I remember flipping through the channels and hearing english...so i stopped but oh god this was horrible. I guess it was kind of interesting that they found japanese VA's to do the english portions instead of you know, grabbing a random gaijin in akihabara or tokyo to do the job much better.

Ah, found it. Volume 3, IIRC, is where Saki's reading alone in the clubroom, and Madarame gets all nervous... but then tells himself she's not a Lolita, so he shouldn't be getting all flustered. Which, at least in this context, seems to suggest he's a lolicon... which is something they kinda played up with Angela and Suzie in the anime.

Volume 9 has him not doing anything about it: see chapter 53. He pretty much talks himself out of saying ANYTHING... but I suspect the reason he didn't want to do anything about it is because he wants to stay safe, and not get turned down. Heck, I think the reason he had anything for Saki was because she was 'safe'; she was pretty and friendly (after the cosplay thing), but she was also taken, so he would have had a good reason to be rejected and not feel badly about it. Otherwise, had she been 'available' and she turned him down, then he'd feel that he wasn't good for anyone, and that there was something wrong with him, rather than because Saki wasn't interested.

And Kousaka didn't play ero-games ALL the time; just a lot. Of course, Madarame isn't any better. It's a pity he's so afraid of women, really - Angela, at least in the anime, would've jumped him in a second.

OH I never said Saki has any feelings for Madarame, but I was saying that I totally thought he had a thing for her but as you pointed out - he didn't really do anything about it - but I thought that was mainly because he had given up since she wanted Kousaka so badly (despite the fact that he'd rather play eroge all day then do her or something  )

I don't know if he liked Saki so much as he liked what Saki WAS... or how she developed over the course of the manga. She was the heart of the Genshiken throughout the series. She fought them at first because she wanted Kousaka more to herself, but after Volume 3 began to identify with them as a nakama. She didn't 'get' the hobby as much as the others, but Volume 3 was a turning point for her relationship with them. Of course, we can probably thank Kitagawa for that, due to her antagonism towards the club back in Volume 2. Every time someone pissed her off... well, she acted. She was the one who made things happen: the Sasahara/Oguie pairing, the doujin in Volume 5 that they sold at ComiFest, and so on. She's driven in a way he isn't, and he's very much an uke type... while she isn't (at least, not outside of bed).

He is attracted to her, as you've pointed out in the past, but he's been very timid about expressing himself - Volume 9 makes it clear that he's unwilling to act on anything, unlike everyone else in the Genshiken. All the others have moved onto their own 'next stage of their life' plans, while he isn't quite willing to let go of the comfortable, safe existence that the club represents. Of course, after he found out about Ohno and Tanaka, he distanced himself from Ohno for a bit; I fear that this may mean he was just more attracted to the women in the group because they're familiar and unlikely to reject him just for his habits. This is an extension of his unwillingness to take risks with the outside world, resulting in his ensconcing himself in the safety of the group.

Certainly, Saki's probably the most changed of the group. She's willing to spend time with the rest of the gang, considers them to be friends, plays big sister or the motivator when needed, and really has tried to bring the group closer together. He was certainly more attracted to her than to Ohno, although he seemed to have a bit of a... response... when he walked in on Keiko changing in one of the omake. I think he's more reacting to the fact that she's a woman who doesn't despise him for being otaku, and he likes both that as well as her basically 'good' nature despite the roughness of manner she's exhibited in the past.

Or maybe he's just fixated on anime 'love interest' stereotypes - Ohno's been The Cosplaying Otaku Girl, Keiko (if he's ever considered her) is the Little Sister, Saki's the Childhood Friend of Kousaka and a tsundere (she's defrosted in her attitude towards the Genshiken), and Oguie's the tsundere/loli.

It's a pity that Madarame's got a mild phobia regarding mature-looking women... Angela sure as hell enjoyed playing with him. Of course, he DOES give out those uke vibes... so she probably was enjoying that more than anything else.

Notice how he saw the 'flowery background' when looking at the decidedly younger-appearing Sue. I think he'd never have worked out with Saki due to the fact that Saki's.. well.. mature, and he doesn't want that type of girl. The little-sister figure seems more up his alley, to judge by how he reacted to certain girls in the manga. Like Keiko in one of the omakes in Volume 8.

I feel both "sensible" and "sensitive" suits the situation with Angela and Madarame quite well, but then, i`m not native in the English language. Also in these days Sweden is a melting pot for different cultures and races, original blondish population consisting only 70% of whole people.
I like Genshiken story very much, but it seems that animation quality has begun to drop. In the scene where Ohno and Sasahara are visiting Ogiye`s place, when Ohno stands up, she looks very short in comparison to seated Ogiye. The worst is, she looks relatively flat-bosomed also.
