Winter Shows Snowball - Part 2
So the only
show today was that Hatenko Yuugi show. I’m sorta in a dilemma about this and here is why: All the manga covers have the girl and the guy in these cheesy shoujoey poses which = romance. However after watching episode 1 I could barely make it through. None of characters had caught my interest, things happened really fast without any flow. I mean one minute they’re in a forest, the next they’re in the old guy’s house? Wth? Has anybody read the manga? Does this have the potential to get better and/or have some romance?? Or is this gonna be a lame boring gag show. I mean next week’s episode features rabid dogs and a shota
Perhaps this story has potential but the way Studio Deen executed it made it no better than Tits + Vampire (which by the way I enjoyed chapter 1 of the manga lot more than the anime. Rant forth coming.) I dunno, I may check out next week’s ep but this was so incredibly boring I doubt I’ll pick it up for my blogging schedule let alone bother watching the rest.

wtf but this is shoujo…..Aren’t you a shoujo! I mean…come on! =D
That’s what I mean though. It looks like shoujo and stuff that I’d like but episode 1 was SUCH a drag. I mean Ghost Hunt was shoujo too but I just couldn’t sit through it because the characters lacked any kind of interest to me
I haven’t read the manga, but apparently this first episode covered the entire first volume. Hence the rushed feeling (that was somehow boring at the same time) and lack of explanation. Oh, but I say this after watching only the first 10 minutes or so, so… yeah…
The entire first volume??
What the hell are the writers thinking x_x I guess this is another great shoujo anime ruined by bad direction and possible fillers
I barely made it through this ep too, but I did somehow. It’s so bad it’s hilarious.
That’s a shame it looked like one of the better ones for this season, I think sunflowers and travelling and dead parents made me think of samurai champloo.
The manga’s actually pretty decent. I read it once; it’s called Dazzle (What the fuck? I heard that Hatenko Yugi means something completely different in Japanese) in the Tokyopop releases. It’s okay and it has interesting romance elements though I have to admit the art is kind of… not dokidoki. I think the anime did a better job of making it prettier, although I haven’t watched it yet so I don’t know what happened.
The manga’s pretty funny though, and it gets better when the Baroque Heat (WHAT THE FUCK IS UP WITH THESE NAMES? SERIOUSLY) or whatever guy comes in and stirs it up between that Rahzel chick and that Altoid-orsomething guy.
Yes I forgot their names.
So shoot me.
I forgot their names and what happened in the episode. I think that dude is already in episode 1, they shoved so much crap in with no direction that I didn’t know (nor did I care to know) what was happening.
I’ve read the manga through v07, and I saw the first episode. Hatenko Yuugi is not a shoujo romance. It’s a shoujo action adventure where the characters like to provide a sarcastic running commentary alongside their actions. Hatenko Yuuygi runs in the same manga magazine that publishes Saiyuki and Loveless. So it’s aimed at a similar reading market.
The episode chose to throw the audience into the deep end of the swimming pool as it were. It skipped some of the earlier adventures that helped established character relationships. I assume (hope!) they will use flashbacks or something to fill in with some info from those skipped episodes because some of that information is important.
Will it get better? Well, the manga got better, much better, after the first volume which is kind of weak. (One possible reason why so much was skipped.) I can only hope the series will also get better. I would recommend giving the series another try. If episode 2 covers what I think it will cover, it should be a better story.
LKK >Thanks for the awesome comment I really appreciate this input. From what you’re telling me though, it doesn’t seem like my kind of shoujo. My kind of shoujo tends to lean more on the side of things like Shugo Chara rather than Loveless and Saiyuki (both of which I couldn’t get through.) I’ll check out ep 2 just in case though but from what you’re telling me it doesn’t seem like something that will hold my interest.
Wait until they animate the dragon scene! Oh wait… that was another show.
I’ve browsed through volumes 1-7 of the manga, and it’s indeed one interesting shoujo manga, albeit confusing @__@. It’s indeed more of an action shoujo type, though we see some “romance” tidbits from time to time, and some “3some” scenes later on in the manga lol. Nothing really smutty though xD
Every episode of the anime is more like a 30 minute trailer than a complete, understandable sequence of events. I don’t even know when Baroqueheat (Wtf) got introduced to the story and how they met and what happened and man. The anime moves too fast or rather, just jumps from event to event never letting the viewer know what happened in between. Retarded.
The story plot seems really good though, good enough to look into which is why I really wanted to read the manga—but I can’t find it. Woe is I. O, woe is I.
