Clannad - 22 (Finale….or something)
I was 
going to do a detailed Clannad post but the episode is on JP’s computer (which I watched Saturday morning before the con) and I don’t feel like transferring it. Have a game CG. Frankly I’m happy yet disappointed. I’m happy that Nagisa’s play scene was done really well, much better than the movie actually. I’ll give KyoAni that, the Nagisa breaking down and her parents + Tomoya cheering her on was awesomely done. Know what annoys me? Broken record time - why does Nagisa’s romance scene get like…5 minutes and Pooko/Kotomi get like 6-7 episodes each. Wtf? Also Tomoya’s confession was supposed to happen during that scene where Kyo cockblocked them…better late than never right? How about no. 
The next episode looks like an epic yaoi fest between Tomoya & Sunohara. I had a deep and passionate discussion about this with a girl dressed as Nagisa at Anime Boston’s artist alley. She also agreed that Nagisa got the shaft. Whatever, I guess I don’t care anymore. The show pretty much went downhill after Kotomi’s arc ended. When I was making the Kanon amv and flipping through the episodes again…I thought to myself…why couldn’t they just do Clannad this way? Why was Kanon and Air so much better directed than this? Well whatever, no use in debating over spilled milk. Let’s just hope season 2 of Haruhi is less disappointing.
P.S. No kissing in a romance show = automatic fail.

I’d say Clannad was great up until about episode 16, whatever the last basketball arc episode was. Then it kind of meandered around a bit in “ok” territory. Overall it was still good, but the last few weeks didn’t grip me and get me excited for the next episode like the first 2/3 or so. I’ll hold off final judgment until epic Sunohara end episode and After Story~
I say one episode of ownage in 22 episode. It’s ownage…
but of course that’s not thanks to Kyoani, that’s thanks to Jun Maeda and the Key staff.
At least Kyoani didn’t screw up this one. Though I don’t know how they could have screwed it up anyway. But then they did surprise me by screwing up the BGM last episode so…
Anyways Ownage for this episode. Raise Clannad Anime back up to A from B+. Of course Air and Kanon were better but, heck, we already knew that.
I don’t like the fact they took out both family and romance for group. Even if FF is right about the theme, it mess up the story. I almost cried for this episode, and if last episode was properly done I would have.
Like I said. Whenever Kyoani stay close to the game, it’s ownage. Whenever they depart too far they don’t do many things right.
IMO Hinano you’re too caught up about kissing. If I remember right in Air the most Yukito did with Misuzu was hug her. And personally in Clannad I like things like the hand-holding contest and the words they exchanged to play with each other and encourage each other more than any kiss…between Tomoya and Nagisa anyway.
BTW, for game vets, does anyone else think the episode preview looks like the legendary “Sunohara BADEND”?

In regards to kissing, like I said before, they kissed in the game, and how the hell can they have babies without at least kissing first?
Was there kissing in AIR and Kanon? I don’t remember, but I don’t think so…
I think KyoAni did a pretty good job of Clannad. My expectations were not met, but that’s mainly because Clannad never intended to meet my expectations; it was a completely different show from what I expected.

I love this episode mainly because of Akio..
He is GAR..
But KyoAni kept GAR moment like this to the minimum..
And wasted time on Fuuko and Kotomi instead..
But still a very good job by KyoAni..
true.. true.. i really hope to end with a kiss.. but to end wif a baby witout even a kissing scence…. wth!!
humm i kinda think that throughout the whole show.. Nagisa dint have much of a romance scence… hopefully we get a last min kiss?? like tsuyokiss??? 
hopefully it happens in the next ova… 
I actually really liked this episode, although, I think I’ve been enjoying things more due to the fact that I haven’t played Clannad yet. However, I do agree that it was awkward a bit that they didn’t show Nagisa and Tomoya kiss. I guess when he said that he loved her and it showed the chalkboard, it was implying that they did? lol, I have no idea….the scene looked pretty though. xD
Anyways, I heard that there’s supposed to be a big announcement about Clannad at the end of the month (it could just be a rumour though). Maybe they’re going to say that there’ll be an OVA or another season for the After Story.
Ending was too ordinary to have left an impact .-.
Also I forgot to mention that while there is no kissing in Air, Air focuses more on Misuzu’s reaching her “goal” and the “slight romance” between her and Yukito is just a bonus. Clannad clearly focused on romance the moment they had all those blushing moments between Nagisa & Tomoya and had that stupid bitch fight over him scene.
I heard that the After Story is a major part of Clannad. Without it the story wouldn’t be complete right? Maybe, just possibly KyoAni might animate that, not that I am complaining. It was an OK ending. A kiss at the end would of been sweet.
Tomoya & Sunohara deep love appeals to me greatly. Though I love me some Nagisa. Shame she got the shaft.
I hope they do some justice to the after story, if they do it. I want some kissing damn it.

but kyoani just does bad endings. for kanon and this show. I just don’t get it.

The things im prasing for this show were its nice comedy moments. Sunohara’s major ownage and the incredible bgm like the basketball scene or the gym scene. but overall its was just another failure. I hope the other two episodes are 100% better and at least one kiss for god’s sake
Other than the fact that Nagisa really did get the short of the stick in both screen time and interaction with Tomoya, the episode itself was rather briliant.
But it’s still a pretty good ending, in its own way… Why Sunohara!?
Seen it quite a while now but it’s still a great ep!
I’m actually glad they didn’t kiss. It’s unlike them to kiss after a confession. Keep that for Clannad ~After Story~ (second season)
I’m a NagisaxTomoya supporter. A quite a fangirl of this pair but I don’t want to see the relationship get rushed. I want build up and it’s there but I guess people can’t wait that much? Clannad hasn’t really began yet imo and so was Nagisa’s and Tomoya’s relationship. (just started going to the real deal) We will see more in the 2nd season for sure 8D

I think the problem is they spent too much time on stupid comedy to build up anything between Nagisa & Tomoya ^^; I mean in the game Tomoya was supposed to confess like 5 episodes ago…
Well yeah but with all the arc interweaving I kind of expected something like this :p
(The comedy in Clannad is a miss for me though…but the special has me giggling)
