Winter Shows Snowball - Part 1
I could start this post with how much I hate Vista with the fire of a thousand suns, but let’s just skip that and move on to the fact that most of my shows will now be watched through niconico because that doesn’t freeze and crash my computer but anyway. So we begin the winter lineup with the good the bad and the ugly, but mostly the ugly because looking at everyone’s pre-season posts the lineup looked as exciting as the crowd on the morning commute at the NY Subway.
Let’s begin with the atrocities of this evening:
Rosario to Vampire: Or as I’d like to call “Rosario to Pantsu”. Someone shoulda started a panty counter, and I have no doubt in one of the other niconico uploads of this how someone probably did. I think if it wasn’t for everyone’s comments I woulda just stopped watching 10 minutes in. The only CG they had in the show was a shot of the stairs as the guy was hysterically running down it. Also the main characters names are Tsukunu (guy) and Moka (girl) wtf crack was the mangaka on when he came up with these names ?_? In one scene when her rosario gets ripped off (after she is blatantly bukkaied) she transforms into what looks like Maya from Tenjou Tenge. I could go on and on about what a piece of crap show this is, and a lot of people have called this “Ninomiya 2″ but honestly this is worse than Ninomiya, I’d rather watch Ninomiya than ever have to see another episode of this garbage again lol.
H2O ~Cruelty in the Sand~ - Ok well moving on with the bad, this show is so bad, its like awesome. And by that I mean, I expect School Days level (or close to it) violence. The first 10 minutes had me yawning and rolling my eyes especially with the scene shown here - but when Hayami threw the tray of donuts that was awesome. It reminded me when they threw a potted plant down the balcony in Hana Yori Dango. All the “lol he’s blind so he grabs random girls body parts” jokes were so incredibly cruel. If this was in America the kid could make himself rich and sue the whole school for mistreatment of the disabled. I also went on the official game site and discovered who the trap was - although for some reason the animation staff decided to draw him a pair of boobs this time around. Anyways I’ll check out episode 2, hopefully for more ridiculous violence I can make fun of. Yes I know this is like Myself; Yourself, but the big difference is there’s no Aoi-like seiyuu hurting my ears so I’m willing to give this a chance.
That’s it for tonight, stay tuned for tomorrow’s melodrama.

Damn it, H20 looks like the kind of show which will get hilarious Hinano coverage then get dropped half way through….damn it!
Totali> If it’s only like 13 episodes I’ll go all the way. How many episodes is it supposed to be? I dunno if I can get through 26 xD
Hinano, I have a confession to make. I really believe that anime has gotten bad, rock bottom actually, with all these idiotic anime shows that pops up, which either has very a very lame plot, or so much excessive fanservice as if it screams “hey, look at this, and redirect your focus from our lack of a storyline in exchange for pantie shots”. That isn’t the only thing which has me wanting to seriously quit watching anime altogether, it’s the shows which comes out with either little loli kids in them, with very few anime shows coming out which has any real meaning anymore. I just feel that since 2006 has passed, alot of the anime which came out in 2007 has been disappointing, save for code geass, sayonara zetsubou sensei, ect.
I was really hoping that there would be at least once new anime series coming out of this year would at least cater to the older folks 18+, so that we can actually watch something with meaning, such as slice of life shows, but without all these kids in them. I detest 2007 with a passion, as it’s been the worse anime season I ever had to date. I’d love to just rant on how much fanservice a show can introduce before it get’s stale, or some girl falling in love with a boy for another idiotic reason, such generic plotlines, if you can even call them a plot. Overall, looks like we might have another crappy year with more little kids with excessive fanservice anime shows, sigh. I missed the times when anime shows would actually be fun to watch, such as Elfen Lied, Honey and Clover, you know :).
Ahh, sorry for such a long post, it really has gotten on my nerves as to how disappointed I was last year, starting with the naruto shippuden anime crap, which totally butchered any feelings I had for it left, and instead relied on the manga. I really wonder if this is the result of japan animators, drawers, are doing this as a way of retaliating for the harsh conditons they experience as a result of being in the anime business.
Urzu> I accept your confession. Let’s have a love & hate relationship with Japan’s anime industry.
I don’t necessarily agree with the shows you called “good” cause then I’d say “Why can’t we have good shows like Master of Mosquiton and Gatekeepers” because to me anime was “good” like 7 years ago…now everything is REALLY generic so in order to have some form of entertainment I have to pick out the leftovers and just poke them with a laughter stick. It’s hard to take any show seriously anymore, I think us old farts are just growing out of it I guess XD
Aw, so disappointing to see that H2O didn’t “rock your soul” hehe ;-). Honestly, the only reason I was considered watching this show was because the promo for it was so random and I’d figured it’d be interesting. Anyways, if the show is as bad as you say, I doubt I’ll be able to watch it =/ .
in R+V’s defense I just have to point out that it’s being animated by Gonzo and they have taken some huge liberties to create obnoxious levels of fan service in this show. The manga doesn’t even have one single frame of fan service and is actually a pretty decent read once the story finally gets moving. Oh well, I guess this will just continue my Hate/Hate relationship with studio Gonzo.
I think I saw people in the comments mention that the manga didn’t have this much fanservice so I’ll take your word for it
Obnoxious levels is a good way to put it
Urzu> It has been bad for a while. I missed the time that they had Di Gi Charat! And if they make show out of H games… for fuck’s sake, keep the H.
Hinano> The trap is voiced by the lead character in some other more famous trappiness! show. :3 I really hope 2008 will be an even better Year of the Trap than 2007 was! :3 As for R+V, doesn’t it mean Rape to Vagina? The skirts are so short you might as well make them naked.
Minami-ke had no fanservice, or almost no fanservice, and had simple humor. Okawari, on the other hand.. we’ll see if it’s fan-service laden or not. Given the director of SHUFFLE is on it… well, between that and the shift in art, we’ll see which route it goes.
Okay, it’s more COMEDY than simple humor, but slice-of-life comedy combined with some of the oddest characters in recent memory.
@Urzu
I think there’s still a lot of anime shows out there worth watching, old or new. It’s just that you have to try harder at picking them out from the trashy ones.
I also personally thought 2007 was inferior to 2006, but then when I looked back at what I watched I realized 2007 was still a good year. Although I do agree with Hinano that I increasingly find a lot of anime generic.
All I really have to say, is thank goodness for KyoAni. I’m generally finding myself only really watching their anime nowadays, with a few exceptions, like Claymore or the first season of Zero no Tsukaima. I’m mostly just reading the good continuing manga series nowadays, like Naruto.
It’s definitely agreed that most anime coming out is bleh. It’s what happens to anything that really becomes big and people just want to make a quick buck off of the bandwagon.
The color scheme in Rosario made me sick. All those nauseatingly-green uniforms.
Haven’t watched H2O yet, but a blind kid groping girls Love Hina style? I have to see that now.
Jesus it’s bad enough when there’s any kind of boob grabage but to turn it into a blind joke is just ridiculous and offensive. I can see the line “I can’t see but I can see your love” or whatever coming into play. They really have reached new heights of idiocy and a whole bunch of other mean words with this premise.
And the fucking stupid fringes!
Digi> Ah no wonder her (his?) voice sounded familiar
hayase> I definitely can say that 06′ spring season had me rolling laughing and full of anticipation for the next episode but a rare few shows in 07 had me feeling the same way ^^;
Blank> I guess I’m used to oddball color schemes after watchin Trouble Chocolate xD That was the least of my worries
marmot> At the end of the episode he could see again, hopefully they’ll have gotten the blind pervert jokes out of the way in ep 1.
Hamaji is cute :3 and sings the op >_>
a dry season for good anime, huh?
Well, Im actually looking forward to rosario vampire since the manga is hilarious! I mean a normal kid that goes to a monster only school and meets a vampire girl that has a second personallity ( which is like a super vampire and can only get out when the necklece comes out) and then he becomes a mega vampire and …..
ok my bad, got a lil excited
I actually enjoyed the first episode of H2O (still haven’t played the game yet. There’s also “After Another” wich is related to H2O or something like that) XD but that’s me of course but Rosario to Vampire…now that’s
bad. I enjoyed some Gonzo anime. FMP mainly but this is just… facepalm.gif
Bento> I Have yet to get back into playing eroge/otoge…I never did finish pure lover flavor and I have to like start over or stick the save file from after when I formatted my computer. XD
I only got to play one this month lol. I don’t have a lot of time.
Is Pure Lover Flavor any good? I only played a little bit of Dessert Love >__> sigh. Monday will be coughcoughuplooadingtimecoughcough.
hinthintwantmetouploadH2Ooranythingelse?hinthint. sorry for that X3
