KimiKiss: Pure Rouge - 24 (Finale)

Published by Hinano at 7:59 pm under KimiKiss: Pure Rouge

I was suddenly reminded of the nausea from the Fung Wa bus to Boston when watching this scene.

Yea yea we all knew it was coming. I was secretly hoping that at least Mao and/or Koiichi would end up alone - hell at one point of the episode I thought they were all gonna go yaoi and yuri it up but yea Futami got Kazuki and Maou (pun intended) got Koiichi. Yumi & Asuka get shafted, Kai becomes a jazz pimp. What a drag. I think I woulda been happier if this was a 1 shot OAV where the character has a childhood friend, tries to date another girl, but realizes that the childhood friend is still the one he loves. We didn’t need 24 episodes of the same old shit over & over again. J.C. Staff once again you fail with flying colors. I can’t even begin to imagine the horrors that await me in Zero no Tsukaima 3.

See! I knew this pairing was inevitable. Now that I saw this ending, I miss School Days.

Yea I was totally thinking about School Days during the campfire scene. But alas my dreams did not come true

I just want to say thank you for continuing to blog this piece of dreck. I wish I knew how you did it.

I had a bet going about the ending, but I just couldn’t keep up after episode 16. It was just nauseating. And it had looked so promising at the beginning too…

    Well

It’s not that loving Mao was implausible. There were certainly seed for that that was sown. However, It was the development was abrupt and felt forced. This conclusion is something that would have felt natural with 15 more episodes. Yes, you can love more that one person at a given time. Yes, you can fall out of love to and start to pay attention to other alternatives. But it does not happen like this.

An equivalent of this is if Kazuki would suddenly let go of Eriko after stalking her so long and suddenly realizing how Asuka is important to him

Please don’t call her her Maou, though. That’s an honorary title that should not be bestowed upon the unworthy

If I remember, J.C Staff ALWAYS fail. Whenever I watch an anime that was animated/directed by them it always leave me in disapointment and usually all their animations have comedy in them…

    Shana - 3rd - :3

Whatever the ending is next week, there will be a next season of Shana! Hopefully succint and to the point in 13 episodes.

Yuji: I want a world where Shana and I can sexx0r in peace without all this crap going on!!! -goes to kidnap shana-

I have to thank you for blogging this so that the rest of us don’t have to waste the time on it. I stalled at the middle, hoping for the best; now that I know the worst has happened, I can officially drop the show and try to forget about it

I too want to hear about any Spring anime you plan on blogging (or if you plan on blogging at all).

I stopped following this about ep 12 then got bored and started watching again, I’m always at least 1 ep behind you’re posts, but it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be. I loved somethings (not many) and tolerated the rest (A LOT!) but all in all it was an adequate waste of time. :)

  15. [...] little experience with shows of Kimikiss’s genre. Hinano, who presumably has more, swiftly dismisses it as ‘24 episodes of the same old shit [I apologise, dear reader; her words, not mine] over [...]

  16. HinanoNo Gravatar UNITED STATESon 24 Mar 2008 at 8:27 am

In regards to spring shows, I realized that whenever I do a “preview” post, I end up not watching half the shows I wanted to and then watching some random one that I thought was going to suck. So I figured I’ll just let the episodes air and do some first impressions. The only “guaranteed” anime for now is Special A and Da Capo II….part 2 lol.

  17. DerangedNo Gravatar UNITED KINGDOMon 24 Mar 2008 at 9:27 am

Although I wanted this to happen… 24 episodes to get there wasn’t even worth it for me to watch most of it… D:

  18. CarleanaNo Gravatar CANADAon 24 Mar 2008 at 10:52 am

Is it just me or do japanese people like making animes where the girl is older than the guy? Examples: Tomoyo & Nagisa (Clannad), Mao & Koichii (Pretty obvious), Shugo Chara (Kukai & Sion)- Hopefully they don’t become a couple :) but yah.. I don’t like the girl being older than the guys… it’s just me. Poor Yumi.. but the pairings at the end were pretty obvious.. I mean who DIDN’T see Yumi & Asuka being tossed aside?

  19. HinanoNo Gravatar UNITED STATESon 24 Mar 2008 at 11:54 am

You forgot Onegai Teacher…lol. I could see Asuka being tossed, but I didn’t think Yumi would be. At least it woulda been better if Koiichi realized long distance doesn’t work and eventually fell for Mao…rather than beforehand. God.

  20. marmotNo Gravatar UNITED KINGDOMon 24 Mar 2008 at 12:23 pm

Hinano I think you mean onegai sensei…
    :D

I can’t be bothered to watch the final couple episodes. this series really fell into a hole and decided to keep on digging and even though it moved away from it’s harem roots, it still encourages girls to essentially be dumb. Even if eriko was a genius she still had no common sense and the two who did have common sense ended up alone in the end.

  21. Ghost of SixtenNo Gravatar UNITED STATESon 24 Mar 2008 at 12:40 pm

I didn’t think Kouichi’s change of heart was too sudden. It was made clear that it hurt him more to see Mao unhappy than to see Yuumi unhappy - and it was also made clear that Yuumi could see that too. She kept herself from asking Kouichi whether he was in love with Mao because she already knew the answer, and decided to just make the best use of the time she had left. And just like Mao did to Eiji, Kouichi ended his relationship with Yuumi in order to be true to himself. That’s the lesson behind the not-so-happy ending: not being true to your feelings, or not realizing them soon enough, can lead you into a trap which you can’t escape without hurting someone.

But that said, I’m afraid even the biggest J.C.Staff whore on earth cannot declare Kimikiss as another reason to sell your soul to J.C.Staff. The things that worked so well with Honey and Clover didn’t quite work here. And the fact that the main lesson involved situations where someone had to get hurt kind of made the characters hard to love and the story hard to enjoy. (Though that is a valuable lesson in real life.)

Take heart though - J.C.Staff has a win rate equal to its fail rate. Potemayo ran at the same time as Familiar of Zero 2, and this season we have the most excellent Shigofumi. And if J.C.Staff can turn Shana 2 around after a pointless nosedive in the first half, they can turn Familiar of Zero around in part 3.

Ugh. I gave up on this when I saw the Mao winning, but it still makes me sick. Though Kai will go off and be a rich jazz pimp and Yumi got rid of those losers forever. I hope she finds herself a fine man in her new school. Asuka is too good for everyone and is going to find someone much better then the first guy she was in love with.

After this and now True Shit I’m going to give up on this whole genre for a while. It’s not good for my health. Special A here I come!

JC Staff I can’t hate when they did Honey and Clover and Nodame, but I guess that’s because they didn’t ruin the source material… not that they have much talent.

  28. zek33No Gravatar UNITED STATESon 24 Mar 2008 at 4:42 pm

Well, I think the writers clearly had the idea of wanting KouichixMao and KazukixFutami, but I think 12 or 13 episodes would have worked far better.

The one reason I do think this is better than Canvas 2 is that in Canvas 2 they developed HirokixKiri (a la Christmas-planned sleepovers and dates) until the very end twist in the final episode, so Kiri fans felt far more betrayed than Yuumi fans here who can acknowledge the following:

Here, they halted KouichixYuumi development shortly after Mao’s confession way earlier because she stopped pulling him and just let him drift over to Mao, but I think it would have worked far better if the series was shorter and KouichixYuumi and KaixMao had never really gone as far as they did.

Stretching it to 26 episodes added some drama, but the fact of the matter is that everything in Kimikiss happened in the last minute of every episode.

I think the pairings were fine overall; the execution was a bit of a disappointment for me.

so much for the freakin baton pass!!!
The only thing that I was rooting for was Eriko and kazuki kissing in the rooftop and cheering them on. Nice Tsundere
other notable cheers were Megumi(again another Tsundere)and Akira, the Nan and Narumi(Nice Udon), Mitsuki and Eiji

But of all I was yelling at my computer screen “No!” for like the moments that was inevitable to come even though I knew this crap was going to happen:
Kouichi says to yumi “We need to talk”, NOOOO!
Kouichi says “remember that I promised……….”, NOOO!
Kouichi says “I can’t do those and I’m sorry”, NOOOO!

still what was the freakin baton pass for?
it was like she was saying: “Oh, I shall pass my slutiness to you my child now go on and make me proud”
Kimikiss, kimikiss…. you are one weird anime. I think my score for this will be 6/10 considering the nice Eriko x Kazuki ending. Only thing that was nice. the rest was like crap. And now the rantings are over.

Wtf I never expected THIS to happen! This series leads to an epic fail. It would of been better if Yumi came out of nowhere and slash Moa’s neck, then blood spurs out, and Yumi laughs all crazy in the end; causing a nice boat to happen I guess.

  33. Jauken7No Gravatar UNITED STATESon 25 Mar 2008 at 11:05 pm

No no, Yuumi jumps out of nowhere and slashes Kouichi’s neck laughing all crazy like, then slashes Mao’s abdomen looking for babies, blood spurting everywhere. Now that’s NICE BOAT.
