I was informed on MAL that Sumomomomomomo actually is 24 episodes, and the last 2 were goofy specials unrelated to the story that were released on DVD only. (Something another studio is planning to do as well.) I dug around a bit and found them uploaded to various video sites because the torrent for the raws was posted last August. (I can’t believe I didn’t notice it oh well ^^;)

Episode 23 is a special where the gang goes to an onsen. Ironically they of course run into Sanae there because she’s doing her grandma’s crazy training again. The episode is basically surrounded by a bunch of misunderstandings between all the characters. Hanzou thinks that Iroha likes Tenka, Sanae thinks that Koushi likes Iroha and Koushi thinks that Momoko and Iroha are getting it on yuri style. Iroha on the other hand is trying to get Koushi and Momoko to get close to each other.

While incredibly pointless and story unrelated, it was actually pretty fun to watch…as was most of the anime anyway. Their misunderstandings are resolved when they all go to a cave to pick a special flower which will grant a couple’s wish to be closer to each other…provided that they both pick it. The cave though is full of traps but they eventually get out and find the flower anyway. Hell even Koushi & Momoko get a little moment of bonding, although it was kinda dumb xD.

At the end Momoko decides not to pick the flower because it’s so pretty. However, Tenka and Hanzou want to pick it and they both rush for it…which results in them having a yaoi fest in the bath. What was weird is how everyone went into the hot spring together..males & females…and like nobody said anything or made a big deal about it. XD I have no idea why that happened. Oh well it was fun anyway.
