Striking Revelations in Special A Vol. 9

So remember how I had those Striking Revelations in Shugo Chara? Since I’m reading a little ahead of the scans I figured some people may be curious. Anyway you know Ryu? That guy who the twins are always all over. Well now that the twins all have their own significat other, Ryu is kinda ronery.

So Ryu gets kinda close to the soon to be prince of London (England?) because the guy has like no friends and needs Ryu’s help to win Hikari’s heart. Apparently if he doesn’t get married, he can’t become prince etc. So Ryu helps him but they develop a pretty…close relationship. Almost BL close. :shock:

I was pretty surprised since I didn’t think this manga was the type to go BL…but my suspicious were soon confirmed:

It’s a trap. :twisted: Well a reverse trap but still a trap. It’s another one of those “my family wanted a son but got a daughter so they made me live as a man for the sake of country” kind of stories.

I’m happy though. At least Ryu isn’t shafted anymore. I felt so bad for him being all ronery and crap. He was the only one not paired yet :razz:

    You know, I’m wondering why THIS happened, since England’s not quite as fixated on the ‘need to have men in the monarchy’ as Japan is… but given this manga’s origin, I guess I can understand it. And it’s a way to get someone hooked up without getting any male readers running for the hills due to a yaoi pairing.

    I found translation summaries somewhere and apparently some other girl also might have a crush on him… and there’s an emergent love triangle for the main couple too! Well it’s more like a love line + someone else who likes her.

    haha well there were a lot of triangles but im up to vol 10 and thus far everyone has been pretty much paired off with everyone else. so all I imagine is just more new characters. lol this is like Marmalade Boy XD

    Yeah more new characters :P Well you can’t have tension when all the characters are paired off already.

    Japan still sucks at getting Europe right …

    There is no such thing as “Prince of London” (and there is no such thing as “Prince of England” either, there is the “Prince of Whales”) since ALL Princes (and Princesses) are the Royal Family but they lack domains associated to their “prince(ess)” titles (but have then as Dukes and Duchess).

    It would be complicated to explain why, also it would be incorrect to have London to be under some feudal lord.

    It would be right on parts of continental Europe, such as Germany or just screw the whole”.

    Drakron: don’t forget the fact that the Royal Family, and the nobility in general, have enough sons running around that it doesn’t matter if they produce a girl. Worst case scenario is that she becomes a queen, duchess, princess, etc. And that’s Wales, not ‘whales’. ;)

    I think that she’s making up the whole noble thing, myself, just to justify why she was running around in reverse-trap wear.

    Usually but in France only a male hair could inherit the throne of France, that was actually done to prevent the English to became the rulers of France.

    Also considering how nobility is all about “bloodline” nobody stops being queen, duchess, princess, etc. unless they are disinherited (or have that position abolished).

    Of course that such stipulations about marriage are bizarre, you have at least one Queen of England that never married for example.

    I can just write that up as “those wacky Japaneses” … after all Code GayAss already made abandon all hope about they ever getting anything right …

    Oh Hinano, why must you taunt me so! I can’t read japanese … I can make it through anime without subtitles but kanji is the bane of my existence so I can’t read manga … And you keep mentioning all the interesting things happening in the untranslated volumes!

    hehehe prince of London, maybe it’s a term about social status? Anyway it’s nice to see the characters getting somewhere, I’m currently reading the second volume and while it won’t start a revolution it is very pleasant in all its shoujo goodness.
