Fujoshi Deka: Yaoi Fangirls to the Rescue! Eps. 1-3
I
saw this posted on D-Addicts and curiosity got the best of me. I mean if we can have a drama about a male otaku, why not have one about a female one? The bonus of course is, being a fujoshi is her SECRET IDENTITY! She must not reveal this to anyone - including her boyfriend, who has yet to visit her house filled with yaoi magazines and BL posters.
In addition the way she solves crimes is using her yaoi fangirl imagination. She’ll take all the men involved, somehow imagine them in some sort of a BL fantasy (brotherly love, teacher and student, soccer buddies you name it) and then the murderer usually turns out to be either some WOMAN who DARED to step her foot into ‘their world’ or it’ll be some sort of jealous rage that you typically see in yaoi games. (Not that I play yaoi games, but you kinda pick these things up after being a fan of Naruto for a year ya know?)
She also goes to this Butler cafe where she acts out the crimes with her 2 trusty butlers and female assistant. This helps her imagine the yaoilicious scenarious and decide who the criminal is! This includes picking which one is the seme and which one is the uke. Also it turns out that her boyfriend’s mother is a closet yaoi fangirl - to which her boyfriend is incredibly ashamed of. I guess that doesn’t give any good prospects on their relationship
Will I be blogging this weekly? Probably not. I may do a bulk review of a few episodes at once (I watched these 3 in a row) or I May do a final impression. It’s an amusing drama to watch but I frankly want to see what happens when her boyfriend finds out that she’s a rabid yaoi fangirl. For now the crime of the week is boring as usual - although in ep 3 I was highly amused by the giant Statue of David cake. Maybe I should request that for my wedding ![]()

Well…. I’m at a loss for words. It looks interesting enough.
For all the Yaoi subtext and flat out fascination in Japan, I believe it’s relatively homophobic. I’m surprised they would makes something of this nature outside of the comic world. To quote Kelly Bundy, “The Mind Wobbles.” But it does look interesting enough and should be good for quite a few laughs.
And although I know you’re joking, erotic wedding cakes are best for bachelor/ette parties. I think you should stick with full cast of the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya during that end theme dance for wedding cake.
You know you want it.
I just wrote an essay on Michelangelo’s David two weeks ago. Alas it shall eternally haunt me….
Anyways, the drama looks interesting. If I ever get the time to watch it. I dunno this gives me weird vibes of Densha Onna mixed with Yukan Club or something O___O.
biggest lol since I first saw Haruhi Suzumiya!
I’ve never watched a japanese drama before but butlers AND yaoi murder!? that’s just too good to miss.
Hinano: Question.
If “fujoshi” (腐女子) means what I think it means, then is there a Japanese term for the total opposite? (male manga and novel fans featuring romantic relationships between women, implicating Yuri)
Ren> I don’t know if there’s a male equivalent. I think all male anime fans are just grouped as “otaku” whether they like het or yuri. The problem is with fujoshi, they GENERALLY only like yaoi/BL. Not many female otaku actually like het pairings - of course in the USA that’s different since the het pairing is what fuels many rabid fangirls these days.
Sabrina> My cake topper will be a bride dragging the groom by the collar ;D
Hinano> How about “fudanshi” ? (腐男子)
I’ve found that term in the Japanese wiki, which the definition is very close what I’ve mentioned earlier.
@Hinano: lol cute! Or one where he’s on leash. I saw that in a bakery once and couldn’t stop laughing.
Plus I don’t know what happened to my English in the first post. It is my native tongue going back pre-Mayflower. I guess I shouldn’t type, talk on my phone, & eat a taco all at once again.
I doubt this show will get subbed, so I guess I’ll check it out now. I think I’ll spot the funny parts easy enough.
@Hinano&Ren-san: There is a term, fudanshi(腐男子)and 腐兄(fukei) that mean a BL fanboy. And one more thing, this is a bit controvertial, but there is also a term, 乙男(otomen). This one sounds the best of all, I assume. But otomen features more meanings;
1. a young man who loves shoujo manga, anime, or otome games.
2. a young man who is good at any chores.
3. a young man who is actually so feminine though he is so manly outside.
Otome(乙女) things mean not only BL but shoujo stuff. So even if he is an otomen, it doesn’t even necessarily mean he is a BL fan. But sometimes he really is.
bangin> that sounds like my fiance!
Stop thinking of all the kazune x michiru yaoi!
