KimiKiss: Pure Man Tears - 22

Published by Hinano at 8:01 pm under KimiKiss: Pure Rouge

Is KimiKiss nauseating anyone else with their spin cycles? LOL. Just when you thought Futami was all deredere with Kazuki, she sees an incredibly depressed Asuka and suddenly becomes all ronery herself. Kazuki the genious of course comes up to Asuka asking her “What’s wrong with you lately you seem down!” Hello moron, why don’t you look in the mirror you Makoto wannabe.

Also with deep regret I am sad to say that the frogs were back this episode…and they were making out. It was going so well without them. Wryyy!! I also like the interaction between Hiiragi and that rich girl voiced by Mamiko Noto (whatever her name is.) I wish there was some kind of focus on them in more than just classmates/friends etc.

Finally during the party for Yumi and her moving Koiichi needed to be slapped. Also Kazuki’s sister needed to be slapped for her comment of “I heard you guys are gonna go out even when Yumi moves!” Uhh no? As much as I support Koiichi/Yumi I don’t think their relationship is going to last. On the other hand, I don’t want Koiichi to end up with Mao. I want him to be a miserable man and I want her to be a miserable woman (but mainly because she missed out on Saxy boy.)

At the end of the episode Koiichi remembers the stupid childhood friend crap and starts crying at the book Mao left in her old room at his house. I was like what is this poo tears? That’s right Koiichi you bastard, you sit there and cry at what a pathetic man LITTLE BOY you are.

I managed to “watch” (speeded watch, god this is too s-l-o-w to be bearable) the last episode and I have to say this, this whole “Mao hate” is silly … Mao keeps the distance of Koiichi/Yumi and it not trying to break then apart, if she did then Mao hate might have a point.

Nothing I seen justifies hating Mao because … she keep away from interfering with Koiichi choice (key word, he made his choice and she respects it), the whole “oh but sax boy! she is missing out on him” is … well … what can I say? to me it sounds as bad as I typed, it plain “Die For Our Ship” silly type of hate (yes, she does not end up with him … see me complain about the lack of a Nayuki ending in Kanon?).

As for Koiichi/Yumi … since I skipped most of the whole deal I cannot say but the whole deal never sit well with me, perhaps because until Mao pressed the issue they seem to content on “loving from afar” and never really got to know each other, they seem to have something but how deep it actually is … cannot say (missed a lot of episodes to make a statement).

As for Futami/Kazuki/Asuka … yes, I was expecting that when I seen the last episode.

D@mn, Asuka never overly showed interest in Kazuki, helped him reconcile with Futami, and now she’s got regrets. Anyway, good to see that Futami isn’t as ice queen as she used to be and she has sympathy for Asuka. Kazuki may be totally clueless, but not evil-intentioned. As for Mao X Koichi X Yumi triangle we are still undecided. In fact Koichi loves BOTH girls, just in a different ways. He has to decide - imho for the benefit of all concerned would be Yumi.

Hinano, you are caught in the vicious cycle of being too far into the anime to drop it, so you keep watching it and hope it gets better, lol. Oh well, the good news is that there’s only 2 episodes left =)

Hinano, how much shounen romance do you watch, or any of these game/manga -> anime conversions for shows in this genre.

It’s just disappointing that people have taken sides in these kinds of shounen romance (romance for boys) animes.

It should have been fairly obvious from episode 1 (and the picture on the mantle showing them as kids) that the story was about Kazuki, Kouichi, and Mao. Kai wasn’t really ever meant to be any more than a short relationship for Mao, and Yuumi was just meant to be a crush for Kouichi.

The story is going exactly as predicted from the typical “shounen romance”-type line where the childhood friendship trumps newly discovered flings, simply because that’s usually what the audience wants to see.

The only thing I feel is that maybe you were misled into thinking you were going to get something else, but no one was meant to be a fan of Kai’s (over Mao, Kazuki, and Kouichi) to be honest. He’s a bishi in a shounen romance; that usually doesn’t end well at all, since he’s definitely not the kind of fan favorite among the target audience.

The only regret I have for this show is that Sakino didn’t play a bigger role; from a pure shounen romance fan’s perspective that’s the only thing I didn’t really see in it.

  11. vio55555No Gravatar UNITED STATESon 10 Mar 2008 at 1:52 am

Well I just went through your other posts, and it does seem like you watch a lot of shounen romance, which is why I’m rather dismayed by your dissatisfaction with the way this story has gone, since it doesn’t seem like you misled…

  12. vio55555No Gravatar UNITED STATESon 10 Mar 2008 at 1:58 am

    were* misled…

Sorry to seem like I’m spamming, but are you watching True Tears?

You should give that one a shot, but I’d strongly urge you to not pick sides in that one until you’ve seen all of the current episodes.

  13. TelliamedNo Gravatar UNITED STATESon 10 Mar 2008 at 6:44 pm

So for Futami, falling in love means losing all personality. Watching her act all “tee-hee, I’m walking to school with the boy I like. giggle” made me wretch. Where’s the sarcasm? where’s the no-nonsense attitude? Where’s the “fuck off, I’m way smarter than you” responses to Kazuki’s stupid little comments? So I’m now 100% in favor of Asuka because deredere-Futami <<< all.

I’ve been waiting for Yumi to drop-kick Keichi back to Mao where she knows he belongs. But I think she’s decided that, for the next two days, a pretend boyfriend is better than being alone. Still, he’s a pretty sad sack to be shown-up by the frogs.

It also doesn’t look like there’s going to be any further development on Shijou’s pre-arranged marriage. So why was she even in this show to begin with? The second-dumbest Mamiko role yet. (We all know who the first is.)

  14. Jauken7No Gravatar UNITED STATESon 10 Mar 2008 at 7:25 pm

Well, Kouichi (or Kvetchi as I call him) is just being a spineless wretch. It looks like his relationship with poor Yuumi is slowly and painfully fading away as she gets ready to move. This will go on till she finally has had enough and ends it herself because he’s certainly not about to do it himself. And if he goes after Mao, she should kick his ass to the curb for being such a pathetic moron about the whole thing. Kouichi should rot all alone in a drunken stupor till he dies a slow painful death in the gutter after a lifetime full of useless existence!

Eriko on the other hand needs to deal with her emotional issues and she is confused. She’s not likely to exhibit much of her personality until she becomes more comfortable with it all. This is the first time she has let her emotions take over since they shut down half a lifetime ago and her lack of self confidence about it just compounds the issue. With Asuka, being a long time friend of Kazuki, Eriko might feel she has some kind of seniority over her to claim him. Of course, it’s first come gets the prize and he has something to say about who he chooses as well, and Eriko is his choice. He sees Asuka more like a sister anyway and just doesn’t pay enough attention to know why she is acting odd, just that she seems down lately. Eriko will eventually strike a balance and begin to show her rapier wit soon enough.

vio> I’m not gonna bother with true tears.

    telliamed> whos the first?? XD

Kouichi should rot all alone in a drunken stupor till he dies a slow painful death in the gutter after a lifetime full of useless existence!

    Agreed :P

Honestly if Koiichi was supposed to end up with his childhood friend, why the hell did they bother making this a 26 episode series showing him developing a relationship with another girl???

Bah Shounen Romance sucks. I can’t wait till Special A airs.

  16. JohnGNo Gravatar UNITED STATESon 11 Mar 2008 at 12:08 am

Still watching Kimikiss… I’m just going to marathon the last 5 eps when 26 or whatever the last one comes out. Reading your post it looks like every single girl is turning into the “I’ll kill myself if you’re happy” route, of which the only one I think should do it is Mao, except she could even do that properly.

It’s hard for me to relate with the SA super rich characters who don’t attend class and hang out in a freakin weird greenhouse all day… it must be a shoujo thing. Even elite students should have to suffer through boring classes!

just starting reading the manga! seems nana got bored of kazuki and switched her brother complex to kouichi or dna ….whatever! and in the 1st chapter mao comes of more of a slut than in 22 anime epidoses!! read it and choke!

just read the mao chapters of the manga - Mao is practically seducing Koichi! She even snucks into his bed one night when sleeping over! Anime is pure and innocent by comparison!

  20. DrakronNo Gravatar PORTUGALon 11 Mar 2008 at 7:16 pm

I can guess why 26 episodes of this … game was likely popular and so they made a deal of 26 episodes from the start to cash in on it.

Anyone still remember Tokimeki Memorial ~Only Love~ ?

We can ask WHY they done this, as ewok pointed out the manga is more … “ecchi” and the anime taken a rather unusual storyline choice for the demographics without providing anything ELSE, there is no comedy or fan service, only slice-of-life and 4th rate drama.

“Childhood Friend” (and now “Promised Girl”) given a edge to a Mao ending so why the Yumi relationship? of course that have been done before but it really not something Shounen usually does … I think they wanted to NOT do a harem anime and so we end up with … this.

As for Shounen romance “sucking” … well I have to say I have more issues with Shoujo romances that seem to ALWAYS following the same plots … both have their ups and downs as Shounen is almost invariable “it ends when they kiss”, Shoujo tends to be about “it ends when the mangaka finally runs out of stupid plots about their relationship”.

  21. JohnGNo Gravatar UNITED STATESon 11 Mar 2008 at 7:52 pm

Shoujo romance is kinda like regular shounen I think, but instead of “I need more power to defeat evil dude!” it’s “I need to do something to hook up with Mr. Perfect!” with the power of friendship thrown in to help the main become powerful/girlfriend. Instead of bad guys trying ot kill you, you have bad guys trying to break up your relationship.

SA isn’t that bad, I mean I read all the scans that are floating around. It just gets kinda old after awhile since the main girl is too dense to realize what is going on, and the really interesting relationships are between the side characters.

  22. HinanoNo Gravatar UNITED STATESon 11 Mar 2008 at 7:55 pm

John> I read all the scans thus far as well. She’s dense as a brick XD I’m hoping now that im about to go read the rest of the chapters raw there will be some movement. It’s begun at least anyway

  23. DrakronNo Gravatar PORTUGALon 11 Mar 2008 at 8:35 pm

I would not say that, shounen is not always action … heck most shounen romance leads are Shinji-like.

Also most shoujo romance have then “hook up” at least mid way into the series and then it falls into the “relationship” arcs that goes into somewhat of a insanity … sure relationships need constant work but the problem is at least shounen makes it a ending were it should be, the main change into the relationship as Shoujo keeps going and can never provide a ending besides the “marriage” (since we all know divorces do not exist).

Also “Mr. Perfect?” … some do, some do not … its not unlikely to have the female lead not ending with the original object of her affection.

Both shounen and shoujo romances are so cliché ridden that its hard to find something new, I read enough to only care about execution … even if sometimes we get something new (like “Bitter Virgin”, sure I am seeing the archtypes but at least the storyline is new)

Perhaps I give shoujo a harder time because they seem to love going overboard with emotions that makes the female lead seem like a poster child for “emo”, shounen leads despite being “Shinji” at least do not waste entire chapters bitching about something.

  24. HinanoNo Gravatar UNITED STATESon 11 Mar 2008 at 8:39 pm

shounen leads despite being “Shinji” at least do not waste entire chapters bitching about something.

    Um Uchiha Sasuke anyone?

  25. JohnGNo Gravatar UNITED STATESon 11 Mar 2008 at 9:03 pm

You know, manga Shinji is really not that bad. He actually tried to kill Gendo, for example. I’m hoping Rebuild Shinji is similar to manga Shinji. Actually, compared to the normal emo kids you might run into, Shinji has plenty of reasons to be whiny, and his life actually did suck.

Sasuke is definitely more emo than Shinji.

I hope someone translates more SA cause I heard that Tadashi definitively wins his love triangle, and he’s the only one in the whole cast I don’t find annoying at all. As for the main couple, I can sense that it will be a situation where Kei has to “lose” to Hikari by confessing first.

  26. DrakronNo Gravatar PORTUGALon 11 Mar 2008 at 9:04 pm

Its still called “Naruto” … even if it seems its more “Sasuke” these days (I cannot really say, I never actually read it …).

Also it was more about strictly romance leads, not as much as action were “badasses” are more common.

  27. ewokNo Gravatar POLANDon 11 Mar 2008 at 11:26 pm

Well, I just remembered really good villains make better characters sometimes than protagonist e.g. Ashram from Lodoss or Sae from Peach Girl :P Shounen/Shouho fun aside I think KimiKiss is quite good for a Shounen romance - people have their troubles, pairings change, hearts are broken. And even though frogs need to be exterminated, they are better than zombie Fuuko (where is my stake?)

  28. DrakronNo Gravatar PORTUGALon 12 Mar 2008 at 12:24 pm

Actually both became protagonists, “Legend of Crystania” OVA for Ashram and “Peach Girl: Sae’s Story” for Sae.

Neither were really “villains”, just antagonists.

  29. ewokNo Gravatar POLANDon 12 Mar 2008 at 2:19 pm

I’ve seen Legend of Crystania, but not Sae’s Story!

  30. JohnGNo Gravatar UNITED STATESon 12 Mar 2008 at 6:51 pm

I like Parn more than Ashram. He actually started out as crap and gradually became strong. Considering he’s based on a PC that just makes sense I guess. Ashram has a much cooler look though.

  31. DrakronNo Gravatar PORTUGALon 12 Mar 2008 at 8:46 pm

    … are you serious?

Parn was one thing, IGNORE THE ALL YOU CAN EAT ELF BUFFET TO SPAR BARE CHESTED WITH KING … serious, they had to make a manga about Deedlit to show that Parn was not gay.

And I am sorry about this, its one of those thing I have a strong opinion about it

I prefer “Rune Soldier” anyway …

And ewok, “Peach Girl: Sae’s Story” is a manga.

  32. JohnGNo Gravatar UNITED STATESon 12 Mar 2008 at 8:53 pm

Well duh, you can’t gain levels by making out with Deedlit. Anyway, I’m fairly sure Deedlit’s player was a guy IRL.
