The clash of the Underwater Ray Romanos and Wooden Starfish!
Is basically
what you get if you play the doujin game “Suzumiya Haruhi no Gekitou”. Curiosity got the best of me so I downloaded it off Tokyo Toshokan. It’s so much fun! XDDD Normally I don’t care much for these types of games, the last one I played was that Kanon one with the 3D Ayu going “BOKU NO KOTO WASURETE KUDASAI” after she KO’ed you. The Haruhi one provides fun and anime bits galore. For example in random battles characters will wear random outfits. In the picture here Kyon’s sporting Hakuro’s Utawarerumono mask and in one of my other battles Yuki had a Pikachu hat. They also feature a lot of characters (Like Kyon’s sister lol) sporting Fuuko’s wooden starfish as a shield 
Half the time I have no idea what’s goin on and I’m just mashing Z(attack) and V(hissatsu!) but it’s a lot of fun. There’s a couple modes: Story mode, in which a story sorta happens visual novel style, with battles in between. Free Battle mode where you can pick 2 characters per team to duke it out. For a 1 player game typically though you pick your main character (I was Haruhi) and you pick a 2nd one which will be played by the computer (I picked Kyon in the spirit of my doujin.) There’s other modes which I haven’t tried yet but the game’s a lot of fun and there’s a buttload of torrents for it floating around Tokyo Toshokan so give it a whack today! 
If you beat Kyon & Haruhi’s story mode you unlock Konata’s story lol. Her Henshin sequence is also some sort of Haruhi battle uniform that I only recall seeing in someone’s fanart once. Also Itsuki’s transformation is his swim trunks
Also Akira shows up but I beat her up anyway 
Anyway you don’t have to like Haruhi or Lucky Star to enjoy the game, but it’s probably more fun if you at least know anything about the shows to get all the silly easter eggs. (Akira’s henshin is Tsukimiya Ayu’s cosplay XD)

i didn’t notice the wooden starfish before but i’ll try kyon’s imouto next…
aside from the hakuoro mask there’s i also saw a butterfly mask from bosou renkin once…
question… what’s the use of the items you win in the mission mode?
i won a hakuoro mask and i don’t know what’s its use…

Halfway through the Haruhi story mode, KONATA appears. WTFLOL.
Patchcon is better.
Oh yeah that game was a total riot! Those masks just drive me up the wall (Papillon’s Butterfly’s mask from Buso Renkin and Hei’s mask from Darker than Black are especially hilarious on some characters like Haruhi, Kyon, Yuki, and Mikuru).
I’ve been playing the game today, and hell yeah it’s fun as heck. I’ve been trying to figure out the game mechanics though; I can link some pretty basic combos, but I’ve yet to figure out how to do those special attacks that the computer-controlled characters pull out once in a while.
And some missions are a real killer; I keep dying on the Stage Finals of the Story Mode, and any Mission where I’m seriously outnumbered is equally impossible. Any tips?
370 MB…….. It takes me more than 5 hours to download 500 MB… Ima go cry now.

Ascaloth> I set the play mode to “kantan” lol It took me 2 tries but even on easy mode I finally managed to beat it lol. 2 vs 4 is ridiculous!

Not sure if you know this, Hinano, but you can win these random outfit items in the 24 missions in Mission Mode, and you can outfit the SOS-dan with these items in Status Mode. Some of them appear to give status upgrades, and you can outfit the same item on multiple characters.
Also, once you beat the Konata story, you get an additional Akira story, LOL. That one’s hard to beat though, and Akira being a relatively low-tier character doesn’t help much.
Some additional tidbits:
Haruhi’s henshin is her bunny girl/guitar setup seen in Episode 12 (12), Live Alive. Unfortunately, she doesn’t play “God Knows” as her ultimate attack.
Mikuru’s henshin is her battle waitress uniform. Unfortunately, as far as I can tell, there is no “Mikuru beam”.
Also unfortunately, Itsuki doesn’t seem to have “Fumoffu” or “Second Raid”.
(He DOES have a projectile, but it’s troublesome to use, and looks NOTHING like either of his trademark attacks.)
I saw the henshins for haruhi and mikuru. Ryouko’s henshin is my favorite xD I coulda sworn I saw Mikuru do the Mikuru beam. I will be trying Akira’s story tonight

I finally downloaded it but I have 1 question. How do I start it? When I click the Harugeki Icon it pops up a picture of Kyon’s little sister holding a cat on the right and a big text bubble on the left with japanese writing which I have no idea whats its saying. Help please?T_T

[The game] is pretty awesome. I noticed Marisa Kisame’s hat, Fuko’s starfish (sheild) and Miku Hatsune’s er… ears? :p
There IS a “Miruku Beam”!
Its Asahinas OA (finishing move) in henshin mode. But i personly prefer her normal OA becaose of the range and area.
I played de prequel (Haruran 2 or something) and so far i like the changes they made, except for nerving Kyon from killah to average.
Most overpowered Charakter IMHO is Asakura (like in the prequel).
Her attack and speed are the highest and if you play her good whit knowing your Special Attacks and stuff, she has almost no problems to kill 5 opponents alone.
The unlockables (speak: Konata and Akira) are really good characters.
I call Konata the “Ring-Out-Monster” XD - just play her, you will know what i mean.
Akira basicly has just one “good” combo, but it dishes out a lot of damage.
You can unlock them by completeng first all 4 Story modes and then Arcade two times. Im not sure about that, but i think difficulty has to be atleast “normal” to unlock.
Mission mode is great, there are some really funny missions (like survive 2 minutes with Kyon… against 5 Kyon-clones XD).
But i really want to know what all the items do…
I just know that this baddass sword (the FF7 Cloud style) gives you an additional normal attack (i.e. you hit 4 times in a row or even more often if youre Koizumi and/or have the SOSdan-Armband picked up).
