Clannad - 14

And so Kotomi’s arc comes to an end. Did anybody cry? I gott admit…I didn’t. I actually did cry in the game (ちくしょ!
)but I dunno something in the anime just didn’t jerk a tear out of me. Also lols, the scene where Kotomi and Tomoya both cry is basically the “replacement” for the scene of Tomoya and Kotomi hugging and kissing. Hehe.

I must be having a brain fart but I can’t remember in the game them telling us why Tomoya didn’t come to the party - or at least I don’t recall it being because some boys were like “ew girls have cooties” or something. Also I love how Kotomi blatantly saying “I loved you so much” but the reaction is probably not nearly as close as what he’d give us if Nagisa said that.
But anyway..

I dunno this bear scene totally made me bawl in the game. I guess knowing that she was gonna open the suitcase and find it in there was not as surprising so the emotional element was sorta dead for me. I hope first time viewers find this scene emotional though. Also did anyone notice the HIkari no Dama?

KyoAni added the scenes of the suitcase being passed from country to country. To this day I’m still bewildered at how ridiculous the whole thing is. I mean if someone finds a suitcase with a bear in it and a letter they’d prolly sell it to some museum thinking its some sort of a relic lol.

Ah well good job KyoAni on the conclusion. It was cute, and actually the anime made her seem less retarded for some reason. Sorry for the crappy screencaps I watched this on niconico when I got home, didn’t wanna bother with torrents/computer freezage etc. O well now that my 2 least favorite Clannad women are out of the way all the good stuff should proceed now.
Upcoming Attractions: I think the arc with Nagisa and the basketball game? What’s weird is Nagisa is now wearing her summer uniform…which I never saw in the game until after the graduation hmm.

Tomoya was out flinging galaxies.
Yes Tomoya is the Gurren-Lagann.
LOL he pierces the heavens with his dango?
whatever, seems were moving to next arc, 10 episodes left and so many girls to cover… (no pun intended)
Whereas someone sentimental like me would try to find out who the letter was addressed to, anyways-
I’m waiting for the HD version before watching (which is why I’m still stuck on episode 11, but that’s ok for us game players)
Well Kyou + Ryou are like a combo, not sure what they will do with their story, at this point it almost seems like they’re gonna take most of it out - it conflicts too much with Nagisa’s.
I’m actually downloading HD versions and deleting the non hd ones - I plan to make an epic clannad/kanon/air amv
I enjoyed it, although the whole suitcase from country to country like you said is kinda silly. Like, that’s not really every going to happen if they just signed the card K&M in English. How does that get it’s way to Japan? Dunno.
Aside from that very cute, but not quite as emotional as Fuko’s last episode. I’m curious as to how they are going to handle the rest of the show, since it doesn’t from the preview look like it’s hopping into a Kyou or Tomoyo arc right away. And we all kinda figure that Nagisa is going to be the chosen one at the end. I haven’t played the game so I’ll just be waiting to see what happens.
@ewok: Isn’t this supposed to be a 26 episode series? In which case there are 12 episodes left, not 10.
I think Kyou+Ryou are actually going to be in the story, along with Tomoya, and obviously Nagisa. There are five “main” girls you see with special animations and all that in the intro, and both of the girls that have been covered so far have been two of the five.
Even if stories conflict in the game, KyoAni HAVE been changing stories (to good effect I think, enjoying the series tons, way more than Kanon, although Ayu is still the uguu master) to meld everything together a little. I think that they’ll be able to work all five of the girls stories in the intro into the series fairly nicely.
its seems that with most people who post they like nagisa but i actually dislike her(i’ve never played this game or any visual novel) but when your parents can outshine you in personality and looks plus when your only good point is the dango song is distressing, but i have a feeling that she must be better in the game as there is nothing but positive vibes towards her! Kotomi was great for me as i like the oddballs/bright girls(kotomi, violent twin) compared to the generic nice girls(the fourtune telling twin and nagisa) but even an idiot like me can tell its gonna be a nagisa ending!
But I mean Kyou’s story REALLLLLY conflicts with Nagisa’s so they may change to the point where they won’t really GIVE her a story hence why they’d still have room to squeeze in Tomoyo.
I think the problem with Nagisa is that she seems more like a side character because they wanna get the other girls out of the way first - so all she really has about her right now are dangos and bread bakign parents.
I had no idea that Sunohara and Tomoyo had very little appearance in the Kotomi arc, which I think that it wasn’t a bad arc at all.
Not that Sunohara returns in the new story arc next week, I hope to see him get kicked around by Tomoyo again, which makes it very funny.
Well you kinda had that with Ayu in Clannad too, she bits of time onscreen (more in the intro episodes) as we went along, but when the other arcs got really heated she just wasn’t around as much. At least that’s what I remember, I haven’t watched it in awhile since I’m waiting for the DVDs coming out~
[...] so he’s not the child molester I’ve been referring to him as for the past few weeks at Ex-fan. I’m really impressed with the amount of detail Kyoani has put into this episode, from the [...]
Damn, so he really wasn’t a child molester!
well, I’d love to see a Sunohara x Tomoyo pairing
huzzah foir the secondary chars!
Told you so :X
[...] with the hat? Sure. Other than that specific minute I enjoyed the scene. I would have done what Hinano would do, except I would keep the suitcase for myself (let’s face it, it was a nice suitcase). If not [...]
So they didn’t defeat the warumono in the end? I’m disappointed with the girls from CLANNAD, I thought they were like superheroines or something. =/
This is supposed to be 52 episodes right? So that would mean theres plenty of time for the other arcs.
I did tear up, not full out crying though. I’m kind of curious as to whether Kotomi will still be around after this, or she’ll just poof til’ the end like Amano did in Kanon.
haha whoa whoa where did you get 52?? I’m thinking 24-26 here
ewok: YOU FAIL.
Tomoya X Sunohara FTW.
Also, yes, he pierces the heavens with his dango.
Meh
It was good I admit. But given the godliness of the game…
I actually liked dear Kotomi’s silliness. As Ryou said her childish side makes you unable to stop helping her.
And the quoting from the Dandelion Girl was much better done in the game, the garden stuff was also much better done from start to finish.
And the whole suitcase thing is not probable, but it’s possible. And it’s not really probable for another universe to exist anyway. Plus it’s stressed in the game that whoever picked it up after reading the letter is UNABLE to just abandon the suitcass or keep it himself and so it passes on and on.
Don’t think the anime got this part in.
Sum up? Anime Very Good. Game Godly
