Clannad - 16

So uh what can I say? If you’re wondering “What’s the point of Mei coming?” Well in this episode - no there isn’t one. In the game she actually watched Sunohara play soccer against a bunch of assholes which is why it was a lot more dramatic than having her watch him play a friendly game of basketball. Also again - Tomoyo feels like she’s forced into the picture. They’re like trying to intertwine her story but it just feels like they’re trying to throw a raddish into a bowl of cheerios and hope that it matches with the strawberries. Kyou and Ryou - uhm yea they’re getting jacked on time too. What doesn’t make sense to me is how they’re cutting time out of characters whose endings we have not seen, and keeping characters around whose endings we have - i.e. Kotomi. Go away woman, stop creating a personality for yourself! (Don’t get me started on Pooko’s reappearances.) Also the Basketball arc is actually a “flag” for the Nagisa finale route…so that’s probably why although to viewers it felt out of place, the game players know its necessary.
Upcoming Attractions: Looks like they’re (lol spoiler) moving into the graduation arc where Nagisa gets sick and can’t graduate.

Is KyoAni actually failing at something?! WTFOMFGBBQ!11!!1
But no matter what I still love CLANNAD.:3
lol dogu! I’m not entirely sure what the main purpose for these clay figures are, but it’s something about transferring pain or something like that. Not sure about the laxative part xD. I know, Wiki!: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dogu
I sort of wanted to see some more of a substantial arc with Tomoyo and Kyou, but with only 8 episodes (according to ANN, they’re set for 24), I’m not sure they’d do that :0. Would it be enough? I don’t really have any other knowledge of Clannad other than the anime so I’ll see how it plays out :B
I know I have the commercial somewhere on one of my CDTV episodes. It’s like this chick sitting on a toilet all constipated then this huge dogu bursts into the bathroom going すらり。。する? Then it shows a diagram of that thing clearing your stomach and then the girl going “aaahh” and then the end shot you see the dogu again going すっきり! lol So now I have dogu’s associated with poop.
Expect epic Fuuko suppository action?
8aka Fuuko gets turned into assmeds and Nagisa has to absorb her by the butt
the basketball part was really cool imo
its like watching slam dunk clannad version with all those memories before the ball goes to the ring
Mmmmm this week’s episode was alright, although the way they played the basketball game was kinda funny. They didn’t seem to have the animation budget to show much action in that regard, I guess they spend it all on everyone looking pretty haha. Lot’s of speedlines and close in shots instead of wide action you’d normally have from say, watching a basketball game. I played basketball for like eight years so I could make fun of some of the stuff they did but it wasn’t too bad. And I wonder why the episode splash screen has four lights like the game’s opening menu, they haven’t really done four people’s stories, just two I thought…
Oh it does? I didn’t notice but you DO get the lights from completing the stories of side characters - i.e. Mei. I guess we got 1 for her…i dunno about the other 3. Or maybe that’s a combo of kotomi and fuuko’s? Hm that would only be 2 though. I dunno anymore
Yeah so far they’ve only done Kotomi and Fuko, that should be just two. I suppose I could go back and check every episode splash screen, count them, and try to figure it out if I was bored… But I can’t think off the top of my head which side character you could consider completed. Maybe they are like well we aren’t going to do the twins so lets dump off their lights right now, lol =/
That really sucks that Mei is out of the picture so soon. I was looking forward to seeing Sunohara’s route animated.
I’m not really sure if they’re following a pattern with the lights, since the first one appeared like in the middle of Fuuko’s arc.
As expected, they messed up me basketball scene.
Now I’m not going to blow my head off about Okazaki not telling 1/2 the school who he’s going out with because that’s already a given from last week. That’s what’s really worth blowing my head off (another one of the best scenes), but you know…
So I’ll go to my lesser complaint, which doesn’t really matter. Actually it does. 1) Their skills are tied with the regulars, and the regulars couldn’t catch up until Sunohara got really tired. Tomoya and Kyou didn’t let so many balls in. Which leads to 2) Tomoya didn’t think that string of miserable, pathetic thoughts because that wasn’t the case anyway.
And thanks again to kyoani for craming everyone into one episode so Tomoyo and Kyou got almost nothing from their own routes.
And personally I liked to use Tomoyo for 3 on 3 better. In the game she’s not unhumanly strong like in the anime, she’s just strong. And from Tomoyo After I bet she’s stronger than Kyou too.
Oh yeah one more complaint. All adds up to why the basketball scene seems so cliche.
In the game the last play was planned by Tomoya. In the anime he was about to give up and just fall to the floor when Nagisa cheers him and he shoots, which as good as it is is cliche. In the game he wasn’t about to give up and was never since he’s as good as the basketball team members and he PLANNED the last play. So it’s not cliche, but just the room focusing on him and he hearing his girlfriend “the little existence that supported him” cheer him on. He would have shot whether or not he heard that.
And if I remember right his shot was more or less a free shot too.
Well the fact that they screwed up the scene with them becoming officially bf and gf I guess they had to take a creative approach with the Bball as well
It wouldn’t have been cliche if their skill were on-par with the regulars like they were though.
