I picked up Sumo^6 this afternoon at Kinokuniya hoping for an exciting continuation of this passionate budouka story. Unfortunately even though it was the “next” volume, the story felt like it had progressed backwards. Koushi still sucks and can’t be a Budouka, and it’s emphasized in this volume by Yuusuke who say that it takes years of hard training to become one - not just something you can do “in a week”. Even Tenka had mentioned “you know everyone I met so far who is a budouka has wanted to be one for a reason - not because his family is making him to.” So it’s not that Koushi can’t be one, it’s that he doesn’t have the desire to be one, therefore he eternally sucks. His desire is to be a lawyer, not a fighte (har.) So with that, Momoko and Yuusuke fight at the end of their date (which she has to go on because Koushi lost to Yuusuke in a marathon). Yuusuke doesn’t understand why Momoko likes Koushi even though he’s so much better, but Momoko just gives him her usual “because I love him” reason. Blah, the whole volume Koushi treats her like crap, and she still fights (drunkenly) over him.

I really hope Yuusuke beats the crap out of him next volume. He’s the most pathetic lead character I’ve seen in a while. I mean he’s literally a pathetic pussy and he has 3 girls and a trap who all want his babies. Blah, I hope he stops being a dick in volume 10.
