reborn lately

I haven’t read it yet either, a bunch of friends of mine have though. They all said it was good.

What series are you looking forward to then (if any)? Allison & Lilia is still at the top of my list.

Oh, wait, never mind, I just read the last bit of your post.

Zettai Kareshi — does anyone remember the last live-action adaptation of a manga that actually did the original story justice?

Well at least it’ll be good material for rant posts. :)

BTW, you must be aware that the Special for Proposal Daisakusen is out. Any chance of subbing it just for the old times’ sake? :)

OMG!! really Zettai Kareshi?? I read it! I thought it was gonna be an anime first but turns out I was dead wrong. Its becoming a Jdrama!! holy smokes!!

and I’ll be watching “Kimi Hannin Janai yo Ne?” and “Ryokiteki na Kanojo.” I’ve heard of My sassy girl but I never got time to watch it. I’ll be watching the series though! Im gonna be checking your blogs on these!

Zettai Kareshi: Mangas should be made into animes, not j-dramas!

Last Friends: This was the original title for School Days.

Puzzle: This could be good but it won’t have dangos in it, so FAIL!

Kimi Hannin Janai yo Ne?: Your predictions about this one have put a bad image in my mind. And what if he falls for a serial killer?

    Ryokiteki na Kanojo: 안녕하세요?

So this is your extravaganza? Humph. (At least there’s no Donald)

While I don’t particular love dramas(last one I watched was Nodame Cantabile) I’ll try out anything that’s subbed

Awesome post! Aren’t you going to watch the Itazura na Kiss anime?
Oh, I also thought you would try the drama “Around 40″. xD

It doesn’t seem like there’s a lot of love around here for dramas…..well, I for one love watching them (some times a lot more than anime….lol) so thanks for the heads up on all the new dramas. Looks promising!

    Sabrina:
There’s actually a team planning on subbing Kimi Hannin Janai yo Ne? but they’re still trying to recruit more translators at the moment. Hopefully they’ll find enough by the time it airs….it’ll be nice to understand :D

My Sassy Girl Japanese Version? R u kidding me?!  The Best Korean Movie ever!(believe me, i’ve seen so many of them and none match its awesomeness) Agree with u with the choice of Kusanagi-imho there are better actors with goofy face out there like Yamapi maybe lol ;p I hope this turn out well or there’ll be nice boatssss…

zettai kareshi-lol a live adaptation of Watase sensei is a must see for me!
    -must-find-time- >_>
