Even if we take out the story of Yoshino Yuusuke and Furukawa Sanae and Furukawa Akio and the problems at work that Tomya faced (including missing the school festival) I highly doubt you can squeeze Nagisa's afterstory + Ushio's story into 3 episodes. That's my worry. I like Calawain’s explaination.

Anyways I have no complaint for this episode.

Instead of being brought out of her shell to be in a romantic relationship with Tomoya, in the anime he helped her come out of her loneliness and become friends with everyone. So it was more focused on her growth socially to more people, so having her suddenly disappear wouldn't really make sense :p She was lonely at the start, but Tomoya helped her. That being said I liked this episode, pretty good working of the Nagisa arc. Still doubt they can do After Story this season, if they do the end of her arc justice and maybe add in some extra stuff about other characters they can do the After Story on OVAs or something. As far as I know KyoAni has nothing slated for next season unless they are just keeping a lid on Haruhi. Perhaps they will work on some OVAs...
